Composition and release form
The drug's key feature lies in its composition. It was developed in 1995 by Ligpharm under the leadership of Doctor of Biological Sciences V.S. Buzlama, but to this day, the medication remains unique worldwide.

The main component is humic substances. They are obtained by hydrolysis from woody plant cells called lignin. The composition also includes:
- sodium chloride;
- demineralized water;
- sodium pyrophosphate decahydrate.
Ligfol is a solution for intramuscular injection. This sterile liquid is dark in color and has a distinctive odor. It is packaged in ampoules or vials made of clear or dark glass. The vials are sealed with rubber stoppers and aluminum caps to maintain a hermetic seal.
Pharmacological properties
The drug's advantage is its broad spectrum of action. The manufacturer claims its high efficacy. Numerous studies have been conducted to confirm its effectiveness.
Ligfol is an adaptogenic stress corrector. It reduces stress during times of stress (visiting exhibitions, moving, visiting the veterinarian) and minimizes potential consequences (apathy, loss of appetite, behavioral changes). It also increases the body's resistance to various external factors.

The drug has the following pharmacological properties:
- slows down the growth and development of benign and malignant tumors;
- has an anti-metastatic effect;
- accelerates the healing of wounds and surgical sutures;
- reduces the toxic effects of chemotherapy and potent drugs;
- neutralizes radicals;
- has an antiviral effect;
- initiates cell regeneration;
- improves the functioning of the reproductive system;
- reduces the risk of stillbirth of puppies, etc.
Price
The price of Ligfol for dogs depends on the packaging size:
- ampoules or vials of 1 ml – 180-230 rubles;
- 100 ml bottles – 2000-2400 rubles.
Indications for use
The drug was originally developed to combat cancer. According to the instructions, Ligfol is prescribed for dogs for the following conditions:
- for breast tumors;
- with fibrosacroma;
- in venereal sarcoma;
- in case of mastopathy;
- in ganglioma;
- for other benign and malignant tumors.
The drug is often used in combination with chemotherapy or radiotherapy, as well as after surgery to prevent metastases and improve the course of the rehabilitation period.

To reduce stress, Ligfol is used before events that can cause it:
- visiting exhibitions;
- transportation;
- the arrival of guests;
- the owner's departure;
- going to the hospital and so on.
The medicine is also used for the following pathologies:
- enteritis;
- hepatitis and other liver lesions;
- viral diseases;
- pancreatic diseases;
- burns, wounds and other injuries.
Before mating, the medication is used to enhance productivity and reduce the risk of stillbirth. Administration of Ligfol during pregnancy allows the puppies to be born strong and healthy, and the bitch to recover quickly after birth.

Using the medication during vaccination enhances the body's response, boosting immunity, and reduces the risk of adverse reactions. When used as part of combination therapy, it shortens the acute phase of the disease and accelerates recovery.
How to apply
The instructions for use detail the specifics of Ligfol use for dogs in each specific case. Regardless of the intended purpose, the medication is prescribed at a dosage of 0.1 ml per 1 kg of animal. The dosage regimen depends on the intended use.
At oncology The following treatment regimen is used:
- Initially, 6 to 12 injections are given daily, depending on the severity of the disease.
- Afterwards, 4-5 injections are given every third day.
- Then, injections are given once a week. The exact amount is determined by the doctor.
If malignant tumors are accompanied by metastases, Ligfol is used for life, with one injection per month.
If the medication is used to reduce stress, it is taken once 3-5 days before the expected event.
For infectious diseases, the drug is administered as a single injection in the same doses on the first, second, fifth, and tenth days of treatment. It boosts immunity and accelerates the progression of the disease. It is used only in combination with other medications.

To speed up the rehabilitation period after surgery, the drug can be used before and after surgery according to the following scheme:
- If the drug is used before surgery, it is administered once every 5 days.
- After surgery, one injection is administered every third day. A total of three to five injections are required until tissue regeneration and wound healing are achieved.
- When used locally, wounds are irrigated with the solution 1 to 4 times a day until they begin to heal.
For hepatitis and other liver diseases, the medication is used in combination with other medications. Typically, 7-10 injections are given, one shot per day, every other day (i.e., one shot is given on one day, two are skipped). For pancreatic diseases, up to six injections are required, given three days apart.
To ensure healthy offspring and ease pregnancy in female dogs, Ligfol is administered 10, 6, and 3 days before mating. For prevention, puppies are given injections once a month, starting at 3 weeks of age.
According to the instructions, Ligfol is considered safe for dogs. It has no adverse effects on the body and is approved for use in puppies and pregnant dogs, but a doctor's consultation is required before use.
Contraindications and side effects
Ligfol has no contraindications. Its use should be discontinued only in cases of individual intolerance to its components, manifested by an allergic reaction. This is quite rare.

Injections of the drug are painful and can cause anxiety in the pet, which is usually manifested by the following symptoms:
- throwing;
- whining;
- pumping from place to place;
- howl, etc.
No special measures are necessary if such symptoms appear. They resolve on their own, without outside intervention.
Storage conditions
It's important to maintain proper storage conditions, otherwise the medication will lose its potency. Ligfol should be stored in a dry place, protected from sunlight. The temperature should be between 10 and 25˚C.
Once opened, the solution can be used within 24 hours. Afterward, it must be disposed of according to current legislation.
Advantages and disadvantages
The main advantages include the following:
- broad spectrum of action;
- various packaging sizes – from 1 to 500 ml;
- safety (does not cause side effects and does not have a toxic effect on the body);
- versatility (can be used for treatment and prevention);
- has antitumor effect;
- has no contraindications.
The method of administration is a drawback. Not all dog owners are skilled or able to administer injections to their pets. Furthermore, injections are painful, so after the first shot, the animal may resist treatment.
Owner reviews
Antonina, owner of a cocker spaniel:
"Our beauty gave birth to two stillborn puppies. On the advice of a friend, I used Ligfol during her last pregnancy. All the puppies were born alive and healthy. They were such strong babies and gained weight quickly. The mother also recovered quickly from the birth. It's a good product."
Vadim, the boxer's owner:
"We used Ligfol in combination with other medications for cancer. I don't know if the drug itself was effective or if it was the combination treatment that was successful, but the dog recovered. The long and painful treatment is over, and now our dog is as active and playful as ever."
Veterinarian Reviews
Leonid, a veterinarian with 5 years of experience:
"I used Ligfol for two years to treat cancerous tumors. Dogs tolerate the medication well, but the results sometimes leave much to be desired. In half the cases, the medication was found to be ineffective, so I decided to discontinue it to prevent owners from wasting money."
Olga, a veterinarian with 9 years of experience:
"I use this product for prophylaxis during pregnancy and childbirth, and I also recommend it to owners to boost their immune system. I have noted its high effectiveness. There have been no recorded cases of stillbirths after using the medication. I once included Ligfol in a combination treatment for cancer. The tumor significantly shrank in size. A modern miracle drug."
