Hemobalance for dogs

Hemobalance is a medicinal product containing a complex of vitamins and minerals. It is typically used in dogs as part of a comprehensive treatment for various ailments. It can also be used to prevent conditions caused by vitamin, micronutrient, and macronutrient deficiencies.

Composition and release form

Hemobalance is available as an injection solution. The dark brown liquid should be clear. The presence of impurities or cloudiness indicates that the medication should not be used for treatment or prophylaxis in animals. The solution is packaged in glass vials sealed with rubber stoppers. Volumes range from 5 to 500 ml. Smaller packages are recommended for dogs.

The biostimulating effect of the drug is due to its active components:

  • DL-methionine. An amino acid involved in the production of hormones, enzymes, proteins, and vitamins. A deficiency of this nutrient can negatively impact the development and growth of puppies and lead to fatty liver disease and liver dysfunction.
  • Glycine. This amino acid has a positive effect on the nervous system, has a calming effect, helps cope with stress, and reduces aggression.
  • L-lysine hydrochloride. This amino acid promotes calcium absorption, essential for bone growth and development, stabilizes heart muscle function, helps prevent anemia, and plays a role in other processes. A deficiency can cause reproductive problems and fatigue.
  • Cobalt sulfate. Participates in hematopoiesis. Deficiency leads to loss of appetite, anemia, and apathy.
  • Copper sulfate. It participates in enzyme synthesis, stimulates growth, and restores metabolism. It provides the body with essential energy.
  • Iron ammonium citrate. Participates in the production of hemoglobin. Low levels of this substance in the body can lead to the development of iron deficiency anemia.
  • Nicotinamide. Helps replenish vitamin PP. It participates in metabolic processes, promotes the absorption of proteins, fats, and amino acids, and has an anti-allergic effect.

Composition of Hemobalance

Hemobalance also contains a complex of vitamins:

  • riboflavin (B2);
  • biotin (H);
  • inositol (B8);
  • choline bitartrate (B4);
  • pyridoxine hydrochloride (B6);
  • D-panthenol.

The medication helps replenish vitamins, microelements, and amino acids involved in vital processes. Hemobalance has the following effects:

  • restores liver function;
  • helps eliminate the effects of stress or prevent their occurrence;
  • improves hematopoiesis, increases hemoglobin levels;
  • normalizes metabolic processes, including the metabolism of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates;
  • increases endurance and muscle performance;

  • 100 ml – 2400-2500 rubles.

You can buy the medication online, at a regular veterinary pharmacy, or in an online store. No prescription is required.

When is it applied?

The instructions for use indicate that Hemobalance is prescribed to dogs as an adjuvant for the following pathologies:

  • allergy;
  • diseases caused by mineral deficiency;
  • liver disease;

A vitamin and mineral complex can eliminate the harmful effects of stressful situations or prevent their occurrence, so it should be taken before such events:

  • exhibitions and competitions;

Please note! This medication is considered safe, but consult a veterinarian before use as there are restrictions.

Dosage and features of use in veterinary medicine

Where should I inject Hemobalance? Hemobalance injections are usually given intramuscularly. For severely weakened animals, it is recommended to administer the medication intravenously along with salt or electrolyte solutions. The dosage is calculated based on the pet's weight:

  1. If the weight is less than 5 kg, the single dose is 0.25 ml.
  2. For dogs weighing from 5 to 15 kg, 0.5 ml is required.
  3. For animals weighing more than 15 kg, 1 ml is required.

For preventative purposes, the medication is taken once a week. If the medication is used for treatment, the number of injections per week is increased to 2-3. Depending on the disease, its severity, and the manifestation of symptoms, the duration of treatment is 2-4 weeks, as determined by the doctor.

Dosage of Hemobalance

To avoid the effects of stress, the medication is administered once, or 8, 6, or 4 days before the event, and immediately before the event itself. If no improvement is observed after 7-10 days of therapeutic use, consult a veterinarian.

Important! When using Hemobalance for your dog, adhere to the recommended dosages as stated in the instructions. An excess of vitamins and minerals is just as dangerous as a deficiency.

The drug can be used in combination with other medications, including antibiotics, symptomatic medications, etc.

Contraindications and side effects

Hemobalance is approved for use by dogs of all ages and weights. It can be given to pregnant and lactating females, weakened and emaciated animals, but is contraindicated in cases of individual intolerance to the ingredients.

The medication has no side effects, but it can cause an allergic reaction. When first administered, the animal should be observed and not left alone for at least a few hours. An antihistamine should be kept on hand to provide immediate assistance if needed. If skin or other adverse reactions occur, the dog should be given an antihistamine and consult a veterinarian.

Please note! Do not use Hemobalance in combination with iron-containing medications.

Storage and use rules

The drug does not lose its pharmacological properties only if stored properly:

  1. The storage area should be away from direct ultraviolet rays and heat sources (batteries, heaters, stoves, etc.).
  2. The air temperature should be 4−25˚C.
  3. The solution must not be exposed to freezing.

Do not use this medication on dogs after the expiration date (indicated on the packaging). If the bottle seal is broken, discard the solution.

Important! If you are interested in any of the Hemobalance alternatives presented in this list, be sure to compare the ingredients listed in the instructions and consult your veterinarian regarding the appropriateness of using a specific product for your pet.

Since all alternatives will differ from the original Hemobalance immunostimulant, choosing a substitute injectable solution should be based on the animal's health and the desired effect. It's possible that your veterinarian will prescribe two medications instead of Hemobalance: a separate vitamin and mineral complex (injectable or tablet form) and a separate immunostimulant.

Owner reviews

Irina, owner of an Austrian hound:

"We first used Hemobalance to treat piroplasmosis. I believe this medication helped our dog overcome this terrible disease. Then the veterinarian told us it could be used preventatively. Now we regularly administer the medication before shows and competitions. The results are clear: her appetite remains the same, her stools are not bad, and she's no longer nervous or showing any other signs of stress. Furthermore, the medication increases her endurance, which is essential for intense training."

Valentina, owner of a 12-year-old German Shepherd:

"As our dog aged, he developed a ton of different health issues. We periodically use Hemobalance for preventative care, which prolongs our pet's life. I learned about this medication from a breeder I know, and now I use it regularly. It's well-tolerated and effective, although it's not always available at pharmacies."

Veterinarian Reviews

Nikita, a veterinarian with 7 years of experience:

"It's a good medication, but it's quite painful. Sometimes small lumps appear at the injection site, but they resolve on their own and don't require special treatment. I often prescribe it for puppies with developmental delays. It doesn't always help. It's effective, but I wouldn't call it a panacea. It's usually used in combination with other medications."

Andrey Grigorievich, a veterinarian with 14 years of experience:

"Hemobalance is an effective vitamin and mineral complex. I've been using it in my practice for a long time. I prescribe it to puppies with developmental delays, pregnant bitches, infectious diseases, and other conditions. No side effects have been observed."
