Deworming
Deworming is an important part of dog care. Helminths, whether roundworms or tapeworms, not only harm animals but also pose a threat to humans. Timely use of Pratel helps protect your pet and maintain the health of the whole family.

Infected pets are especially dangerous for children, whose immune systems are not yet able to cope with foreign invaders as well as adults. The purpose of the medication is to kill worms present in the intestines, thus preventing the spread of their eggs into the environment.
Why do we need Pratel?
This anthelmintic for pets protects against parasites that can be transmitted to humans:
- roundworms;
- tapeworms.
This is especially important if there are small children in the family, who can easily become infected while playing with animals. Parasitic infections in animals are initially unnoticeable and often asymptomatic. Dogs may exhibit the following symptoms:
- weight loss;
- deterioration of the coat condition;
- violation of the body's defenses;
- pathologies and damage to organs and systems.

Parasite eggs are excreted in large quantities and are microscopic in size, invisible to the naked eye. They are highly resistant in the environment, surviving even in unfavorable climatic conditions. Adult parasites are rarely observed in feces or vomit. Helminth eggs may not be detected in regular feces. For testing, small samples of feces collected over several days should be collected and refrigerated.
Worms infect people initially asymptomatically; diagnosis (disease detection) of parasitic diseases is difficult due to the various stages of worm development and non-specific symptoms:
- loss of appetite;
- diarrhea;
- abdominal pain;
- anemia;
- allergic symptoms;
- cough;
- migraines;
- low mood, etc.
A negative test result does not always mean the absence of the disease.
Storage and price
The product has a shelf life of three years from the production date, which can be found on the packaging. Store in a dry, dark place away from food, animals, and children.
When using the product, it is necessary to follow hygiene standards, and after deworming, wash your hands thoroughly with detergent under running water.
The price of Pratel for dogs is about 60 rubles per tablet.
How often should I use Pratel?
First of all, it's worth noting that deworming is most often a one-time procedure. Pratel tablets are effective against the entire cycle of adult worms and larvae, and deworming treatments with this medication must be repeated regularly every three months. This is the optimal deworming option for dogs, providing maximum protection for your pets.
If necessary, if the dog is heavily infested with worms, the medication should be repeated after ten to fourteen days at the same dose, also before meals. If the infestation is severe, a third or fourth deworming treatment (but no more) may be necessary, also after the above-mentioned time period on an empty stomach.

Internal parasites can be detected in a puppy's digestive tract immediately after birth. They are transmitted during pregnancy or nursing from an infected mother. Deworming with Pratel should therefore not be underestimated and should be started six weeks after birth. This is one of the first procedures a veterinarian performs on puppies. Pratel is available over-the-counter and can be found at any veterinary pharmacy.
However, before administering the medication to your dog, you should consult a veterinarian. If your pet becomes ill after using Pratel (disorientation, vomiting, or foaming at the mouth), seek emergency veterinary care immediately. A moment's delay could cost your pet's life and health.
Indications and principle of action
The drug is indicated for the treatment and prevention of:
- nematodoses;
- cestodiasis;
- complex parasite infestations of varying intensity.
Please note: If your pet is unwell, wait until their condition improves before administering deworming therapy.
Once ingested, the tablet dissolves quickly, and the active ingredients penetrate the animal's bloodstream and tissues. Pratel paralyzes and destroys parasites. It also expels them from the body, eliminating the need for laxatives. The drug is excreted in urine and feces; when administered correctly, it does not accumulate in tissues and is harmless to dogs.

This product is recommended for all ages and breeds, including weakened pets and six-week-old puppies. If you have any chronic conditions, consult a doctor before use.
Instructions
Before using Pratel for dogs, please read the instructions. No dietary restrictions are required before use. Give the tablet before meals in the morning. You can place it on the back of the tongue and wait for your pet to swallow. The round shape and small size make this easy.
The dose is calculated and rounded based on the dog's size:
- 2 kg – a quarter of a tablet;
- 5 kg – half a tablet;
- 10 kg – tablet;
- 20 kg – two tablets.
In severe cases of infestation, deworming can be repeated after seven days. For prevention, Pratel for dogs is administered every three months, as directed. This treatment is mandatory before vaccinations and mating. If there are several animals in the family, all are treated.

Owner reviews
Daria, owner of a Caucasian Shepherd:
"I bought Pratel for helminth infestation prevention. I'd previously used antiparasitic tablets made for humans, but a large dog requires a higher dosage, and veterinarians say human medications aren't suitable for animals. So I decided to look for something at the veterinary pharmacy. We chose Pratel because the manufacturer is well-known and trusted. Even though it's not a suspension, feeding it to the dog was quite easy. I crushed the tablets in a mortar and pestle and added them to ground meat. There were no side effects whatsoever. Tyson is healthy and playful. I recommend it to all pet owners."
Vladislav, owner of a Giant Schnauzer kennel:
"To be honest, Pratel's price tempted me, although I was a bit hesitant about choosing it, unsure how it would work on my dogs. I have ten dogs in my kennel, so I need large quantities. I decided to buy it and administer preventative deworming. At first, I put the tablets in their food, but they refused to eat them. I had to apply the medication to the back of their tongues. The tablets went down easily. Now my dogs are parasite-free, and I'm calm and confident about that."
Valery, husky owner:
"I dewormed my Leda with Pratel tablets; she had a lot of worms. I liked the product and tested its effectiveness on my dog. However, I still think its effectiveness depends largely on the number of worms in the animal's body, as they're not limited to the intestines. Therefore, before getting a pet, you need to consider the time and money it will take, as its health and well-being are priceless."
Veterinarian Reviews
Marina, a veterinarian with 7.5 years of experience:
"I've been using Pratel in my practice since I started working in veterinary medicine. I recommend the tablets to all pet owners, taking them at the required dosage every three months. I've never had any side effects. The medication is effective and eliminates worms very effectively. I've also tried prescribing suspensions, but they often don't live up to expectations. Pratel, however, is an excellent treatment for both treating and preventing worm infestations."
Yulia, a veterinarian with 2 years of experience:
"I use Pratel tablets to address deworming issues before mating and vaccinations. I also have a dog, so I chose the product carefully. I'm pleased with the price, quality, and effectiveness of this product. All the animals dewormed with Pratel felt great, full of strength and energy. I recommend these tablets to all pet owners."

I bought Pratel GX6106, spent 3,500 rubles (100 tablets). And now I'm going to have to throw it in the trash. The "Different Breeds" kennel didn't work on a single dog. After using Pratel, not a single worm came out. Seven days later, I tried again with other products, and worms started coming out. This is a reliable and good product. I contacted the company—we've been working together for 10 years—and they said it wasn't our fault, but the manufacturer's.
