Animonda cat food

Animonda cat food is a German product that, thanks to its consistent quality and excellent composition, has long been a top choice among Russian breeders. Cat owners particularly appreciate the composition of the food—natural ingredients and balanced nutritional proportions, selected with German meticulousness. A detailed analysis of the menu and components of this food will reveal whether this is truly the case.

Manufacturer

Animonda Petcare GMBH was founded relatively recently, in 1991. In just over 20 years, the company has become one of the leaders in the German pet food market and expanded its distribution to 35 countries worldwide.

The production facility's location in Westphalia allows for the freshest and highest-quality raw materials, while a German quality control system guarantees the highest product quality. In addition to state-of-the-art production, the company has a formula development department. This department takes into account everything from the animal's activity level, age, special needs, and breed characteristics, ensuring that every pet receives nutrition that is tailored to their needs. Furthermore, according to the manufacturer, the food is free of chemical dyes, flavorings, and flavor enhancers.

Assortment

It's easy to get lost in the wide variety of Animonda diets – 12 types of dry food and over 90 (!) wet options. All of them are available under four different brands:

  • Wom Feinsten contains the finest meats for complete cat nutrition. The line includes seven dry food varieties (one for kittens, one for senior pets, and five for adults), as well as 37 wet diets. Wet food is available as pâtés or chunks in 100g bowls, as well as in small 50g pouches. As with dry food, there are age-specific categories.
  • Carny is a complete menu made from meat and fish. It's divided into three groups: Fleisch Menue (meat-based diets), Ocean (fish delicacies), and Exotic (exotic meats such as buffalo, ostrich, and kangaroo). This brand offers 35 flavors, available in pouches, bowls, and cans. As with the previous food, there are age-specific categories.
  • Rafine – carefully selected menus for the most discerning pets. Available as dry croquettes (5 flavors) and tender pieces in a fragrant sauce (21 flavors).
  • Integra Protect is a brand of veterinary diets designed to treat illnesses and support the body during difficult times. It includes 27 varieties, each with a different flavor and intended use. Various packaging options are also available: 100g bowls, pouches, and 200g tins.

Information about the product range was taken from the official manufacturer's German website; however, the full list of foods produced by Animonda may not be available in our country.

To determine the true quality of a given food, it's necessary to carefully examine the diet's ingredients. For a complete picture, it's best to choose two types of food—dry and wet.

Compound

The best "test sample" for a wet diet is Animonda Carney Meat Cocktail—canned cat food with a mix of different meats. Judging by reviews, this is a popular product that is readily available in our country. Here's the composition of the diet:

  • Beef – 30% (meat, lungs, heart, udder, kidneys);
  • Chicken – 29% (meat, liver, necks, stomach);
  • Game – 6% (meat);
  • Calcium carbonate.

The package also states that vitamin D-3 (200 IU per 1 kg) and vitamin E (tocopherol) at 30 mg per 1 kg of product are added as additives. Additional information states that the food is completely grain- and soy-free and rich in natural taurine. The guaranteed nutrient content is as follows:

  • Protein – 11.5%;
  • Fat – 5%;
  • Fiber – 0.5%;
  • Ash content – 1.4%;
  • Humidity – 79%.

These are very good indicators for a food of this class. Furthermore, the composition is free of any artificial or chemical additives. All the listed meat components are very beneficial for cats and are almost completely digestible.

Another important point: this type of wet food is very beneficial for your pet's health. Cats drink little, meaning their bodies are constantly dehydrated. Ready-to-eat wet meals solve this problem—with a formula that closely mimics a cat's natural diet, this food promotes good health.

Taurine content is also important—animals don't produce this amino acid, which is vital for cats. Therefore, it must be supplied through food, and Animonda does an excellent job of this.

For comparison, consider the dry food – Vom Feinsten Deluxe Adult. This menu is based on chicken meat and consists of the following components:

  • Poultry meal;
  • Rice;
  • Corn;
  • Poultry fat;
  • Corn gluten.

