Composition and features
Ribotan is a clear liquid packaged in glass ampoules or clear glass vials of varying sizes. This makes it easy to select the appropriate size based on the animal's weight and the prescribed dosage, although 1 ml ampoules are most commonly sold in pharmacies.

The biological product is based on low-molecular-weight peptides and RNA fragments, which determine the properties and action of the immunomodulator. It also contains sodium chloride and specially prepared water. These components serve only a supporting role.
Since the medication is based on biological substances, certain storage rules must be followed. Choose a dry place for storage, protected from direct ultraviolet rays. The air temperature should be between 2 and 10°C, so it's recommended to store vials of the immunostimulant in the refrigerator or another suitable location. Storage rules must also be followed during transportation.
Please note! If the bottle is opened, any remaining medication not used within 30 minutes must be disposed of according to legal regulations. Storage of such medication is strictly prohibited.
Biological properties
Ribotan has a broad spectrum of action:
- increases the animal's body's defenses;
- stimulates the production of interferon, a protein that is produced in response to infection and provides protection to cells;
- initiates regeneration processes, accelerates the healing of wounds and injuries;
- prevents the manifestation of negative consequences in stressful situations and other negative actions;
- has an antitoxic effect.

When used for both preventative and therapeutic purposes, the drug helps develop resistance to viral infections in the animal's body. Another feature of the drug is its ability to enhance the immunological effect of the vaccine. The drug strengthens immunity against viral diseases and maintains it for a long period.
Price
A package of 10 1 ml ampoules of Ribotan costs an average of 900 rubles in online pharmacies. Many veterinary pharmacies and stores sell ampoules individually. In this case, the cost per ampoule will be approximately 120 rubles. The price may vary depending on the region and pharmacy. Its low price compared to other immunostimulants is also an advantage of Ribotan.
Indications for use
According to the instructions for use, Ribotan is used for cats with various infectious diseases, as well as pathologies that are accompanied by immunodeficiency, to boost the immune system. The drug is also used to prevent pathologies caused by various harmful microorganisms:
- viruses;
- fungi;
- bacteria.
An immunomodulator is also prescribed in the following situations:
- during vaccination;
- in stressful situations;
- after surgeries and serious injuries.

The drug can be used in combination with other medications for diseases of various origins, including those that are non-contagious.
How to apply
Ribotan injections are administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously. The dosage is calculated based on the animal's age:
- Kittens under 3 months of age should be given a single dose of 0.5-1.0 ml.
- For young animals over 3 months old, a single dose is 1-1.5 ml.
- Adult cats and male cats need to be injected with 1-2 ml at a time, depending on size and other factors.
The application regimen depends on whether the immunomodulator is used for prophylactic or therapeutic purposes:
- To prevent viral infections and strengthen the immune system, the drug in the above-mentioned doses should be administered 2-3 times a month.
- When treating infectious pathologies, as well as during periods of high risk of infection (during an epidemic), an injection is given every 3-5 days.
- If symptoms are just beginning to appear, Ribotan injections are given 2-3 times, spaced 3-5 days apart. The exact treatment regimen is determined based on the severity of symptoms, the animal's overall condition, and other factors. If necessary, the course is repeated after 2 weeks.

It is not recommended to violate the prescribed dosage regimen, as this may negatively impact its effectiveness. If the injection is not administered on time for any reason, this should be corrected as soon as possible. The medication should then be used according to the prescribed regimen.
The instructions state that no special effects were observed when the medication was first administered or discontinued, but if you are using the immunomodulator for the first time, monitor your animal's reaction.
Please note! Sterile syringes must be used to administer the medication. The injection site must be cleaned with rubbing alcohol.
Contraindications and side effects
Ribotan is approved for use in cats and kittens of any age. Weight and breed are also irrelevant. The immunomodulator is approved for use in pregnant and lactating females, aging animals, and other animals, regardless of their health.
The immunostimulant is combined with other medications that are used to eliminate the cause of the disease or provide symptomatic treatment.
Ribotan does not cause side effects and is always well tolerated by cats. Doctors and cat owners have not reported any adverse reactions to the drug over long-term use.

Owner reviews
Oksana, owner of a 5-year-old cat:
"After a long period of treatment for pneumonia, Vaska the cat became very weak. On the advice of a friend who works as a veterinarian, we started him on Ribotan injections. We noticed results after the first injection – his appetite improved, and he started following me around the house and begging for food from other family members. We had three injections in total, five days apart. The cat didn't particularly resist the injections, and they were apparently painless."
Victoria, owner of a 4-month-old kitten:
"When the panleukopenia epidemic was raging in the city, I was very worried about my kitten. The doctor recommended a prophylactic injection of Ribotan. I don't know if this drug is truly effective, but ours was spared the disease. I didn't notice any adverse reactions in the cat's body."
Veterinarian Reviews
Andrey, a veterinarian with 12 years of experience:
"Ribotan is a good domestic immunostimulant, although I don't consider it a panacea. I recommend using it with cat vaccinations. Experience shows that immunization is more effective in this case. I also often prescribe it for infectious diseases. My colleagues and I once conducted a small experiment. We found that animals that included the immunostimulant as part of their treatment recovered faster, and in severe cases, they recovered more often."
Valentina Petrovna, veterinarian:
"There's a wide selection of domestic and foreign immunostimulants on the market. I'm quite wary of some of them, although I sometimes use Ribotan in my practice. Considering its low price, it's effective and helps combat various infectious diseases, although I wouldn't call it the best among similar medications. I haven't encountered any side effects in my practice, so the medication definitely won't harm your pet."
