Troncil-K for cats

Tronzil-K is an anthelmintic medication developed specifically for cats by specialists from the Russian company Vetbiokhim. Its complex composition makes it effective in killing various types of internal parasites. Its specially developed formula is suitable for both adult pets and kittens.

General description

The anthelmintic is available in tablet form. These relatively large, white or yellowish tablets are packaged in blisters of 10. A cardboard package typically contains two blisters, but some pharmacies sell them individually, and sometimes even sell the tablets individually for customer convenience. When purchasing a full package, you also receive deworming information stickers for inclusion in your pet's veterinary passport.

The manufacturer achieved high efficacy and a broad spectrum of action by combining two components—praziquantel and pyrantel embonate. The concentration of the active ingredients is carefully calculated to suit the size and characteristics of domestic felines. The formula also includes auxiliary components, but these have no adverse effects on the animal's body.

Important! Troncil is available separately for cats and dogs. Choose the product according to your specific needs, as they differ not only in the concentration of active ingredients but also in their composition.

The medication has a shelf life of 5 years from the date of manufacture, and no special storage conditions are required. The main thing is to store the blisters away from direct sunlight and ensure the ambient temperature does not exceed 25 degrees Celsius.

Operating principle

Since Troncil-K combines two active components, it has the following effect:

  • destroys roundworms;
  • stops the activity of tapeworms;
  • prevents the development of larvae and eggs;
  • promotes the natural elimination of parasites from the animal's body.

This anthelmintic effectively kills roundworms, toxocara, echinococcus, and other internal parasites. It works on virtually all types of worms that can inhabit a cat's body, as it simultaneously affects the parasites' metabolism, muscle function, and nervous system.

Praziquantel and pyrantel not only kill adult parasites but also affect parasites at other stages of development. Therefore, a single dose is usually sufficient to completely rid the animal of worms.

Troncil-K is considered a safe anthelmintic, but it is essential to follow the prescribed dosage. Keep in mind that the medication contains toxic substances, albeit in small quantities.

Price

The price of Troncil-K for cats ranges from 280 to 300 rubles for a pack of 20 tablets. Since the medication is manufactured by a Russian company, it is usually readily available in pharmacies. You can purchase the medication at your local veterinary pharmacy or order it online.

When is it applied?

The complex composition provides a wide range of indications for Troncil. The medication is effectively used to treat conditions caused by various types of helminths:

The drug can also be used prophylactically to prevent infestations with parasites that inhabit the digestive system or other organs. Experts recommend regular deworming even for indoor cats, as infection doesn't require leaving the house. Tronzil-K is well suited for this purpose. It acts gently and, when dosed correctly, has no adverse effects on the liver or other internal organs. Its components do not accumulate in the body, nor does it affect development.

Pills for a cat

Don't neglect the need to regularly deworm your pets, especially if you have children in the house. Some types of helminths can parasitize both animals and humans.

How to apply

According to the instructions for use, Troncil-K can be given to cats in different ways:

  1. Hide the pill in your pet's favorite treat. This could be a piece of meat, ground beef, or another favorite treat. You can divide the dose into several portions beforehand to make it easier to disguise. Cats have an excellent sense of smell, so they often refuse healthy treats.
  2. If the previous option doesn't work for your pet, you'll have to resort to forced administration. Place the tablet on the back of the tongue, hold the animal's head elevated, and stroke its neck to induce the swallowing reflex.
  3. For kittens, you can prepare a medicinal solution. To do this, crush the tablet in a convenient way and dissolve it in water. Use a syringe without a needle to inject the prepared solution into the kitten's mouth, holding the kitten's head elevated.

Dosage anthelmintic agent calculated based on the animal's weight:

  • for kittens weighing less than 1 kg, a quarter of a tablet is enough;
  • for weight 1-2 kg you need half a tablet;
  • for pets weighing 2-3 kg 3/4 tablet;
  • for cats weighing 3-4 kg you will need 1 tablet;
  • For animals weighing 4-5 kg, you need to take 1 whole and another quarter of a tablet.

There is no need for a fast or intestinal lavage before deworming. The medication's effectiveness is not dependent on food, although some veterinarians recommend administering Troncil to cats in the morning before feeding or during meals. Since the worms are expelled naturally, there is no need to give the animal a laxative.

For therapeutic purposes, the medication is administered once, as directed. In severe infestations, a repeat dose may be required after 10-14 days, but this should only be prescribed by a doctor. To prevent helminth infestations, the medication is administered to the animal every three months.

Contraindications and side effects

The instructions state that Troncil-K has no contraindications, but it can only be given to kittens aged three weeks or older. Pregnant females should also avoid using the medication, especially during the first half of pregnancy. However, the medication can be used if necessary. There are no other contraindications.

Important! Tronzil-K should not be combined with other anthelmintics, as this increases their toxicity. This increases the risk of side effects and symptoms of drug poisoning.

Cat on the grass

The medication is generally well tolerated by both kittens and adult animals. In rare cases, intolerance to the components may cause nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Pets may also become depressed and inactive, refuse food, or simply eat poorly. If symptoms are mild, no special measures are necessary. If signs of intolerance do not resolve on their own, an antiallergic medication and symptomatic therapy may be required.

Owner reviews

Svetlana, owner of a 3-year-old Persian cat:

"We used Drontal for deworming. After each dose, my cat would be lethargic for 2-3 days, eat poorly, and generally had a hard time with the deworming. One day, the pharmacy didn't have this medication, so the pharmacist recommended Tronzil-K. Hiding the pill in her food didn't work. Our beautiful cat immediately sensed the trick and simply refused to eat it. My husband had to hold her while I shoved the pill down her throat. I was surprised to find no side effects. There was no indication that the deworming had been done. She continued to run around the house and eat with great gusto. It's an excellent product; I'll only buy it from now on, especially since it's inexpensive."

Zhenya, owner of two cats:

"I've always dewormed my cats regularly, but I had an unfortunate experience. A kitten with worms was brought into foster care. I gave him the medication I use regularly, but the worms kept coming out alive. While we were trying to get rid of the kitten's worms, they appeared in the adult cats as well, so a trip to the vet was unavoidable. The vet prescribed Troncil-K. After the first dose, all the worms were gone. We had repeat tests later, and no parasites were found. It's an affordable and highly effective medication."

Veterinarian Reviews

Oksana, a veterinarian from a Vladimir clinic:

"The main advantage of Troncil is that it's designed specifically for dogs and cats. This makes it effective yet safe. Even small kittens tolerate this medication well. Furthermore, it can be given as early as three weeks of age. Side effects are extremely rare. I can count on one hand the number of such cases in my practice."

Dmitry, a veterinarian with 9 years of experience:

"Cheap medications can be just as effective as expensive ones. Troncil is a clear example of this. One tablet costs about 15 rubles. By comparison, imported analogues are 6-10 times more expensive. It's also excellent at killing both roundworms and tapeworms. I often recommend it for prevention, as side effects are very rare."

  • This is a great product, it really helps. My cat was intoxicated by a large number of worms, and his condition improved after just the first dose. By the second day, he was already eating and enjoying life. The vet recommended it. The only pity is that it's in tablet form, not a suspension.