Based on these five components, we can judge the food's base. Further down the list are the following nutrients: beef fat, fish oil, and chicken liver. Then comes the content of beet pulp, dehydrated poultry protein, yeast, and whole chicken eggs. The list of ingredients concludes with oat fiber, calcium carbonate, sodium chloride, chicory, and yucca schidigera.

Vom Feinsten Deluxe Adult

Guaranteed nutrient content is:

  • Protein – 30%;
  • Fat – 18%;
  • Ash content – 6%;
  • Fiber – 2.1%;
  • Moisture – 8%.

The composition, as well as the guaranteed analysis results, are quite good. They fully comply with generally accepted standards for premium nutrition and can compete on equal terms with other pet food market participants.

Squirrels

The main source of protein is chicken meal. This highly valuable product, derived from meat, is completely digestible by the animal.

Dehydrated poultry protein is a product of deep processing of the carcass and does not contain anything useful except protein.

Whole chicken eggs are a real treasure trove of vitamins and microelements, as well as a valuable source of protein for cats.

Another source of plant protein is cereal grains, but this component is practically useless - it is not digested by cats.

Fats

Poultry, beef, and fish fats were used as lipid sources. While poultry and fish fats are high-quality sources of fatty acids and lipids, beef fat is questionable—it's not a very healthy ingredient, often produced from low-quality raw materials. Furthermore, this fat contains virtually no nutritional value.

Carbohydrates

The carbohydrate content in this sample is quite high: it includes both rice and corn. Judging by the order of these nutrients in the list, it's clear that the food contains a significant amount of grains, which isn't a good sign.

Additional ingredients

  • Chicken liver is a high-quality natural flavoring. It is used in pet foods where the manufacturer does not want to add artificial flavors.
  • Beet pulp, like oat fiber, is a source of fiber, which helps normalize digestion. Yeast also helps normalize intestinal microflora and promote healthy digestion. Yeast is also rich in B vitamins, which are beneficial for your pet's coat and skin.
  • Calcium carbonate is a source of calcium, which also reduces the acidity of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
  • Sodium chloride is common table salt.
  • Chicory is a source of inulin, a natural prebiotic that normalizes intestinal microflora. This improves peristalsis and normalizes digestion.
  • Yucca schidigera is an additive designed to reduce the odor of excrement.

After analyzing the ingredients, we can say that Animonda food, both dry and wet, is quite good and can serve as the basis of a diet for both apartment-dwelling and outdoor cats.

Reviews

Ilya, the cat breeder:

"I got a cat by accident—I picked her up on the street as a kitten, and I really felt sorry for her. Later, when she grew up, I had to decide on food—I didn't want to cook porridge for her. I searched online and read specialized forums and found reviews of Animonda cat food. Everyone was saying pretty much the same thing—German quality, good ingredients, and so on. I decided to try a pouch of wet food, and my kitty ate it all and asked for more! I've decided to keep her on this food, and so far I see no reason to switch to alternative nutrition."

Alevtina Sergeevna, owner of the cat Kubik:

"My Kubik is an aristocrat—he turns up his nose at any food, and getting him to eat anything is a real challenge. A friend recommended Animonda canned food for picky cats—she said the reviews were good, and my gourmet cat would love it. So, I bought a trial portion, and my cat, after some hesitation, ate his evening portion. The next morning, he was more willing to eat, so I decided to stick with this diet. Now Kubik eats regularly, doesn't fuss, and looks like a well-groomed and healthy cat—100%!"

Veterinarian Reviews

Natalia Aleksandrovna Sokolova, veterinary clinic doctor:

«Recently, my colleagues and I were talking about wet food—what's worth taking a closer look at? I heard a lot of new opinions about the German cat food Animonda, although I'd never really paid much attention to it before. All the reviews from my veterinarian friends pointed to the same thing: it's a high-quality product that's suitable for almost all animals, regardless of breed or other characteristics. After delving deeper into the matter, I sifted through a wealth of information and can say that the ingredients, for a premium food, are truly good—nothing will harm your pet's health. I can recommend these diets as a staple for cats."
