Nero Gold dog food

Nero Gold is a Dutch brand of dog food for dogs with varying activity levels. These complete, balanced diets have been produced in Estonia for over ten years by Nero Products. The food meets European Union quality standards and enjoys steady demand, as it is considered one of the most affordable in the super-premium category.

Nero Gold dog food

Compound

The protein source in Nero Gold foods is meat (animal proteins are healthier for dogs and more digestible than plant proteins). The protein content is at least 25%, and each diet specifies the type of meat used, including chicken, turkey, sheep, or venison. Beef and pork are not used.

Carbohydrate sources include rice, barley, and maize (sweet corn). Lipids are represented by animal fats, accounting for approximately 10%.

Nero food also contains additional ingredients necessary for the dog’s body:

  • vitamins A, D, E, C;
  • sulfates of iron, cobalt, manganese, copper, zinc;
  • calcium iodide;
  • yeast (source of vitamins and prebiotics);
  • chondroitin and glucosamine, necessary for the construction and regeneration of cartilage tissue;
  • amino acids L-carnitine and taurine, contained in intracellular depots of muscle tissue.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantage of this food is, of course, its excellent price-quality ratio. Other advantages of Nero Gold include:

  • the main supplier of protein in croquettes and canned food is meat;
  • contains all the necessary beneficial additives;
  • The bottom of the croquette packaging is painted and has a transparent window that allows you to visually assess the contents;
  • the availability of a range of foods that take into account differences in age, activity level, tendency to excess weight or allergies.

Customers note only two drawbacks to the brand. The first concerns the ingredients—the percentage of meat is not always indicated. The second, less significant, drawback is that Nero Gold food is not available in every pet store.

Reviews

Anatoly Markovich, veterinarian:

"Nero Gold" is marketed by the manufacturer as a super-premium food, although, in my opinion, its composition doesn't quite fit that category. The lineup of these Dutch foods is quite wide, and is tailored to suit different age and weight categories, which is another advantage. Considering that reviews of Nero Gold are mostly positive, and Nero Gold rarely causes allergies (it doesn't contain wheat, a major allergen), I can recommend it as a good option for dog food."

Anastasia, Perm:

"My miniature schnauzer, Dusty, has been eating Nero Gold chicken and rice kibble for three months now. We initially tried the lamb and rice kibble; it's lower in calories, and our dog isn't particularly active, but the lamb kibble somehow caused gas. The chicken kibble went down well. I tried the kibble myself—you can really taste the meat. The kibble is quite hard and crunchy, and he loves it. He hasn't had any issues with his stool or coat; in fact, his coat has become shiny. It's just a shame this brand isn't widely available here, so for now, we have to order the food online."

Elena and Vladimir, Moscow:

We switched our dachshund Mila to Nero Gold due to rising food prices. We chose this brand for its price/quality ratio. Judging by the reviews we read on dog forums, it's good quality and quite affordable. We've been feeding Mila Mini Chicken & Rice kibble for over a month now. She eats them with gusto. The kibble smells good, doesn't crumble, and has no foreign matter. It's convenient that the nutritional information is listed on the front of the package.
