Urolex for cats
Urolex is an effective herbal medicine that is used for cats with urolithiasis, as well as kidney and urinary tract pathologies. It has a broad spectrum of action, so it can be used both as monotherapy (treatment with a single drug) and in combination with other medications. The formula for this medication was developed by the domestic veterinary drug manufacturer Agrovetzashchita.

General description
Urolex is produced as a liquid for oral administration. Urological drops are packaged in 20 ml polymer bottles or 50 ml glass containers. The composition and concentration of active ingredients are identical across the different packaging options, differing only in volume. The bottles are equipped with special dropper-pipettes. These droppers allow for quick and convenient measurement of the required amount of medication. There is no need to use a separate pipette, syringe, or other equipment.
The liquid is brown in appearance. The shade can vary from reddish-brown to dark brown. During prolonged storage, a sediment may form at the bottom. This sediment usually dissolves easily when shaken. The product has a characteristic herbal odor.
There are no special storage requirements for this medication. Just a few simple guidelines should be followed:
- choose a dry place away from sunlight;
- maintain the temperature regime – from 5 to 30˚C;
- Prevent children and animals from accessing the medicine.
Always pay attention to the expiration date and never use drops after it has expired.

Price
When purchasing urological drops for cats, keep in mind that the price of Urolex depends on the bottle size:
- 20 ml – about 150 rubles;
- 50 ml – about 300 rubles.
For cats, a small bottle is usually sufficient, so there's no need to overpay. The medication is easily available at any veterinary pharmacy or pet store. You can also order it online.
Composition and pharmacological properties
Urolex has a pronounced antispasmodic and antiseptic effect. It effectively and quickly relieves symptoms, prevents further progression, and eliminates the cause. The medication is based on herbal extracts:
- Goldenrod can quickly relieve spasms and eliminate pain. Furthermore, the components present in this plant prevent salt crystals from adhering to the surface of the kidneys and bladder, as well as their growth.
- Horsetail complements the effects of goldenrod. It also reduces the formation of phosphate and urate salts, which prevents the recurrence of urolithiasis in animals.
- Birch leaves have a mild diuretic effect.
- Bearberry leaves have a diuretic and pronounced anti-inflammatory effect, but they also possess other beneficial properties. The plant can destroy harmful microorganisms that cause inflammation in the urinary tract.
The components that perform an auxiliary function in the composition are glycerin and highly purified water.
Please note! According to the 1976 GOST classification, Urolex urological drops are classified as low-hazard medications. They are non-toxic to the liver and do not cause mutations or other irreversible processes in animals. They are considered safe for cats of all breeds and ages, but consult a veterinarian before use.

When is it applied?
According to the instructions for use, Urolex for cats with chronic and acute kidney and urinary tract diseases is prescribed as part of a combination therapy, that is, with other medications. It is used in the following cases:
- for cystitis;
- with urocystitis;
- with glomerulonephritis;
- with pyelonephritis;
- in other pathologies of the kidneys, bladder or urinary tract caused by bacteria, infections or other factors.
The drug is successfully used for the treatment of urolithiasis and the prevention of its recurrence.
Features of use and dosage
Urological drops are administered by forceful application to the back of the tongue or behind the cheek. If this procedure is difficult, the medication is mixed with a small amount of drinking water and then administered using a needle-free syringe.
Important! Take the medication one hour before feeding. This way, the herbal ingredients are more easily and quickly absorbed and more effectively.
The dosage is simple: 3 drops per 1 kg of your pet's weight. If you don't know your cat's weight, you'll need to weigh them before starting treatment to accurately calculate the dosage. Shake the bottle well before use. The drops should be taken 3 times daily. The duration of treatment is determined by your doctor individually, depending on your symptoms, the specific course of the disease, and other factors. In any case, the course of treatment should not exceed 1 month.

It's important to strictly adhere to the doctor's prescribed treatment regimen and avoid missing doses, as they reduce the effectiveness and therapeutic effect of Urolex. If you miss a dose, resume treatment as soon as possible, maintaining the same dosage and time intervals between doses.
Contraindications and side effects
Urolex is a completely herbal product that contains no chemicals or toxic components. Therefore, it has no contraindications and can be used on cats regardless of age, breed, or health condition. Urological drops are approved for use on pregnant and lactating females, as well as young kittens and elderly, weakened animals. The only restriction is individual intolerance to the herbal ingredients, which is quite rare.
The medication is well tolerated by animals and does not cause side effects, even when the dose is exceeded. In animals with hypersensitivity, the components of the drops may cause an allergic reaction. This can manifest itself in a variety of ways, from skin rashes and itching to stomach upset and vomiting. In such cases, the medication is discontinued and an alternative treatment is selected.
Advantages and disadvantages
Urolex has many advantages:
- Contains only natural ingredients.
- It works effectively.
- Can be used for animals of different ages.
- Suitable for the treatment of pregnant cats and nursing females.
- Can be used for the prevention of urolithiasis.
- No special storage conditions required.
The main drawback of the medication is that it must be administered three times a day, and the course of treatment is usually lengthy. For many cats, taking medications, including urinary drops, is a real stress, so they resist the procedure. Pet owners and veterinarians have not observed any other obvious downsides during use.

Owner reviews
Polina, owner of a British cat:
"We try to buy only the best food for our cat, but digestive issues sometimes occur. We also had to deal with urolithiasis. The treatment was long and painful—injections, pills, and drops for three weeks, plus a special diet. Now (on the veterinarian's advice), we give him Urolex twice a year to prevent relapse. The drops work great; at least, the disease hasn't returned in almost three years."
Marina, owner of an 8-year-old cat:
"We first used Urolex in combination with other medications when my cat was diagnosed with a bladder stone. After successful treatment, the doctor gave me dietary instructions and recommended periodic use of Urolex for prevention. Surprisingly, my cat doesn't even resist the drops, and they're truly effective. At the first sign of illness, they quickly relieve spasms and restore kidney function."
Anna, owner of an Abyssinian cat:
"A couple of years ago, our cat was diagnosed with urolithiasis. We now take medication regularly to prevent recurrence. We always used Kot Ervin before, but when it was out of stock one day, I bought Urolex. These drops are excellent. They're just as effective, not bitter, and they're cheaper, but they last longer (almost twice as long). A good remedy for preventing urolithiasis in pets."
Veterinarian Reviews
Peter, a veterinarian with 10 years of experience:
"I've heard many positive reviews from colleagues about these urinary drops, although I usually prefer Kot Ervin for the prevention of urolithiasis. In any case, this herbal preparation is safe for animals and cannot harm them."
Inna, a veterinarian with 8 years of experience:
"Urolex is prescribed for inflammatory conditions in combination with other medications. Furthermore, it is the most affordable and effective treatment for urolithiasis prevention. All of my "patients" who used this medication have managed to avoid recurrence of the condition. The medication is natural and can be used for virtually all cats."
