How to draw a raccoon
Raccoons are incredibly cute animals, and after watching these little creatures at the zoo or on video, children often want to draw them with a pencil or paint. In this article, we'll show you how to draw a raccoon quickly and easily, and offer several simple, step-by-step drawing instructions for both children and adults.
Before figuring out how to draw a realistic or cartoonish animal, it's worth taking another look at what it looks like in the wild.

Realistic little animal
Looking at the photograph makes you want to draw a realistic, fluffy creature, just like in nature. In this tutorial for kids, we offer a step-by-step guide to creating such a raccoon drawing yourself.
Without going into the basics of artistic composition, the entire process can be divided into the following stages:
- marking;
- detailing;
- coloring.
Let's begin the drawing by marking out the main elements. To do this, draw four ovals on a clean sheet of paper, then the locations of the back and paw lines.

Now let's add a line for the tail and mark the spot where the furry tops of the paws should transition into the miniature toes. Once all the markings are ready, you can draw the outline of the raccoon, tracing the ovals and lines as follows.

We don't need the extra ovals anymore; they can simply be erased. We'll leave just one – on the muzzle. It will help us correctly position the eyes, nose, and ears.

Hooray! Our drawn raccoon is almost ready, all that's left is to create the fur texture using strokes.

A raccoon in a tree
Another idea for those who want to quickly and easily draw an animal in its natural habitat.
As in the previous version, we begin drawing the picture with outlines - these will be our animal itself, the tree trunk and branch.

Now let's add details - fur, a nose and eyes to our raccoon, flowers on a branch, butterflies fluttering around.

The drawing can be left in pencil (this will result in a very modern version of graphics), or colored using crayons, pencils or paints.
The easiest way
To explain to your child how to draw a raccoon themselves using pencil or paint, we suggest choosing the simplest option. The result will be a beautiful drawing with the characteristic features of this cute animal – a recognizable face, a fluffy tail, and a distinctive coloring.

We'll draw the raccoon step by step, working on one element at a time. We'll start with the head—it's an oval shape with pointed edges.

Next, draw the body and the paws hidden behind the back, as in the picture.

In the second step, we'll add small ears and a fluffy tail. Raccoon ears, like kittens, are neat and pointed, and the tail is fluffy and voluminous.

Now let's draw the paws and belly. The hind legs of these funny little animals are small, covered with short fur, and have fairly long claws that are practically never worn down in the wild and help them climb trees quickly.

Now it's time for the eyes and nose. Now our raccoon in the picture looks even more like its wild cousins, as its face now has the characteristic "mask" stripes.

Next, we add stripes to the tail, a pattern on the muzzle, and a bib on the chest. Now our raccoon drawing is ready for coloring.

You can color the raccoon with a pencil or paint. For added realism, you can add some darker shades of hair, as in the first photo.

Little Raccoon from the cartoon
One of the most beloved children's characters from retro cartoons is Little Raccoon, who even children can draw.
We begin the drawing by outlining individual elements—the head, body, and legs. Next, we refine the image by adding ears, front paws, fur stripes, and eye contours.

Now it's clear that the drawing is of a little Raccoon, and all we need to do is add a few pencil touches—shape the character's eyes, eyebrows, and mouth. That's it! Our little one is ready, and now we can color him in with crayons, markers, or paints, as shown in the picture.

If you enjoy painting, we suggest you try creating not just the character himself, but a full-fledged drawing of Little Raccoon strolling along a beach at night, surrounded by palm trees.
