Composition and action
The probiotic formula is based on live cultures of microorganisms that are dried using a sorption method using a natural plant carrier.
1 g of the drug contains at least:
- 1 million lactobacilli (acidophilus);
- 80 million bifidobacteria.
Additionally, the composition includes organic acids, a complex of vitamins, macro- and microelements, but their exact name and quantity are not indicated.
Once in the intestines, live bacteria produce lactic acid and other substances that inhibit the proliferation of pathogenic and putrefactive microorganisms (including salmonella, staphylococci, Escherichia coli, etc.). They also stimulate the restoration of microflora and appetite and support digestive processes to eliminate diarrhea or constipation. Combined with vitamin and mineral supplements, the product has a positive effect on the animal's immune system, optimizes metabolic processes, maintains the structure of articular cartilage and skeleton, prevents obesity, and normalizes weight.
The balanced formula provides the body with enzymes, biologically active additives and vitamins, which help improve liver function, coat, and skin condition. The product provides a protective effect against harmful substances and carcinogenic factors found in the environment or produced in cats.

Price of the drug
The price of Lactobifadol may vary depending on where it's purchased. On average, a 50-gram package costs 105-135 rubles. The probiotic can be purchased at pet stores and veterinary pharmacies, as well as online.
Indications for use
According to the instructions for use, Lactobifadol is suitable for use in various cases where it is necessary to maintain a healthy balance of intestinal microflora:
- to normalize digestion and appetite, maintain normal microbiocenosis (qualitative and quantitative composition of microorganisms) of the gastrointestinal tract, including in the postoperative period;
- for the treatment and prevention of constipation/diarrhea of various etiologies;
- to normalize metabolic processes, the condition of the skin and coat, and strengthen the immune system, including in preparation for competitions or exhibitions;
- for viral infections to prevent bacterial complications;
- in the treatment of diseases of the skin, joints, gastrointestinal tract, liver, kidneys as an additional remedy;
- during pregnancy of a cat to give birth to healthy offspring and after birth to maintain lactation;
- for artificially fed kittens up to 30 days old for the prevention or treatment of dysbacteriosis;
- after poisoning, antibiotic therapy, a course of hormonal drugs, deworming, taking hormonal, antihistamine, antitumor and other drugs;
- in case of a tendency to frequent illnesses in animals of different ages.

Instructions for use
To calculate a single dose of Lactobifadol, use the following formula: 0.1-0.2 g of powder per 1 kg of animal weight. It's convenient to measure the portion using an electronic scale, but if you don't have one, you can use a teaspoon, which holds 9 g of probiotic. For kittens weighing up to 1 kg, a serving will consist of just a few grains; for animals up to 10 kg, no more than ¼ teaspoon; for animals over 10 kg, up to half a teaspoon.
The powder should be given to the cat once or twice a day with food or water. The duration of use depends on the initial goal:
- for prevention: from 10-15 days to several months;
- for treatment: until a stable clinical effect is achieved.
Important! The powder should not be diluted with hot liquid or mixed with hot food, as high temperatures will kill live strains and Lactobifadol will have no effect.

Additional recommendations
When using Lactobifadol, consider the following helpful recommendations to ensure maximum benefit:
- The bacteria in the probiotic are resistant to most antibiotics, which allows it to be used in combination with parenteral (subcutaneous, intradermal, intramuscular) by introducing the indicated drugs.
- During the first few days of treatment, changes in bowel habits are possible, so start with a minimal dose (the tip of a spoon) and increase it over several days to the optimal dose, which will ensure normal bowel frequency and consistency, and a healthy appetite. For severe liver pathologies, chronic enterocolitis, and pancreatitis The dose should be brought to the optimal level over several weeks.
- It can be prescribed simultaneously with antibiotics, anthelmintic drugs and coccidiostatics and after their use in order to normalize digestion.
- In case of serious damage to the gastrointestinal mucosa, the duration of the course can vary from 2-3 months to lifelong use.
Contraindications and side effects
The product is natural and contains bacterial cultures found in the intestines of healthy cats, so it has no obvious side effects or contraindications. The only contraindication listed in the Lactobifadol instructions is individual sensitivity to the ingredients. In some cases, the following may occur:
- loose stools;
- increase/decrease in the number of visits to the toilet;
- increased gas formation in the intestines.

These phenomena are considered normal and, if they occur, disappear within 2-3 days after the start of treatment, when the cat’s body gets used to the probiotic.
Advantages and disadvantages
The advantages of Lactobifadol include:
- no age restrictions for use;
- possibility of use in combination with antibiotics;
- the absence of synthetic vitamins and minerals in the composition, which allows us to exclude unwanted reactions when taking with any type of food;
- the absence of a strong taste, which allows the probiotic to be “masked” by cat food.
A minor drawback is the somewhat inconvenient storage packaging, which consists of a bag without any fastenings. However, this can easily be remedied by pouring the powder into a small container with a lid.
Owner reviews
Marina, owner of a 2-month-old kitten:
"We took a month-old kitten home from the street. He was very weak and skinny; for several days he could only eat milk, so I added Lactobifadol powder to that. After just one serving, he started eating pâté, and within a couple of days, his appetite had fully recovered. I can confidently recommend him even to the smallest pets; he really stimulates digestion and appetite!"
Yuri, owner of a 4-year-old cat:
"After a course of antibiotics, my cat developed diarrhea, and the veterinary pharmacy recommended Lactobifadol. We initially tried adding it to his food, but for some reason he refused to eat it, so we had to give it diluted in water. The effect was noticeable after the first day of treatment, and after five days, his stool had completely returned to normal. After the course, his coat condition also noticeably improved."

Vladimir, a veterinarian at a private clinic:
"Over the course of 10 years working at a veterinary clinic, I've often prescribed Lactobifadol to cats. For some, it's for preventative care and health maintenance, for others, it's after surgeries. I also recommend it for loose stools in cats. After a course of treatment, positive results are always visible: improved appetite, strengthened immunity, and improved overall condition and coat appearance."
Ekaterina, a veterinarian with 5 years of experience:
