ProColin Plus for dogs

ProKolin is a food supplement containing prebiotics and probiotics. It is primarily used to restore intestinal microflora in dogs after antibiotic use, stress, and other situations. The brand name is Pro Kolin, and it is manufactured by the British company Probiotics International Ltd.

Composition and features

ProColin is available as a thick paste. It's packaged in polymer syringes, making it easy to measure the required amount. Syringes are available in three different sizes: 15, 30, and 60 ml. This allows dog owners to choose the appropriate size based on their pet's weight and size.

The paste contains the following components:

  1. Enterococcus faecium probiotics help restore beneficial microflora in the intestines. Beneficial bacteria inhibit the growth of harmful microorganisms, particularly Salmonella and E. coli.
  2. Preplex, a prebiotic, serves as a nutritional base for the growth of beneficial microorganisms. It consists of oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. Their key feature is that oligosaccharides are quickly absorbed and fermented, while polysaccharides are absorbed over a prolonged period. This allows the product to be effective over a long period of time.
  3. Pectin reduces intestinal inflammation.
  4. Kaolin improves the absorption of fluid in the intestines, resulting in the formation of dense stools.
  5. Soybean oil helps remove toxic substances from the body and also improves the taste of the feed additive.

ProColin also contains beef flavoring, which makes most dogs eat it without compulsion.

How it works

Thanks to the combination of prebiotics and probiotics, Pro Kolin has the following effect on the animal’s body:

  • restores normal intestinal microflora;
  • suppresses the activity of harmful microorganisms;
  • stimulates the immune system;
  • helps to cope with the effects of stress;
  • improves appetite;
  • improves the absorption of nutrients and weight gain.

The paste contains beneficial bacteria that actively multiply in the intestines thanks to the prebiotics it contains. During their life cycle, they create an acidic environment, thereby inhibiting the growth of Salmonella and E. coli, which prefer alkaline environments.

Probiotics promote better digestion of food in the intestines and enhance the action of digestive enzymes secreted by the pancreas. Without sufficient amounts of these enzymes, food cannot be broken down into smaller particles, and nutrients (vitamins and minerals) are not fully absorbed by the animal's body. ProColin effectively addresses this issue, and by ensuring your pet receives maximum nutritional benefits, they gain weight.

Normal microflora also strengthens the immune system, so the animal can withstand transportation, travel, and other stressful situations without consequences.

Please note! ProColin is a feed supplement, not a medication, and is therefore used as an adjuvant in cases of severe gastrointestinal disorders.

When is it applied?

According to the instructions for use, Procolin is prescribed to dogs in the following cases:

  • after antibacterial therapy;
  • in cases of poisoning by food products and chemicals;
  • for stomach disorders of various origins, including those caused by infections;
  • after treatment for helminths;
  • when changing food, switching to a new type of food;
  • with little weight gain.

ProColin is used for dysbacteriosis, regardless of its origin. The supplement is also recommended for use in various stressful situations:

  • transportation;
  • visiting the veterinarian;
  • arrival of guests;
  • participation in exhibitions, competitions, contests;
  • moving.

Sad dog

Pro Kolin nutritional supplement helps manage the effects of stress, which often manifest as vomiting and nausea. It can prevent these symptoms if administered before a stressful situation.

Features of application

The instructions state that ProColin should be given to dogs on an empty stomach, 30-40 minutes before meals. This will ensure the maximum effect of the supplement. Because it has a beef aroma and flavor, animals readily eat it on their own. If your dog refuses the paste, there are two solutions:

  1. Mix the product with a small amount of your pet's favorite food. Serve the main meal half an hour later.
  2. If the animal refuses any food, for example, in case of severe poisoning, the paste should be applied to the root of the tongue forcibly.

The daily dose for puppies is 1-2 ml, depending on breed and size, and for adult dogs, 2-5 ml. The daily dose is divided into 2-3 doses throughout the day. The duration of treatment depends on the underlying condition and symptoms. For dysbacteriosis, the recommended treatment is 4-6 weeks. After antibiotic treatment, infections, and poisoning, the paste is administered for 2-3 weeks, and in cases of stress, for 10-12 days.

Important! Improvements in your pet's health may occur as early as the second or third day, but ProColin should be continued for at least a week to achieve maximum results.

Procolin has no contraindications. It can be used in dogs of all ages, including puppies. It is suitable for pregnant and lactating females, as well as elderly and weakened animals. The food supplement does not cause any side effects. During the entire period of use of the probiotic, veterinarians have not recorded any allergic or other adverse reactions in animals.

Owner reviews

Oleg, the Labrador's owner:

"Our dog loves picking up all sorts of nasty things from the street. It always ends the same way – with severe stomach upset and vomiting. Before I discovered ProColin, such situations were a real torment for him, as it took a long time for his digestive system to recover. This food supplement returns him to normal after just one dose. It's an excellent product, but it's hard to find in our small town. However, I've found a solution – I order it online."

Irina, owner of a Newfoundland:

"Our dog developed dysbiosis after taking antibiotics. We tried a bunch of probiotics and other remedies, but they didn't work. He kept getting worse. The vet recommended Pro Kolin. My appetite returned on the second day, and my stools became thicker and half as frequent. I now keep a syringe of this product in my medicine cabinet at all times. It's a real lifesaver for digestive issues."

Veterinarian Reviews

Karina, a veterinarian with 12 years of experience:

"An excellent remedy for dysbacteriosis. Its effectiveness is due to the fact that it contains both beneficial bacteria and a suitable environment for their growth. I recommend giving this supplement to dogs during antibiotic treatment or in cases of poisoning. Results are always visible within the first or second day."

Olga, a veterinarian with 6 years of experience:

"Food supplement Pro Kolin is a leader in the European market. In Russia, it's not as popular, especially in smaller towns. The main drawback is the high price, but its effectiveness is worth it. I often recommend this supplement for both puppies and adult pets. Owners give positive reviews. I haven't noticed any side effects."

  • This medication has been a lifesaver for us! Since we started using it, we've been able to avoid many problems. We have a 1.5 kg dog who suffers from hypoglycemia. If digestive issues arise, she refuses to eat, which can lead to an attack. Pro Colin is an instant fix. 1-2 doses, and the dog starts eating on her own. The medication itself is apparently nutritious. There are no attacks while taking it. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. It's easy to find in Moscow.
