General description
This veterinary medication, available in tablet form, has a broad spectrum of anthelmintic activity. The tablets are small—only 0.55 g—making them easy to administer to both large and small pets. They are yellow with a greenish tint and may contain small specks. They are packaged two at a time in small blisters, then in a cardboard box.

The drug's effectiveness is due to the combination of two active ingredients: praziquantel and pyrantel pamoate. The composition also includes excipients.
Please note! Vermidin is also available for cats. This version has a lower concentration of active ingredients. When purchasing this medication, pay attention to the animal it is intended for.
Operating principle
Since Vermidin is a combination medication, it is effectively used to kill various types of worms that infest dogs. It is effective against roundworms and tapeworms at all stages of development. The medication is effective against the following types of helminths:
- toxocara;
- alveococci;
- hookworms;
- uncinarias, etc.

The active ingredients cause serious disruptions in the parasites' energy metabolism. They also affect the muscular system and cause other disruptions in the worms' vital functions, leading to paralysis and death. Another unique feature of the drug is that it promotes the natural release of parasites. With Vermidin, the risk of intoxication, which occurs due to the mass death of worms and their decomposition within the animal's body, is minimized.
The anthelmintic drug acts quickly but maintains its therapeutic effect over a long period of time. This is achieved because praziquantel is absorbed quickly after entering the intestine. Blood concentrations reach their maximum levels within just a few hours. PyrantelOn the contrary, it is mostly concentrated in the intestines. It takes a long time to enter the bloodstream, thus providing a long-lasting effect. Vermidin is successfully used to kill worms that infest the digestive system, as well as other internal organs (liver, lungs, etc.).

If the dose is not exceeded, the anthelmintic has no toxic effects on the animal's body and does not provoke the development of mutations. The drug's components do not accumulate in the body's tissues. Therefore, there is no risk of addiction. It can be used for regular prevention.
When is it applied?
The medication's primary purpose is the prevention and treatment of helminthic infestations. According to the instructions, Vermidin is given to dogs for the treatment of the following conditions:
- toxocariasis;
- echinococcosis;
- mesocestoidosis;
- Uncinaria blight;
- alveococcosis;
- toxascariasis, etc.
The drug can also be used for mixed infestations. It is effective in killing parasites regardless of the severity of the infestation. It is also excellent for preventative treatment, which should be administered regularly and systematically. It is suitable for routine deworming before mating or vaccination.

How to apply
Regardless of whether the anthelmintic is given to a dog for therapeutic or preventative purposes, it is recommended to administer the medication in the morning. Because the tablets are small, they can be easily hidden in food. This can be your pet's usual food (ground meat, canned meat, or porridge) or a favorite treat, such as a piece of sausage.
Important! There is no need to starve your pet or take any other additional measures.
The dosage is calculated using a simple formula: one tablet per 8 kg of body weight. One application is usually sufficient to kill worms, but in case of severe infestation, the medication should be repeated after 10 days. If the drug is used for prevention, then it should be given to the dog once a quarter. For puppies, a different dosage regimen is used: 10 days before each feeding. vaccination.

Since the medication promotes the natural expulsion of worms, there is no need to give your pet laxatives. However, it's possible that severe infestations can lead to intoxication. The body may simply not be able to eliminate the dead parasites quickly enough. Their decomposition produces toxins that poison the animal. In this case, liver protectors and other medications may be necessary.
Limitations and possible side effects
The drug is considered safe, but it does contain toxic components, albeit in small concentrations. Therefore, Vermidin is not recommended for use in the following cases:
- in the presence of infectious diseases;
- in case of exhaustion;
- if the animal is weakened due to lack of adequate nutrition, chronic diseases or other factors.

This anthelmintic should not be given to dogs recovering from serious illnesses or surgeries. It is also contraindicated for puppies under two weeks of age. It should not be used in cases of intolerance. Vermidin should be avoided if you have previously had an allergy to praziquantel or pyrantel.
Important! This medication is approved for use by pregnant females, but only under a doctor's supervision. Do not use the medication 2-3 weeks before whelping or for two weeks after the birth of the puppies.
If the recommended dosage is strictly followed, there are no side effects. Exceeding the recommended dosage may cause the following symptoms:
- depressed state;
- poor appetite and complete refusal to eat;
- vomit;
- diarrhea;
- excessive salivation.
If symptoms are acute, symptomatic therapy may be necessary. With minor excesses, signs of poisoning resolve spontaneously.

Owner reviews
Mikhail, the owner of the Staffordshire terrier:
"Our dog got worms somewhere. We had to run to the pharmacy. They recommended Vermidin. The price is ridiculous – about 50 rubles for two tablets. However, I had to buy two packages. I hid the medicine in some pâté. The dog ate it without any problems. He didn't vomit, had diarrhea, or any other side effects. We got rid of the worms successfully."
Daria, Labrador owner and volunteer:
"I once had a puppy come into my foster care. A couple of days later, worms started crawling out of his mouth. It was a terrifying sight, but the animal needed immediate rescue. The only thing I had in my first aid kit was Vermidin for dogs, so I gave him that. Ten days later, I gave him the medication again. The puppy became active, his appetite improved. There's no longer any talk of worms. It's an affordable and good medication. The puppy is now happily living with other people."
Lyuba, the hostess Doberman and a British cat:
"I've been using Vermidin for both my dog and cat for a long time. I do buy separate medications for each animal, though. I can't say anything bad about it. They're worm-free. They've had tests done, so I can say that for sure."
Veterinarian Reviews
Lyudmila, a veterinarian with 12 years of experience:
"If there's a good anthelmintic among domestic medications, it's Vermidin. It's inexpensive, but it works great. I often prescribe it for both treating and preventing infestations. I've never had any issues with it. And my pets tolerate it well. There's only been one side effect, but that was due to the owners overdosing."
Vadim, a veterinarian with 7 years of experience:
"It's essential to regularly deworm dogs and cats, especially if there are children in the house. Some parasites thrive not only in animals but also in humans. If you can't afford expensive imported medications, Vermidin is an excellent alternative. Although inexpensive, it's effective and safe for pets."
