Hepatolux for dogs

Hepatolux is a safe, highly effective medication used in dogs for liver and gallbladder diseases. Pchelodar, the company that developed the medication, successfully combined the properties of amino acids and medicinal herbs. This allows the medication to be successfully used for various conditions.

General description

To help pet owners choose a convenient form, the company produces Hepatolux in both suspension and tablet forms. Furthermore, the manufacturer offers both forms for dogs in two versions:

Their ingredient compositions are identical. They differ only in the concentration of active ingredients. Tablets and suspensions for large pets contain twice as many active ingredients. When choosing a medication, consider this factor to calculate the correct dosage.

The light-yellow suspension contains both active ingredients and excipients. The medicinal liquid is packaged in polymer vials with a capacity of 25 or 50 ml. Each vial comes with a dosing syringe, making it easy to measure the required amount of liquid.

The tablets are usually yellow. They can be darker or lighter, but this does not affect the medication's properties. The small tablets are packaged in polymer jars. They have screw-on lids, making them convenient for long-term use. Each jar contains 20, 30, or 50 tablets.

Composition and action

Hepatolux improves liver function. It normalizes metabolic processes and helps the body cleanse itself of toxins and heavy metals. The product's comprehensive effect is due to a combination of amino acids and medicinal herbal extracts. The product contains the following ingredients:

  • Essential phospholipids. These esters are naturally occurring, derived from soybeans. Phospholipids not only improve liver function but also regulate metabolic processes, particularly carbohydrate and fat metabolism. When these substances enter the body, the liver is better able to eliminate toxic substances from the animal's body.
  • Methionine. This amino acid is involved in the formation of various biological substances (adrenaline, creatinine, etc.). It neutralizes hazardous compounds and prevents the deposition of fat cells in the liver.
  • Arginine. This amino acid removes substances from the body that are formed during protein metabolism, resulting in lower cholesterol levels. It also stimulates enzyme synthesis, thereby improving gastrointestinal function.
  • Glycine. It affects metabolic processes at all levels. Glycine increases pets' endurance and improves nervous system function.
  • Artichoke leaves. The extract of this plant possesses unique healing properties, which is why it has long been used in human and veterinary medicine. It has a diuretic and detoxifying effect, improves cell regeneration, and prevents fat deposition in this organ. It also helps maintain cholesterol levels.
  • Milk thistle. Overall, it has a positive effect on the liver, as it limits the intake of toxic substances. It also restores fat and protein metabolism.
  • Glycyrrhizic acid salt. Restores liver function and stimulates bile flow. It also relieves spasms, has a detrimental effect on viruses and bacteria, and reduces inflammation.
  • Royal jelly extract. A natural component with unique properties. It has a positive effect not only on the liver, but also on the kidneys, heart, and other internal organs. It reduces inflammation, kills bacteria and viruses, boosts immunity, and more.

How to apply

According to the instructions, Hepatolux is administered to dogs twice daily. Treatment duration is usually long—20-30 days—because liver cell and functional recovery takes a long time. A veterinarian should determine the duration of treatment based on the condition, symptoms, overall health, age, and other factors.

The dosage of the drug is calculated depending on the weight of the animal:

  1. If you are using a suspension for small breeds, you need to take 0.1 ml for each kilogram.
  2. When using a suspension intended for large and medium breeds, 1 ml is calculated for 20 kg of weight.
  3. If you are giving your dog tablets for small breeds, the dosage is calculated using a simple formula: 1 tablet per 10 kg of weight.
  4. When using tablets for representatives of medium and large breeds, it is necessary to take into account that 1 tablet is needed for every 20 kg of weight.

Owner reviews

Margarita, owner of a Pekingese:

"My dog started vomiting in the mornings. Since this happened before breakfast, he was vomiting bile. Seeing him in such distress, I took him to the clinic. The doctor said he simply had bile stasis. To solve the problem, he prescribed Hepatolux. We used the medication in tablet form. Incidentally, there were no problems with its administration. The dog ate the medication with his food without any problems. The vomiting stopped after two days, but we continued taking the tablets for 20 days, as prescribed by the doctor."

Dmitry, the owner of a Rottweiler:

"Our dog has chronic liver problems and two small gallstones. These changes were noticed a couple of years ago. We undergo treatment several times a year. We used Hepatovet before, but after its price went up again, I asked the vet for a different medication. He recommended Hepatolux, which is slightly cheaper. The gallstones are still there, of course, and her test results have improved significantly, so I consider this medication effective."

Veterinarian Reviews

Nina, a veterinarian with 12 years of experience:

"Hepatolux is a good alternative to the promoted Hepatitis"This medication isn't popular, but it's effective. I've confirmed this from personal experience. I usually prescribe it in combination with other medications for maximum effectiveness. The main advantages are its reasonable price and safety. This medication will definitely not harm your dog."

Vadim, a veterinarian at a Moscow clinic:

"I don't use Hepatolux, or other hepatoprotectors, in my practice because I believe they're just a scam. The effectiveness of these products hasn't been clinically proven, but scientists have found that liver cells are capable of regenerating themselves after damage. While the medication won't harm your pet, its benefits are questionable."
