A kitten named Phoenix

A phoenix is a mythical creature known for rising from the ashes. Isn't that the most fitting name for this kitten who returned from the dead?!

In February, the Wisłow animal shelter took in a mother cat and her six kittens, just a few days old. They were accompanied by two other pregnant cats. The animals were surrendered to the shelter after their owner passed away, and staff sent them directly to the isolation ward.

All was well until one morning, when one of the kittens was found on the floor, away from the rest of the litter and its mother, with no sign of a heartbeat.

Baby Phoenix

The kitten was already wrapped in a blanket, and the other cats had been fed. Then Sue Doyle, the cattery's manager, felt it was somehow wrong to take the little one away without letting his mother say goodbye. Phoenix, as the kitten had been named, was in his mother's arms, licking and petting him—when Sue noticed the slightest movement from the kitten. In shock, she called Jenny Canavan, the shelter coordinator, to check on him.

They massaged the kitten, warming it up and giving it a few drops of water. Over the next few hours, the kitten responded and slowly began to recover. The tiny kitten then spent most of the morning on the chest of its rescuer, Sue, so she could keep it warm and the baby could listen to the soothing sound of its heartbeat.

Once Phoenix was strong enough, Sue placed the resurrected baby back with his mother, who happily accepted him back and began feeding him immediately.

Since then, the kitten has been called Phoenix, as he's traveled a path no one would wish upon themselves. He rose from the dead, and now he's as healthy as his siblings (named Pegasus, Harpy, Medusa, Mormo, and Nessus), and according to the staff, this little one is quite the boss!

Phoenix and her siblings are now available for adoption. All are healthy and ready to be adopted into loving homes.
