Composition of dry food
For a detailed review, we took the Brit Care dog food that has the most reviews compared to the others – food for adult pets of small breeds (Brit Care Adult Small Breed).
None of the super premium diets should contain chemical additives such as colorings, preservatives, or flavorings. Low-quality by-products, sometimes disguised as "poultry" or "meat," are also excluded. Our analysis revealed no such components.
The nutritional content is as follows: 28% crude protein, 17% fat, 2.5% crude fiber, 10% moisture, 7.2% ash. So far, this diet appears well-balanced, with the only criticism being the low fiber content.
Here is a list of the first five ingredients:
- Lamb meal – 40%;
- Rice – 36%;
- Chicken fat;
- Dried apple;
- Salmon fish oil – 2%.
Squirrels
Lamb meal ranks first, at 40%. It's worth noting that this is a fairly listed ingredient, meaning the manufacturer isn't trying to embellish their product.
Lamb meal is one of the best sources of protein, it is considered an easily digestible and hypoallergenic protein.
After drying and grinding the meat, the resulting product has a protein content three times higher than fresh meat.
Carbohydrates
Rice is the carbohydrate source in Brit Care dog food for small dogs. This grain product is considered the least allergenic of all grains. Furthermore, white rice (refined whole grain) contains high-quality carbohydrates, as well as plant protein and fiber. Its benefits include its ability to promote stool firmness and lower cholesterol levels.
Fats
Chicken fat ranks third on the list of ingredients. It's a very beneficial and important component in animal nutrition. It promotes healthy skin and coat and contains a high amount of linoleic acid. Additionally, the formula contains salmon oil, which is rich in omega acids, which are extremely beneficial for pets' health. Although it only makes up 2% of the diet, it's still a key ingredient in Brit Care dog food.
Additional ingredients
Some people may be wary of adding dried apples to their dog's diet, but they are an excellent source of fiber, soluble carbohydrates, pectin, and vitamins. Apples are rich in potassium, boron, and beta-carotene.
It also contains natural chondroitin and glucosamine, in the form of cartilage and crustacean shell extract. A wide range of herbs and fruits are included, including yucca, rosemary, milk thistle, citrus, and cloves.
A rather exotic ingredient in Brit Care dog food is turmeric. It's worth noting that it has antibacterial properties and is a powerful antioxidant.
