Inspector drops for dogs

For the prevention and treatment of parasite infestation in dogs, the following are often used: drops "Inspector Total S" is a broad-spectrum product that effectively combats both internal (worms, nematodes) and external parasites (fleas, ticks, lice). It is intended for external use.

Composition and pharmacological action

The main advantage of this medication is its versatility – it is effective against 14 types of parasites (not only ectoparasites but also helminths). It is produced by the domestic manufacturer Ecoprom. The clear liquid with a subtle odor of alcohol is packaged in polymer pipettes of various sizes. This makes treatment quite simple.

The high efficiency and action of the drug is due to two active substances that are included in the composition:

  1. Fipronil is an insecticidal acaricide that blocks insect receptors. The disruption of nerve impulse transmission and nervous system dysfunction results in the death of the arthropods.
  2. Moxidectin - when it binds to insect receptors, it causes muscle dysfunction, paralysis, and ultimately death.

A unique feature of fipronil is that it is not absorbed into the bloodstream. The active ingredient accumulates on the skin surface and in the fur and begins to act upon direct contact with parasitic insects. Moxidentine enters the bloodstream, and through it, into all organs and systems. It remains in the body for an extended period, after which it is excreted unchanged in the feces.

Indications for use

The instructions state that Inspector drops have a broad spectrum of action and can therefore be used in dogs to treat and prevent infestations with internal and external parasites. The drug is prescribed for prophylaxis and in the presence of the following conditions:

  • entomoses caused by fleas, lice and biting lice;
  • demodicosis;
  • sarcoptosis;
  • otodectosis;
  • intestinal nematodoses;
  • tick infestation;
  • helminth infestation.

Types of parasites that threaten dogs and cats

The medication can also be used in mosquito-infested areas to prevent dirofilariasis. Inspector is ineffective against adult mosquitoes, but it significantly reduces their activity.

Instructions for use

The dosage depends on the animal's weight. According to the instructions, "Inspector" should be used for dogs in the following doses:

  1. For the smallest pets, whose weight varies from 1 to 4 kg, 0.4 ml of the drug is required.
  2. For larger animals (weighing from 4 to 10 kg), you need to take 1 ml of "Inspector".
  3. If the dog's weight is between 10 and 25 kg, 2.5 ml of the drug will be required.

  5. For large dogs weighing over 40 kg, the dose should be calculated based on 0.1 ml of medication per kilogram of weight.

The medication is sold in pipettes of appropriate volume. The packaging usually indicates the appropriate weight for dogs, making the selection much easier. Large dogs will require several pipettes, so be sure to calculate the correct dosage.

Preventive measures and treatment of fleas

If "Inspector" is used for dogs to prevent flea, tick, or other parasite infestations, the medication is administered as a single application. Repeat the treatment every 4-6 weeks throughout the entire period of ectoparasite activity, from spring to fall.

Animals should be treated at least 24 hours before they are expected to be in areas where there is a risk of infection. This could include a walk in a park or garden, a trip to the countryside, or a temporary stay at a dacha, etc.

If a dog is infested with fleas, lice or chewing lice, treatment should be carried out once and repeated after a month.

Treatment of otodectosis

If you are infected with ear mites, you must do the following:

  • Clean the external auditory canal before instillation.
  • Place 3-5 drops of the product in each ear, depending on the animal's weight. Both ears should be treated, even if only one is infected.
  • Carefully fold the ear and massage slightly so that the preparation is evenly distributed throughout the entire auricle.

The dog's ears are massaged

  • The remaining preparation is applied to the withers.
  • The medication should be reapplied after 7-10 days, repeating the treatment 2-3 times. In some cases, if the infestation is severe, a repeat course may be necessary, but only after testing and a doctor's examination.
  • If the infection is accompanied by otitis, then it is additionally necessary to take antibiotics.

If the eardrum is perforated, the medication should not be used. In this case, it is recommended to apply the medication to the base of the neck.

Destruction of ixodid ticks

Reviews from dog owners confirm that Inspector drops are effective in getting rid of ixodid ticks. If you notice a bloodsucker attached to your pet, apply one drop of the product to it. If there are multiple ticks, treat each individual tick individually. The tick will fall off on its own within 20 minutes. Otherwise, use tweezers to carefully remove it.

Treatment of sarcoptic mange and demodicosis

If the medication is used to treat demodicosis or sarcoptosis, it is applied in a thin layer to the affected areas of skin. The skin should be cleansed beforehand. It is important to adhere to the dosages indicated above. If the infection is widespread, repeat the treatment every other day.

The procedure should be performed 2-3 times, with intervals of 7-10 days. The animal should not be allowed to lick the medication. To prevent this, a muzzle or collar should be used. Remove the collar after 20-30 minutes. Clinical studies should be conducted after the course of treatment.

Deworming and prevention of dirofilariasis

If helminths or intestinal nematodes are detected, or for prevention, a one-time treatment is performed and repeated after a month. The product should be applied externally, as with other parasites.

Owner reviews

Alexander, the pug's owner:

"Our pug was repeatedly infected with worms. Treatment was a real pain, since the antiparasitic pills had to be taken in the morning on an empty stomach. Vomiting and weakness were frequent. The veterinarian recommended using Inspector as a preventative measure. After we started taking preventative measures, we forgot about the parasites. We've already had two tests, but the results are negative. I'm happy with its effectiveness, so I recommend it to others."

Ekaterina, the owner of the Spitz:

"We live in a private house, so parasite prevention is very important. We used to always use German drops, but one day they were out of stock. We bought Inspector. Even though it's cheaper, it works perfectly. In two years of use, we only found one tick, but it fell off very easily, so I can confidently say it works."

Veterinarian Reviews

Lidiya Ivanovna, a veterinarian with 30 years of experience:

"Inspector is a new drug, so I don't trust it very much. I choose proven medications, for example, Advocate“My colleagues and I speak positively about the drops.”

Julia, veterinarian:

"I always prescribe Inspector drops to my furry patients. It's a new product, but it really works against all the parasites listed in the instructions. And although the price is reasonable, the product is effective. At least my clients haven't complained."
