Composition and release form
Drops "Bars" are used to combat ticks, fleas, lice and other types ectoparasites in dogsThe medication is produced by the domestic manufacturer Agrovetzashita as a light-yellow or yellow oily liquid. It is packaged in small polymer dropper pipes of varying sizes, making it very convenient to use. According to the instructions, Bars tick drops for dogs are for external use only.

The drug contains three main active ingredients:
- Fipronil blocks the nervous system of parasites, which leads to their death in a relatively short period of time, preventing their spread to other parts of the body.
- Diflubenzuron disrupts the process of egg laying and hatching of larvae from eggs, which prevents the reproduction of fleas, ticks and other blood-sucking insects.
- Dicarboximide enhances the effects of fipronil and diflubenzuron and increases the toxicity of the drug, making it lethal to parasites.
The composition also includes auxiliary substances.
Another form of the drug is also available: Bars Forte drops. The main difference with Bars Forte is that, in addition to the main active ingredients, it also contains citronella essential oil. Due to its lower concentration and gentler action, this form is recommended for puppies, although it can also be used on adults.
Operating principle
Bars for dogs is effective against ticks and other ectoparasites when used at the recommended dose. Its active ingredients target the parasites' central nervous system and other vital organs, resulting in their death. A unique feature of this medication is that it targets not only adult ticks but also larvae. This ensures high efficacy and reliable protection against all types of ectoparasites.

After application, the active ingredients are distributed over the skin over time (on average, within 24 hours). They are not absorbed into the bloodstream, so they pose no risk to internal organs, but they accumulate in the hair and sebaceous glands. Upon contact with parasites, they have a detrimental effect, providing protection for up to 30 days.
Indications and contraindications
This product is used to prevent ectoparasite infestations, including fleas, lice, chewing lice, ear mites, ticks, and other types of mites. Bars drops for dogs against ticks and other parasites can also be used after an infestation for quick and effective treatment.
Due to its toxicity, the drug is classified as moderately hazardous, so it has a number of contraindications. It should not be used on the following animals:
- Puppies up to 8 weeks of age.
- Dogs weighing no more than 2 kilograms (except for Bars Forte).
- Pregnant and lactating bitches.
- Weak pets that have suffered serious illnesses and have weak immunity.
- If there is an individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Furthermore, "Bars" should not be used on damaged skin. It should also not be used during infectious diseases or exacerbations of chronic illnesses. The drug is also prohibited for use on food-producing animals.
Rules of application
According to the instructions, Bars drops for dogs should be applied once to dry, intact skin. Apply the drops along the spine, between the shoulder blades, and at the base of the skull. Part the fur to ensure the drops reach the skin. Repeat the application as needed, but not earlier than every month.
The dosage of the drug depends on the dog’s weight:
- For dogs weighing from 2 to 10 kg, 1.4 ml of the drug is required.
- For animals weighing from 10 to 20 kg, 2.8 ml of medicine will be required.
- If your pet's weight is between 20 and 30 kg, you need to take 4.2 ml of "Bars".
- For dogs weighing over 30 kg, 5-10 ml of the drug is required.
Please note that the most common pipette volume is 1.4 ml, but other sizes are also available. Calculate the number of pipettes correctly based on their volume.

Bars Forte drops differ in the concentration of active ingredients, so the dosage is calculated differently:
- For puppies up to 1 kg, only 0.18 ml of the drug (4 drops) will be required.
- For dogs weighing from 1 to 5 kg, 1.0 ml of medicine is needed.
- For animals weighing between 5 and 10 kg, 1.8 ml of the drug is required.
- For pets weighing from 10 to 20 kg, 3.6 ml of drops will be required.
- For dogs in the weight category from 20 to 30 kg, 5.4 ml of the drug is needed.
- For animals weighing over 30 kg, the dosage must be calculated using the following formula: 0.18 ml of the drug per 1 kg of live weight.
To kill attached ticks, apply one drop of the product to the insect and wait 30 minutes. The parasites usually fall off on their own within this time. If this doesn't happen, carefully remove them with tweezers.
If you are infected with ear mites, you should do the following:
- Clean your dog's ears of wax and scabs.
- Place 3-5 drops into each ear, depending on the weight and size of the animal.
- Carefully fold the ear and massage gently to ensure the medicine is evenly distributed over the entire surface.

If the infection is accompanied by otitis, antibiotics should be taken concomitantly as prescribed by a doctor. Even if the mite has appeared in one ear, both ears should be treated to prevent re-infestation and complications.
Before using Bars tick drops for dogs, carefully read the instructions.

Reviews
Snezhana:
"I've been using Bars drops on my pet for a long time. I treat him once a month. I also use the spray once a week before walks. The product doesn't cause irritation. He doesn't try to lick it off. Despite its affordability, the product is effective. At least we've never had any fleas or ticks."
Marina:
"We used to always use Bars to protect our shepherd from ticks and other parasites. One day, we bought an expensive German product, and literally a week later, the dog got fleas. We couldn't get rid of them for a long time. The vet recommended Bars, saying that imported products weren't concentrated enough and therefore less effective."

Can a human do the same? Some people use "Bars" as a way to destroy things on their heads.

Hello! Why bother, if there are plenty of good medications in the human pharmacy? Besides, how will you choose the dosage? The medications there are based on the animal's body weight. I'm not a human doctor, so I can't say whether this active ingredient is contraindicated for humans. But it's not for nothing that the instructions on such products state that precautions should be taken when handling the medication and that it should be thoroughly washed off the skin if it comes into contact with it.
