Dog Paw Wash: Which One to Choose?

To clean dirty paws after a walk, pet accessory manufacturers have come up with a wonderful device called a dog paw washer. For those unsure which model to choose or who have never heard of paw washers, we offer some helpful information.

What is it?

A paw washer is a container that is filled with water with dog shampoo added. It can be made in the shape of a mug, a plastic cup of various sizes, or something resembling a suitcase. However, each device usually comes with a hermetically sealed lid, making it easy to take with you when visiting or traveling. Inside the container are brushes that remove dirt. To do this, simply place your pet's paw inside and move it up and down. A few movements are enough to clean the container. All you have to do is choose one of the models offered by manufacturers.

Model overview

There are a variety of paw washers on the market from various manufacturers. When choosing, consider your pet's size first, as this will determine the diameter of the cup. Price will also be a deciding factor for many. We've reviewed several paw washers, and you're sure to find the perfect fit for your dog.

Recommendation! If you purchase a paw washer without gloves or a towel included, you will need to purchase them separately. After washing, dry your dog's paws to avoid leaving wet marks.

Dog's paws after washing

Paw Plunger (USA)

One of the most popular among dog owners. It resembles a lid with a cup, equipped with a brush system inside. A rubber cap on top prevents water from splashing during cleaning. The brushes are easily removed, so they and the container itself can be quickly washed if needed. The manufacturer, Paw Plunger, offers four options:

  • Large – for large dogs (30 kg and more).
  • Medium – for animals weighing 10-30 kg.
  • Petit – for dogs up to 10 kg.

Paw Plunger prices range from 980 rubles for models for small pets to at least 1850 rubles for a large paw washer.

Paw Wash (USA)

Another interesting model, this one looks more like a flower vase than a paw washer. The mouth of the paw washer has a rubber seal that prevents splashing without hurting your dog's paw. Paw Wash models are available for both small and large breeds. The unit also comes with a towel-like glove.

Price – from 1000 rubles.

Clean Dog

This device is a cup with a silicone plate covered with numerous bristles. The soft and smooth, yet flexible material is gentle on your pet. However, the cup doesn't have a lid, so you can't fill it with water beforehand. Clean Dog is available in three sizes to suit your pet's size: S, M, and L.

Price: from 990 rubles.

Clean Dog Paw Washer

Paw Boss (Switzerland)

Compared to other paw washers, the Paw Boss stands out due to its rather massive size and more complex design. The unit is a rectangular structure with several containers connected by waterways. To fill the container with water, simply tilt the paw washer, and to drain the dirty water after washing, tilt it again, but in the opposite direction. Thanks to its special design, you can get a portion of clean water for the next paw wash without adding water from outside. The bottom of the container is covered with a rubber pimple mat, which makes it easier to clean the paw pads.

The price of Paw Boss is about $30.

Reviews

Like any invention, the dog paw washer has both positive and negative reviews among pet owners.

Victor:

"We often travel by car and just go for walks outside the city, so the paw washer has been a useful purchase. It's a lifesaver on the road when we have to drive in rainy weather. I can only imagine the state of the seat upholstery if the dog was constantly jumping on it with dirty paws. But now the dog is clean after every walk and the car is in good condition. I highly recommend it, especially for travelers like us!"

Elena:

"I recently got this device for my two dogs: one is 5 and the other is 6 years old. Previously, I had to wash them in the bathtub, and they clearly didn't enjoy it. But with this new paw washer, they quickly figured out they don't have to go to the bathroom anymore: just soak their paws in this jar and they can go to rest. A big plus for me is that washing paws takes much less time now, and everything cleans just as well. However, in rainy weather, when dogs get even their bellies dirty, a bath is essential."

Novel:

"We bought this marvel of technology on the advice of friends, and the dog easily endured a couple of washings. But one day, we decided to wipe his paws with a light-colored towel, and it was left with dirty streaks after each paw. We double-checked the correct use, following the instructions and watching videos online, but found no secrets. Some even suggested sticking your hand in the container to thoroughly rinse his paws. In this case, washing is no different from washing in a regular bucket or basin. The only difference is the cost of the equipment."
