About the film "Men in Black" and the dog actor

The first installment of the American science fiction film series "Men in Black" was released in 1997. One of the main characters was an alien who claimed to be 150 years old and had come from the planet Remulia. On Earth, he took the form of a dog named Frank the Pug.

Frank the Pug

Frank was voiced by puppeteer Tim Blaney, and the role was played by a dog named Mushu. His trainer, Christy Mealy, admitted that working with Mushu was a pleasure. The dog loved to play, learned quickly, excelled in his role, and got along well with the other actors. During filming, the pug became accustomed to the life of a VIP: he traveled business class, stayed in luxury hotels, and slept on a bed. His preferred food was grilled chicken or steak, and he learned to drink water from a bottle.

Cheerful, outrageous, radiating dignity and confident in his own irresistibility, this funny character from Men in Black was beloved by audiences. Frank the Pug could talk, smoked cigars, wore a shirt with the words "I Love New York" printed on it, and strolled sedately through stores with a jaded air. In Men in Black, this dog sings in a car, sometimes singing along to trendy rap, sometimes performing the hit "Who Let the Dogs Out."

Description of the breed

The pug is a decorative dog breed believed to have originated in China. Because of the wrinkles on their foreheads, which create a pattern resembling hieroglyphs, the Chinese believed these animals were marked with a mystical seal and treated them with due respect. Pug-like dogs were favored by emperors and even had their own staff of servants.

This breed appeared in Europe in the 16th century and quickly became fashionable among high society ladies. Pugs remain popular today. Many public figures acquire these dogs as companions: for example, the renowned writer and author of women's ironic detective novels, Daria Dontsova, has had a pair of these charming dogs for many years.

The pug is quite small in stature (around 25-35 cm), but quite heavy in weight, reaching up to 8 kg. The well-fed, stocky build characteristic of all members of this breed is clearly visible in the photo of the dog from the film "Men in Black." This build is often the result of a voracious appetite, which owners will have to manage to prevent their pet from becoming obese. Pugs have short, soft fur, and come in yellowish-beige, dark brown, and black colors.

The pug is an ideal companion, getting along well with all family members and other animals. However, their exceptional friendliness toward all animals and people makes them less than ideal for being a reliable guard dog. These dogs are incredibly affectionate by nature; they dislike prolonged loneliness and are overjoyed when their beloved owner returns.

This breed is easy to care for and maintain: pugs don't require grooming; brushing and monthly shampooing are sufficient. Pugs eat small but frequent meals, as their stomachs are small. Despite their playful nature, these dogs are lazy, but they do need to be taken for walks, otherwise your pet could become overweight. Their need for active play is one of the many reasons why the pug, the dog from the film "Men in Black," is an ideal choice for a family with children.
