Composition and release form
Otibiovin is available as ear drops for animals. It is a clear, colorless liquid, though it may be slightly cloudy. It is packaged in special bottles made from a safe polymer, and its key feature is the built-in dropper. This ensures simple and convenient use. There's no need to look for pipettes or other accessories to measure out the required amount of medication.

The complex action is provided by three active components:
- triamcinolone acetonide;
- salicylic acid;
- gentamicin sulfate.
The auxiliary components of the drug include distilled water and ethanol.
Operating principle
The active ingredients in the formula differ in their properties, but together they work together to address the underlying cause of the disease and effectively solve the problem. The drug's unique feature is that it destroys pathogens and eliminates symptoms.
The effectiveness of the drug is due to its active components:
- Gentamicin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. This antibacterial agent is effective against virtually all gram-negative and most gram-positive bacteria. It also has antifungal properties.
- Salicylic acid has pronounced antiseptic properties. It also has a soothing effect on inflamed areas of the skin.
- Triamcinolone acetone reduces inflammation. This semi-synthetic corticosteroid reduces swelling, redness, and other symptoms of inflammation.

Indications for use
The instructions contain information that Otibiovin for dogs is used to treat the following pathologies:
- otitis externa caused by bacterial or yeast injections;
- eczema of the auricles or ear canal;
- superficial dermatitis.
The medicine can also be used for purulent wounds, fistulas and abscesses, as it has a complex effect on the body.
Important! This medication can be used to treat complex ear infections, but only after examination and identification of the pathogen. The affected ear must be sensitive to the active ingredients of the medication. Do not use the drops without a doctor's prescription.
Price
The price of Otibiovin ear drops for dogs ranges from 520 to 600 rubles. A 20 ml bottle, which the medication is packaged in, is usually enough for one course of treatment. The medication can be purchased at any regular veterinary pharmacy or ordered online.
Instructions for use
When using Otibiovin ear drops for dogs, follow these steps:
- The ear canal should be cleaned of any crusts and scabs. If the ear canal is clear, this step can be skipped.
- Place drops of the solution into the ear canal.
- Gently massage the ear and the area around it to help the medication penetrate better into the inflamed tissue.

During the first three days, ear drops are administered 3-4 times a day, depending on the symptoms, the severity of the disease, and the animal's overall condition. A single dose is 4-5 drops. If the inflammation is bilateral, both ears must be treated. The dosage does not depend on the animal's breed, age, or weight.
Three days after the start of treatment, the instillation procedure is repeated 2-3 times a day, with the dosage remaining unchanged. Treatment duration is usually 5-7 days. For severe conditions, the course of treatment with Otibiovin may be extended to 12 days.
Important! Antibacterial ear drops should be used for three more days after the clinical signs of the disease have disappeared. This is the only way to completely eliminate the cause of the condition (bacteria or fungi) and prevent recurrence.
Contraindications and side effects
The advantage of this medication is that it has virtually no contraindications. Individual hypersensitivity to any of its components should be avoided, although this is rare. In this case, an allergic reaction may occur. If redness, itching, or a rash occurs, Otibiovin should be replaced with another medication.

Be careful! Do not use Otibiovin ear drops to treat a ruptured eardrum in dogs. A veterinarian should examine the animal's ears before starting treatment.
What are the advantages?
This ear infection treatment from a Czech manufacturer has many advantages:
- High efficiency. If the pathogen is sensitive to the antibacterial agent contained in Otibiovin, treatment is effective. If measures are taken promptly, complications can be avoided.
- Fast action. Redness, pain, swelling, itching and other symptoms usually disappear within the second or third day of using the drug.
- Convenient packaging. The polymer bottle is equipped with a dropper, making the ear drops very convenient to use.
- Simple dosage calculation. The dosage for small dogs, puppies, and large pets is the same, so there's no need to get confused with the calculations. The treatment regimen is also simple, although it does have its own unique features.
- No side effects. The medicine is well tolerated by animals and does not cause side effects.
- Virtually no contraindications. The only contraindication is a ruptured eardrum. Otherwise, Otibiovin can be used in all animal categories, including puppies and aging pets.

Storage rules and safety measures
The drug is undemanding in terms of storage, but some conditions should still be observed:
- The storage place must be dry.
- The medicine should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
- The air temperature should be maintained between 15 and 25˚C.
Please note! Otibiovin has a 2-year shelf life, but once opened, the solution can only be used within 12 days.
Take simple precautions:
- Keep drops out of reach of animals and children.
- Do not use empty bottles of the drug for household purposes.
- For storage, choose a place away from feed and food products.
- After handling the medicine (applying drops to your pet's ears), wash your hands thoroughly.
- People with hypersensitivity should take additional precautions and wear rubber gloves.
- If an allergy occurs, consult a doctor.
- If the medicinal solution comes into contact with mucous membranes or skin, it must be washed off with water.

Owner reviews
Tatyana, owner of a golden retriever:
"Our dog, whom we love dearly, has allergies. They manifest themselves as large amounts of burgundy-colored wax in his ears, and the cause is unknown. We tried a ton of medications to solve the problem, but nothing worked. The vet recommended Otibiovin drops. It's an effective medication. He started feeling better on the second day, and within five days, we forgot all about the problem."
Michael, the beagle's owner:
"Our dog developed a severe purulent ear infection. At first, we tried to solve the problem ourselves—rinsing with hydrogen peroxide, but it didn't work. On the veterinarian's advice, we started using Otibiovin drops. It's an excellent product, as on the second day of use, the dog stopped scratching his ear, and after four days, all symptoms had completely resolved, even though the condition was quite advanced."
Veterinarian Reviews
Victor, a veterinarian with 11 years of experience:
"Otibiovin is an effective ear drop for dogs with a broad spectrum of action. Typically, 3-5 days of use is enough to eliminate ear problems. I know from colleagues that there have been cases of intolerance to the ingredients, but I've never encountered anything like that in my practice, even though I've been using the product for a long time to treat dogs and cats."
Valentina, a veterinarian with 13 years of experience:
"Excellent ear drops from a Czech manufacturer. They help quickly relieve inflammation, pus discharge, itching, and other symptoms. A significant drawback is the relatively high price. I rarely use them in my practice, as there are cheaper alternatives from domestic manufacturers. The broad spectrum of action is the main advantage. The product not only eliminates the cause but also quickly relieves the symptoms, improving the animal's condition."

Last night, my ear started shooting pain, so bad. I couldn't find anything in the human medicine cabinet, but I had Otibiovin in the dog one. I put some drops in my ear at night. I slept that night. I put some more drops in the morning. Now I'm sitting at work, and my ear doesn't hurt or shoot up. I'm debating whether to continue the treatment with the human medication or with Otibiovin. It seems the formula allows for it.
