How to draw a dog outline

What do children draw most often? Pets, of course. Many love dogs and would like to draw their own pet. Incidentally, this applies not only to children but also to adults. If you don't have good artistic skills, try drawing an outline of a dog. The drawing is done. step by step: with each step new details are added.

St. Bernard

We suggest you first draw the outline St. BernardThis is a very large, yet good-natured and lovable dog. This breed is used as a rescue dog in mountain ranges where people get trapped in snowdrifts. If you can draw a St. Bernard, then by following our recommendations, you can also draw your own pet – a dog of any breed.

We'll be drawing with a pencil. It's best to fill the entire sheet of paper, as this will make it easier to draw fine details. Below is a description and step-by-step illustrations of the dog's outline.

  • Draw a diagonal line. In its center, draw a large circle, not necessarily perfectly straight. This will be the central part of the dog's body. Below it, draw a smaller circle – the hindquarters. Above the large circle, draw the smallest circle. This will be our St. Bernard's head.
  • Erase the diagonal line. At the bottom of the large circle, draw a small circle—the joint of the front paw. From there, draw a line downward, and at its end, draw another circle of approximately the same size. To the right, draw a line downward from the large circle, parallel to the previous one, and also end it with a circle. The outlines of the front paws are complete. A sitting St. Bernard will only have one visible hind paw. To outline it, draw an oval just below the circle, symbolizing the rear part of the body.
  • Draw a smaller circle around the head. This will be the muzzle. At this stage, it's important to maintain the proportions, as this will determine the dog's overall appearance.

  • Now connect all the circles with a common outline, drawing lines from the head, across the back, to the paws, and ending with the muzzle. If it doesn't work out the first time, don't worry—you can erase any rough lines and start over (so it's important not to make the lines too thick). Don't forget to draw the right eye.
  • Using the eraser, remove the guide lines from the drawing. The dog's outline is complete; all that's left is to add the details. Draw the left eye and, just below, the round nose. From there, draw a line down and outline the mouth. Connect these elements to form the dog's chin. Drawing the St. Bernard's ears and tail isn't particularly difficult.

Puppy

Drawing the outline of a puppy is more difficult because there are no supporting elements. But with some effort, you can draw the outline of a dog, large or small, without resorting to supporting shapes and lines. Here's how it's done.

  • Take a pencil and use soft, smooth strokes to draw the outlines of the nose, mouth, and eyes. Don't press too hard, as an irregular outline will be difficult to erase.
  • Draw arched lines from the nose – the spaniel puppy's muzzle. If necessary, carefully draw the tip of the nose, nostrils, mouth lines, and eyes.
  • From the nose, draw lines upward, outlining the sloping forehead and the side lines of the head. They smoothly transition into the drooping ears. Then, draw the contours of the muzzle with two arched lines.

  • From the junction of the two curved lines of the muzzle, draw a slightly convex outline downwards. This will be the puppy's chest. On the left side, draw the front paw.
  • Draw the hind legs of a sitting puppy in a semicircle. Since he's sitting sideways, only one paw will be visible. On the other side, starting from the ear, begin drawing the slightly rounded outline of the back and tail.

At this point, the puppy's outline can be considered complete, but to complete the image, it is advisable to draw the toes on the paws and also to design the muzzle in more detail.

If you want to continue working, you can draw strokes on the body to symbolize disheveled fur, or color the picture as you like.

Craft

2018 has arrived. According to the Chinese calendar, it's the Year of the Dog. That's why many kindergartens, schools, and art studios are making crafts depicting these animals. We suggest you make your own original cardboard dog. You'll need:

  • medium-weight colored cardboard to make it easy to cut out the details;
  • felt-tip pens;
  • an old, unwanted CD;
  • scissors;
  • glue for paper and cardboard.

The dog kennel for this craft is drawn as separate pieces of a fairly large size, comparable to the diameter of the disk. Therefore, the head, front and back legs, and tail are drawn separately. For the paws, it's best to use a folded piece of cardboard to ensure symmetrical pieces.

All elements must be cut out, glued to the CD and colored with markers.
