Profine dog food
Profine dog food is relatively new to the Russian market, with virtually no information available online and little information from store salespeople. We reviewed the food, covering its selection, ingredients, pricing, and, of course, reviews from dog owners and veterinarians.
This brand of food is produced by the Czech company Vafo Praha sro Profine Pet Products, which has grown from a small family business into a reputable industry player in 20 years. Today, they are recognized in over 50 countries worldwide and produce approximately 60 tons of food annually. The quality of Profine dog food is confirmed by various awards and certificates.
But, unfortunately, the company does not have a website on the Russian Internet, which overall does not speak in favor of the brand.
Content
Assortment of feed
The manufacturer strives to please even the most discerning customers and produces canned dog food (in 5 flavors) and dry food under the Profine brand—a product that dog owners often express their appreciation for. The dry food line consists of 11 varieties, tailored to the size of the breed, age group, and specific nutritional needs of pets.

The standard Profine dog food line is based on chicken and potatoes, with the exception of the Senior diet for older animals, where chicken is replaced with turkey.
Special The series consists of five diets, four of which are hypoallergenic, and their formulas are based on lamb or salmon. Another diet, Profine Energy, is designed specifically for pets with increased physical activity and has a higher protein and fat content. This menu is recommended for hunting dogs, service dogs, and kennel-bound dogs during the cold season.
Although Profine's food selection isn't as diverse as that of many established brands, we believe the entire line is functional and offers all the essentials. The manufacturer also offers Profine canned dog food, which has received mostly positive reviews. We consider this a plus for the brand.
Evaluation of feed composition
This line of food belongs to the super-premium pet food segment. The manufacturer claims that the goal of the Profine brand is to produce dog food containing only natural and wholesome ingredients, embodying the latest scientific research and development. Therefore, Profine created its own "low-grain formula" and eliminated grains such as wheat and barley from the diet. Instead, Profine dog food includes whole potatoes, tomatoes, and corn, which are considered more accessible and less allergenic sources of energy.
Let's take a closer look at the ingredients in Profine Chicken & Potatoes, a dog food for adult dogs. Guaranteed nutrient content:
| Crude protein | 26% | Normal |
| Crude fat | 16% | A bit overstated |
| Crude fiber | 2.5% | Below normal |
| Humidity | 10% | Normal indicator |
| Ash | 6.5% | Within acceptable limits |
Looking at the food package, your eye stops at the phrase: "60% chicken and vegetables." Let's try to determine whether this is a clever marketing ploy or the truth.
To evaluate this diet, it is enough to look at its main components:
- chicken meat;
- chicken liver;
- potato;
- corn;
- chicken fat.
It's worth noting that the exact contents of all ingredients are unknown, as the manufacturer, intentionally or not, did not provide this information on the official website. In our opinion, Profine is a dog food whose composition remains questionable.
Squirrels
Chicken meat and liver are used as a source of animal protein in this food. Chicken protein is highly digestible and highly valuable, providing a truly high-quality nutritional ingredient. Furthermore, the chicken meat is free of connective tissue and skin to minimize the risk of protein allergies.
Carbohydrates
Potato and corn are listed third and fourth on the ingredient list. They serve as carbohydrates in this recipe. Corn is certainly a good source of carbohydrates, but it is a high-glycemic carbohydrate, which is undesirable in dog food. It is used as a cheap filler, and many pet food brands strive to eliminate it from their products.
Fats
In addition to chicken fat, the ingredient list also includes salmon oil. Both of these ingredients are considered optimal sources of omega fatty acids, which are essential for the body. Furthermore, they are easily digestible by dogs, unlike vegetable fats.
Additional components
The remaining ingredients in Profine dog food, whose composition we're analyzing, don't play a significant role, as their quantities are small. Let's highlight a few:
- Dried beet pulp is a source of fiber and helps maintain gastrointestinal health;
- Dried apples contain carbohydrates, fiber, pectin, antioxidants, and vitamins. They aid digestion and have a general strengthening effect on the body.
- Tomatoes are a source of fiber and vitamin C. They improve digestion and have a beneficial effect on the genitourinary system.
Advantages and disadvantages
Positive aspects
- Convenient functional ruler;
- A quality source of protein;
- No wheat or barley;
- The presence of vegetables and fruits, a complex of vitamin supplements, and probiotics.
Product flaws
- A significant disadvantage of the Profine brand is the lack of information available to the buyer about the ingredients of the feed, or more precisely, their percentage content, which causes some distrust of the products of this brand;
- Contains corn (a carbohydrate with a high glycemic load).
Reviews of food
A comprehensive picture of pet nutrition quality should also include the opinions of owners who have tried this brand's diets. After analyzing the available information on dog forums, we offer reviews of Profine dog food:
Yuri, the beagle's owner"I bought my puppy from a kennel, and the breeders gave him Puppy food from this brand. I fed him that all the time, then switched to adult formula. Some dog owners I know suggested alternating flavors, so I fed him chicken for about three months, then switched to lamb or salmon. My dog's coat is shiny and he's in great condition, so I haven't even considered changing his diet."
Tonya, Sherry's Russian Spaniel"I recently switched my dog to Profine Energy because my husband is an avid hunter, and so is Sherry. I've been feeding it for about a month, but the stool smell is a bit concerning. Previously, when switching food, I'd had digestive issues, and some brands would cause dandruff. So far, so good on this diet, but I'll keep an eye on it."

Overall, reviews of Profine for dogs vary widely, with almost no 5+ ratings. The general consensus is, "It seems good, but..."—there's always some "but" for every owner.
The point of view of veterinarians
Veterinarians' reviews of Profine dog food generally agree that it's a high-quality, super-premium food that generally meets all its stated properties and accurately represents the class in which it's positioned. However, experts point out that the fiber level in the food is somewhat lower than generally accepted standards, which may, in some cases, negatively impact your pet's digestion.
