Indications for use
Canteren has a complex effect on the urinary system of dogs, so it is used to treat the following diseases:
- cystitis;
- urethritis;
- kidney diseases of various origins.
The medication is also suitable for the treatment of urolithiasis. In this case, it is always combined with other medications to achieve the greatest therapeutic effect.

Cantharen can also be used to prevent urogenital diseases in animals. It is especially useful in animals with a high risk of recurrence. For example, the drug can be used to prevent the formation of new kidney or bladder stones. If an animal is at risk, periodic treatment courses may be necessary, but these should not be prescribed by a veterinarian.
How to apply?
According to the instructions, regardless of the dosage form, Cantharen is given to dogs according to the following dosage regimens:
- If the medication is used for disease prevention, it is administered once daily. Treatment duration is usually two weeks. Courses should be repeated several times a year. The number of courses depends on the risk of developing the disease and the animal's overall health.
- If the disease is acute, the medication is administered 1-2 times daily, depending on the severity of symptoms. Treatment duration is 5 to 10 days, as determined by a veterinarian.
- Chronic conditions usually require long-term treatment. The medication is taken 2-3 times a week rather than daily. The course should not exceed 30 days.
The dosage regimen may be adjusted by a veterinarian based on various factors, including symptoms, complications, overall health, and clinical trial results. When long-term use of Cantharen for dogs is required, tablets or drops are generally preferred, while injections are used for acute conditions.

Injections of homeopathic medicine are given intramuscularly Or subcutaneously. Tablets and drops are administered orally. To make this procedure less traumatic for the animal, the medication is usually mixed into the food. If this method doesn't work (the pet senses the medication and refuses to eat), then the medication will have to be administered forcefully.
The therapeutic dose of Cantaren is calculated based on weight:
- injection solution – 0.1 ml per kilogram of weight;
- drops – 1 drop per 1 kg;
- tablets - 1 tablet per 10 kg of weight.
It's important to strictly adhere to the treatment regimen prescribed by your doctor. Any missed or untimely use may negatively impact the effectiveness of the medication.
Please note! Cantharen can be used in combination with other medications. It is often used as an adjunct treatment.
When should you not use it?
Since the drug is naturally derived, it is considered safe for use. The instructions for Cantharen state that it should not be used on animals, including dogs, if there is an individual intolerance. This carries a high risk of allergic reactions. Using tablets or drops may cause digestive problems.

This homeopathic remedy has no other contraindications. It is approved for use in pets of all breeds and ages, including senior dogs and puppies. It is also suitable for pregnant and lactating females, although a doctor's consultation is necessary. It does not cause any side effects, with the exception of allergic reactions due to intolerance.
Owner reviews
Valentina, the owner of a chow chow:
"My dog's heat cycle was prolonged, so I attributed the bloody discharge after going to the bathroom to that. Then I noticed Snezhka was trying to go to the bathroom in short intervals, but only a few drops came out. Then, again, there was blood periodically. We went to the clinic and discovered cystitis. The doctor initially prescribed Cantaren injections, but I don't know how to administer injections, so she recommended replacing them with tablets. The results of the treatment were noticeable after just a couple of days, but we continued the treatment until the end (10 days)."
Leonid, owner of a toy terrier:
"The dog was diagnosed with urolithiasis. Among other medications, they prescribed Cantharen. At first, we had injections, now we're taking drops and tablets. I'm not sure what was more effective—the combination treatment or the homeopathic remedy—but the dog recovered. We now take the medication in courses for prevention two to three times a year."
Veterinarian Reviews
Maria Mikhailovna, a veterinarian with 18 years of experience:
"I used to be wary of homeopathy, preferring traditional medicines, but after one incident, I changed my mind. A desperate woman managed to save her cat from urolithiasis. Now I also use homeopathic remedies, particularly Cantharen. True, I only prescribe it as part of a comprehensive treatment, but the main thing is the results!"
Andrey, a veterinarian with 12 years of experience:
"Cantaren and other similar products are a scam. Water can't heal. The plant and mineral content is so microscopic that it can't have any effect on the body. The only advantage is that such a product will definitely not cause any harm."

Andrey, "experienced veterinarian"!!! Don't talk nonsense! Homeopathy works wonders for both people and animals. I don't know how much "experience" you have, but I've been working with homeopathy for 26 years. And I've even saved dying animals who were prescribed medications completely unrelated to the disease by specialists like you. Cantharen, Liarsin, Traumatin, Chondartron... I could list more... They work wonderfully, have no side effects, and cause no harm!
