But only those who knew cats well knew the truth. So what breed was the kitten in the Whiskas ad?

The correct answer is British shorthair cat.

What kind of animal is this - a British shorthair cat?

Nowadays, almost everyone knows what a British Shorthair looks like. And it's hard to believe such a cute little thing could be the offspring of such a serious and plush cat. Some people think British Shorthairs are gray (more precisely, lilac) or white, black, or, less commonly, red. But few have seen tabby shorthaired British Shorthairs. But this is the cat that starred in the commercial.

Which cats star in the Whiskas commercials?

We've already established that this is a British shorthair tabby cat (marbled and mackerel, after all, there have been so many ads over the years). But a more detailed answer to this question is possible.

The first commercial for the cat food was in 2003. It featured a cat named Simba, the first cat bred by the British cattery "Silver Treasure" in Germany. His sons, Jesse and Choby, also appeared.

In 2007, the ad featured British cats named Chiara, Bailey, Sally, and Jamie. The beloved kitten looking for its mother is named Shamu. All the cats featured in the ad were silver tabbies.

So now you know that it wasn't a beautiful tabby cat from the yard that was filmed, but a purebred British cat from the German cattery "Silver Treasure".
