Content
Composition and properties
The substance is thick and usually dark gray or brown in color. It has a distinctive herbal odor. This medication is intended for external use and should never be ingested by animals.

Its key feature is its high effectiveness, thanks to its comprehensive action. This is ensured by the product's composition. It includes:
- Zinc oxide has a drying effect, regulates sebum secretion and eliminates inflammation.
- Sulfur is one of the key components, possessing anti-inflammatory properties. It destroys pathogenic microorganisms, prevents their further proliferation, and accelerates the skin's regeneration process.
- Salicylic acid is a powerful antiseptic with excellent antibacterial properties. It helps cleanse the epidermis of ectoparasite waste products and dead skin cells.
- Gum turpentine has pronounced antiparasitic properties. Its action is detrimental not only to ticks but also to fungi and harmful microorganisms.
- Birch tar is a natural substance widely used in the treatment of skin conditions. It relieves inflammation and dries the skin. It supplies the epidermis with essential minerals and nutrients, actively participating in the regeneration process.
- Lysol destroys pathogenic microorganisms, as it has pronounced disinfectant properties.
- Lanolin and petroleum jelly serve as the ointment's base. They soften the epidermis and prevent dryness that can be caused by the product's active ingredients.
Due to its rich composition, YAM BK cream has the following effect:
- destroys ticks, fungi and microorganisms that cause the development of the disease;
- promotes the separation of dead cells and restoration of the skin;
- has antiseptic and antibacterial properties;
- relieves inflammatory processes;
- moisturizes and softens the epidermis, accelerating its healing;
- nourishes skin cells with useful substances;
- reduces excessive sebum production;
- cleanses the epidermis of toxins and waste products of harmful organisms.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Yam BK ointment is used for cats to treat the following diseases:
- dermatitis, caused by sarcoptic and psoroptoid mites;
- eczema;
- scabies;
- trichophytosis;
- microsporia (ringworm).
This medication can only be used after a diagnosis has been established. A doctor's consultation is required.

If you notice hair loss, bald spots, redness, itching, or other unpleasant symptoms on your pet, consult a doctor immediately. Left untreated, ringworm can lead to serious health problems. Furthermore, the disease is contagious to humans.
Instructions for use
If your animal develops dermatological diseases, when using the drug, you must perform the following steps:
- Stir the contents of the polymer jar, as the components tend to separate during long-term storage.
- Apply a thin layer of the medication to the affected areas. No need to trim the fur or remove any crusts.
- Treat the area around the affected areas, leaving a 2-4 cm margin from the edges. This will help prevent further spread of the disease.
- Gently rub the ointment into the skin.

These steps should be repeated 1-2 times daily. Treatment can last from a week to 10 days, after which repeat testing is required. If fungal or pathogenic microorganisms are detected, the course of treatment is repeated.
Special instructions
To ensure treatment is effective and safe, you should follow simple but important recommendations:
- Do not brush your animal's fur until it has recovered, otherwise the brush or comb will spread the disease to other parts of the body.
- Don't let your cat lick the medication. Use a collar or leash after the procedure. Remove it after half an hour. A bandage can also be applied.
- If there are several animals in the house, the sick pet should be isolated from the others to prevent the spread of the disease.
- Carry out treatment in a timely manner, as increasing the time interval may affect the effectiveness of the medicine.
- Do not use YAM BK after the expiration date. This date is always indicated on the packaging.

It is equally important to take precautions:
- Animal handling should be carried out using disposable gloves to prevent the possibility of infection.
- After the procedure, be sure to wash your hands with soap.
- Polymer medicine jars cannot be used for household purposes.
- If an allergic reaction occurs due to contact with the ointment, seek medical attention.

Owner reviews
Oksana, owner of a 3-year-old cat:
"When our cat developed the characteristic scaly patches on her head associated with ringworm, we immediately went to the hospital. The vet prescribed an ointment for topical treatment, explaining its safety. We applied it for a week. Now there's no trace of the ringworm left. The fur quickly grew back in the scaly areas. It's an inexpensive and effective treatment. Special thanks to our vet."
Victoria, owner of a 4-month-old kitten:
"We used Yam BK to treat ringworm on our kitten. After applying it, it started burning, and we had to wash it off immediately. We weren't able to test the effectiveness of the product. I would like to point out to cat owners that this product is quite dangerous."
Veterinarian Reviews
Vadim, a veterinarian with 7 years of experience:
"Yam BK ointment is considered a safe and versatile treatment for dermatitis and ringworm, used in both animals and humans. I do not use this medication, nor any other topical medications. Specialized vaccines (Polivak, Vakderm) are much more effective and easier to treat."
Svetlana, a veterinarian with 4 years of experience:
"An affordable and effective medication from a domestic manufacturer. I often prescribe it for ringworm. In my practice, I've only had one case of severe irritation; the other animals tolerated the medication well."

The instructions for YaM ointment don't mention cats. It contains phenol (found in tar and cresol). Cats are hypersensitive to phenol. Don't risk it.

That's correct. Preparations containing phenol and tar are CONTRAINDICATED for cats, so using Yam ointment (Yam BK) for ringworm is not recommended, as it may cause health problems. Therefore, it's always important to consult a veterinarian when choosing a treatment plan, as self-prescribed medications may not only fail to help, but may actually worsen your pet's condition.
