Lactobifadol is a medication containing lactobacilli and bifidobacteria. It is used to restore and maintain intestinal microflora in dogs, as well as to boost immunity and promote healthy development in puppies. The medication is developed and manufactured by the Russian company "Komponent," with production facilities in the Orenburg region.

Lactobifadol is a powder of uniform consistency. It is usually beige in color, but may also have a yellowish or almost white tint. It is packaged in polyethylene bags, which are hermetically sealed at the factory. 50g bags are also placed in a cardboard box, while larger bags are sold without secondary packaging. However, their purchase is advisable for large farm animals (cows, horses) or for group housing.
The product contains bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. They are specially dried using modern equipment, ensuring they fully retain their properties. Their advantage is that they are adapted for animals and can quickly multiply in the intestines. Wheat flour serves as an auxiliary component.
Biological properties
The medication's effectiveness is achieved through its high content of beneficial bacteria. Once they enter the intestines, they begin to multiply and produce lactic acid, which helps displace pathogenic bacteria, including Salmonella, Proteus, E. coli, and other pathogens that cause intestinal infections.
The drug also has the following effects on the body:

Indications for use
The medicine is prescribed for dogs in the following cases:
- in case of dysbacteriosis, regardless of the reason for its occurrence;
- for digestive disorders (diarrhea, constipation, vomiting);
- in case of infectious intestinal lesions;
- to boost immunity.
The drug can be used to prevent dysbacteriosis and gastrointestinal disorders. It is often used as part of a combination therapy in the following cases:
- in pathologies of the kidneys, liver, pancreas;
- during the rehabilitation period after surgery, injuries or serious illnesses.
Lactobifadol helps restore intestinal microflora after antibiotic therapy and anthelmintic medication, as well as stressful events (transportation, owner departure, hospital visits, etc.). If administered before stress, it helps the pet cope without adverse effects.
The drug is recommended for puppies during the growth period, pregnant and lactating females, and aging animals that are at high risk of developing age-related dysbacteriosis.
Please note! Lactobifadol has no contraindications. It can be used for young puppies and adult pets of any age. Breed, weight, and overall health are irrelevant.
Instructions for use
One of the drug's key advantages is its ease of use. According to the instructions, Laktobifadol is given to dogs daily. Depending on the pet's health and characteristics, the dosage is 0.2-0.4 g per kilogram of body weight. For example, an animal weighing over 10 kg will require only ¼ teaspoon of powder, while a small puppy will require just a few grains. Treatment duration is typically 5-7 days, but can be adjusted by a doctor on an individual basis. Even continuous use is permitted.
The powder is given once a day. It is mixed with food, water, or milk. For young puppies, the powder is diluted with liquid and then fed to the animal. Since the powder has no specific taste or odor and mixes with water or food, owners usually have no problems feeding it to their pet.
Even in case of overdose, the drug is well tolerated by pets and does not cause side effects.
If you miss a dose of Lactobifadol for any reason, no special measures are necessary; simply continue taking it at the same dose and according to the same schedule. Do not heat the powder or food mixed with it. This will kill the beneficial bacteria, and the product will lose its therapeutic properties. If you mix the powder with cooked food, such as porridge, do so after the food has cooled.
Important! Concomitant use of this medication with oral antibacterial agents is not recommended. Administration of antimicrobials by other routes is permitted.
Special instructions
To preserve Lactobifadol's biological properties, it is important to store it at a temperature between 2 and 10˚C. Refrigerate after purchase. However, transporting the medication at higher temperatures (up to 25°C) is permitted. Lactobifadol can be stored at these temperatures for up to 15 days.
The product should not be used on animals in the following cases:
- the expiration date has expired (indicated on the packaging);
- the powder became lumpy and changed its consistency;
- the product contains foreign impurities;
- the color of the powder has changed.
If, after purchasing the product, you discover that the packaging is not sealed, do not use it on animals. In each of the above cases, the powder should be disposed of. No special measures are required, as Lactobifadol does not contain hazardous chemicals.
