Urolex for dogs

Urolex is a herbal veterinary drug used to treat urinary tract disorders in dogs. This effective medication can be used in combination with other medications or on its own. It is manufactured by the Russian company Agrovetzashchita, which develops and manufactures medications for animals.

General description

Urolex is a medication for oral use. The medicinal liquid is brown in color, with a reddish tint. It has a characteristic herbal odor due to the herbal extracts it contains. Sediment may form at the bottom of the bottle during prolonged storage, but this is considered normal. Therefore, it is recommended to shake the bottle before use, even if sediment is not visible.

The medicinal liquid is packaged in vials. They are made of dark glass, which protects the components from the damaging effects of ultraviolet light. However, it should be stored in a dry, dark place. The ambient temperature should range from 5 to 30 degrees Celsius. Freezing the product should be avoided, as this may negatively impact its effectiveness. The vials hold 50 ml, so one package usually lasts a long time, although this depends on the animal's weight. Polymer vials with a capacity of 20 ml are also available. These packaging options are well suited for small and medium breeds.

Composition and action

Urolex is a complex herbal preparation. Its pharmacological properties are due to a combination of herbal extracts:

  • Bearberry leaves. They have a diuretic effect. Among the plant's properties, it's worth noting its anti-inflammatory properties. The herb can destroy pathogenic bacteria that can multiply in the bladder or other organs of the urinary system.
  • Goldenrod. The plant has many properties, including relieving spasms and pain, acting as a diuretic, and preventing urinary tract stones. Goldenrod extract helps prevent the development or exacerbation of urolithiasis.

  • Field horsetail. Enhances the effects of goldenrod and prevents the formation of phosphates, oxalates and other types of stones in the urinary system.
  • Birch leaves. They have a diuretic effect. The plant's main feature is its gentle effect on the animal's body.

The drug can be used to treat both chronic and acute conditions. For acute conditions, other medications are usually prescribed. The medication is also used for urolithiasis. In this case, it is usually combined with other medications. It is also suitable for preventing exacerbations of this condition.

How to apply

It is recommended to apply Urolex drops to the back of the tongue or into the buccal area. The medication can be diluted with a small amount of water. In this case, the prepared solution can be fed to the animal using a syringe, after removing the needle.

The dosage of the herbal remedy depends on weight. Before starting treatment, be sure to weigh your pet to calculate the correct dosage. Three drops of the medicinal solution are administered per kilogram of body weight. The medication is administered one hour before meals, three times daily.

Please note! The course of treatment should be determined by a doctor, taking into account several factors, including the stage of the disease, the severity of symptoms, the use of other medications, and the pet's overall condition. In any case, it is not recommended to use the medication for more than 1 month.

It is recommended not to miss doses of the medication. Failure to follow the treatment regimen may negatively impact its effectiveness. If a dose is missed, it should be resumed as soon as possible. Please note that the dosage remains unchanged if one or more doses are missed.

Limitations and side effects

Urolex contains only natural ingredients, so it has no contraindications. It can be given to dogs of all breeds and ages. It is not contraindicated for pregnant or nursing females, as well as for elderly pets.

The only time the drug should be discontinued is if the animal has an intolerance to the herbal ingredients. While this is rare, it's still worth monitoring the animal's reaction the first time it's used.

Please note! The instructions for use do not contain information about the compatibility of Urolex with other medications.

In most cases, dogs tolerate the medication well. No side effects occur. The exception is those rare situations where the pet has an intolerance to the components. Allergic reactions may manifest as hives or dermatitis, itching or rash, increased salivation, or vomiting. If the animal's body reacts negatively, further treatment is discontinued. To stop the allergy, the pet is given an antiallergic medication and, if necessary, symptomatic therapy.

Owner reviews

Olga, the dachshund's owner:

"Every fall, our dog suffers from cystitis. The condition has become chronic and flares up every year. At first, we sought veterinary treatment, but for two years now, we've been managing the problem ourselves. We give him Urolex for a week, and urinary difficulties are a thing of the past, and he becomes active and playful. The medication is natural, so I don't worry about side effects."

Dmitry, owner of a 7-year-old dog:

"I noticed our dog was having trouble going to the bathroom, as if he was in pain. Taking him to the vet was out of the question because we live outside the city and don't have a car. A neighbor told me about Urolex when she reported the problem. I put the drops directly in his food. Improvements were noticeable within a couple of days, and now he can go under the bushes without any problems. It's a good product, and it's inexpensive."

Tamara, the pug's owner:

"We used this medication to treat cystitis. I'd like to point out that we didn't use any other medications, but the results were noticeable within two days. The dog began going to the toilet without any problems and stopped squeaking when trying to urinate."

Veterinarian Reviews

Vita, a veterinarian with 11 years of experience:

"Urolex is a natural, safe, and effective remedy. It's relatively inexpensive, but it really does help with urinary tract problems. I can speak from personal experience alone. In 98% of cases, owners notice improvement within 2-3 days. I often prescribe this medication to both dogs and cats."

Grigory, a veterinarian with 7 years of experience:

"I'm generally skeptical of herbal remedies, believing them to be less effective than traditional treatments, but Urolex is an exception. It's gentle and doesn't cause side effects, yet it improves my pet's condition. I started using it for my patients after learning of a woman who had been using it to treat her cat's urolithiasis for five years. I've personally seen its effectiveness."
