Stop-itch for dogs

Stop-Zud is a veterinary medication used in dogs to treat dermatological conditions caused by various factors. It is manufactured by the Russian company Api-San, which specializes in the development and production of medicinal products for animals.

Composition and action

The drug is available in two dosage forms: a suspension and a spray for topical use. The composition and properties of the medication differ in each form.

Stop-itch for dogs

Suspension

The oral suspension contains several active ingredients that ensure its high effectiveness. It helps combat dermatological conditions:

  • triamcinolone;
  • pyridoxine hydrochloride;
  • methionine;
  • succinic acid;
  • riboflavin;
  • nicotinamide.

The excipients include purified distilled water, glycerin, saccharin, aspatame, and other substances. You can check the exact ingredients of Stop-Itch before administering it to your dog in the instructions. The suspension is packaged in polymer bottles of varying sizes. It is usually yellow in color, although the shade can be either light or dark. Separation may occur during storage. This is considered normal. Shake the suspension well before use to ensure the medicine is uniform.

The suspension is classified as a combination medication because it has the following effects:

  1. One of the main active ingredients, triamcinolone, is a glucocorticoid. It has pronounced anti-inflammatory properties. It also prevents the body from adapting to the drug's effects, reduces swelling, and eliminates other symptoms associated with inflammatory processes.
  2. B vitamins and methionine initiate regeneration processes and accelerate the restoration of damaged epidermis.
  3. Succinic acid reduces inflammation and strengthens the immune system. It improves blood microcirculation, thereby promoting wound healing.

  • Triamcinolone has an anti-inflammatory effect because it prevents the production of substances in the body that are involved in inflammatory processes.
  • Chloramphenicol and metronidazole have a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity. They are capable of killing a wide variety of bacteria.
  • Lidocaine relieves pain and helps eliminate allergy symptoms.
  • Calendula extract initiates regeneration processes and promotes skin restoration.

Owner reviews

Galina, owner of a 3-year-old Yorkie:

"Our dog started scratching himself profusely when fleas appeared. The insects were removed, but he continued scratching certain areas of his body until they bled. After examining him, the vet diagnosed him with a food allergy. He recommended a different food and prescribed Stop-Itch suspension. After just one use, he calmed down and stopped scratching. It's an effective remedy. Whenever allergies make a resurgence (which happens sometimes), we use this product."

Oleg, the owner of a chow chow:

"Our dog developed small bleeding sores that we didn't immediately notice under his thick fur. The cause was never discovered, but the doctor prescribed Stop-Itch spray. It's easy to use and effective. Within five days, the wounds were completely gone. I recommend it to other dog owners."

Veterinarian Reviews

Olga Nikolaevna, a veterinarian with 9 years of experience:

"Stop-Itch is an effective product. It's a quick fix for allergies and other dermatological issues. I sometimes prescribe it for my furry patients, but I still don't recommend overusing it, as it contains synthetic hormones. Sometimes it doesn't work, but that's more likely to be due to the animal's specific needs than the product itself."

Anton, a veterinarian with 6 years of experience:

"An effective product from a domestic manufacturer. Its advantages include rapid action (pets usually feel better after the first use), low price, and availability in pharmacies. It's even sold in provincial pharmacies, which is especially important for residents of smaller towns. Its ease of use is also a plus, but do not use without a doctor's prescription."
