Polivak-TM is a vaccine used to prevent and treat dermatomycosis in dogs. It is produced by the domestic company Narvak. It helps treat or prevent fungal infections, including those that can be transmitted from animals to humans.

Composition and release form

The vaccine contains 8 different fungi from the genus Microsporum and Trichophyton, so it creates immunity against various types of dermatomycosis, as well as lichen, which is transmitted to humans. Polivak is a light-brown injectable liquid. A distinctive feature is the presence of a sediment that forms during storage. It dissolves easily with gentle shaking.

Polivak-TM is available for both dogs and cats. Choose the medication according to its intended use, as each bottle contains a specific dosage for each animal species.

Pharmacological properties and indications for use

After two administrations of the drug with a time interval in the animal’s body, immunity to fungi such as Trichophyton and Microsporum is formed in 20-30 days (read about it on our website) trichophytosis in dogs). It lasts for 12 months, after which it is necessary to carry out a booster vaccination.

According to the instructions, Polivak-TM is used for the treatment and prevention of dermatomycosis in dogs. Many pets, including those who spend most of their time indoors, face these conditions. If left untreated, ringworm or fungus can become chronic, affecting overall health. The following symptoms indicate dermatomycosis:

  • baldness;
  • redness of bald areas;
  • itching;
  • peeling of the skin, etc.

If you experience any of these symptoms, do not rush to get the vaccine. Consult your doctor first, as the drug has contraindications.

The cost of a single dose of Polivak for dogs ranges from 45 to 57 rubles. Some pharmacies only sell a package (10 units).

The vaccine is administered once, and if the risk of infection is high, the procedure is repeated after 14 days.

When using the drug for treatment, the doses should be as follows:

  • for puppies aged 1 to 10 months – 0.5 ml;

Owner reviews

Gregory, the owner Afghan hound:

"I know from a friend's experience what consequences ringworm can have. My Afghan hound competes in various shows every year, and her coat is her greatest asset. Therefore, I regularly use Polivak for prevention. My dog tolerates the vaccinations well."

Anastasia, the pug's owner:

"After the move, the dog started shedding heavily. The vet recommended a vaccine to prevent dermatitis. The first injection was Polivak for dogs, and the second was for cats. Afterward, a fistula developed at the injection site, which we haven't been able to get rid of for three weeks. I don't know who's to blame—the medication or the incompetent vet who administered the wrong injection."

Veterinarian Reviews

Victoria, a veterinarian with 8 years of experience:

"Polivak is a safe domestic vaccine. In my experience, I have not encountered any adverse reactions. If the drug is administered to an infected animal, the disease may worsen. Owners should not be concerned about this. They should simply follow the doctor's prescribed treatment."

Sergey, a veterinarian with 10 years of experience:

"Polivak is an inexpensive antifungal vaccine from a domestic manufacturer. I can't say anything bad about the drug, although I've often seen reviews about its low effectiveness. I usually prescribe it to my patients." Vakderm.
