Gelabon Plus for dogs
Gelabon Plus is a vitamin and mineral complex used for dogs to support proper skeletal development. It is marketed under the Polidex brand by a renowned UK manufacturer.
Content
Release form and features of the complex
Gelabon Plus is a feed supplement in tablet form, packaged in polymer containers. The manufacturer produces the tablets in two varieties:
- Available in 150 and 500-tablet jars, each tablet is suitable for a 5 kg (11 lb) load. Suitable for puppies and adult pets of small and medium breeds.
- Each tablet in a 300-tablet jar is sufficient for 10 kg of food. Suitable for large-breed puppies and medium- and large-breed adult dogs.
The main difference lies in the vitamin, macro-, and micronutrient content. The white tablets are odorless and tasteless, so animals eat them without difficulty or coercion. There are no special storage requirements for the vitamin complex. Simply select a dry location away from direct sunlight, out of reach of children and animals. The air temperature should not exceed 25˚C.
Do not use dog vitamins if the expiration date has passed. The production date and expiration dates can be found on the packaging. Follow the instructions when using Gelabon Plus for dogs.

Compound
The main components of the vitamin-mineral complex are:
- Collagen hydrolysate is a protein that provides elasticity and strength to cartilage and connective tissue, and blood vessels;
- Methylsulfanylmethane (MSM) is sulfur in a special bioavailable form that is involved in the synthesis of collagen and connective tissue, as well as substances present in hair, claws, and skin.
The complex contains vitamins and minerals necessary for the animal’s body:
- Vitamin A makes the skin more elastic and is also necessary for vision;
- ascorbic acid (vitamin C) promotes the absorption of collagen, slows down the aging process, stimulates the immune system;
- Vitamin D is necessary for the normal functioning of the nervous and digestive systems and promotes the absorption of calcium;
- Vitamin E provides cells with additional protection from the effects of negative factors and slows down the aging process;
- calcium acts as a “building material” for bones, increasing their density and strength;
- Manganese takes part in metabolic processes;
- phosphorus ensures proper development and health of teeth and is also necessary for gums;
- Magnesium stimulates heart function and brain activity.

How much does it cost and where can I buy it?
Those wishing to purchase Gelabon for dogs can visit their nearest pharmacy or pet store. You can also order the product online from a website that sells veterinary medications and pet supplies.
The price of Gelabon depends on the packaging:
- 150 tablets – 450-500 rubles;
- 300 tablets – 900-950 rubles;
- 500 tablets – 850-900 rubles.
What properties does it have?
Thanks to its complex composition, the product has the following effects on the body:
- strengthens bones, promotes proper development of the skeletal system;
- prevents or eliminates "spread of the front limbs";
- promotes the restoration of joints, joint capsules, cartilage and connective tissue;
- accelerates the rehabilitation process after various injuries (fractures, dislocations, sprains);
- prevents demineralization and bone fragility.
The vitamins and minerals contained in the complex improve the condition of the skin and coat, and have a positive effect on the functioning of the digestive, cardiac, nervous, and other systems. They also prevent development of vitamin deficiency, the risk of which increases with improper or unbalanced nutrition.
When to apply?
Because the complex contains collagen and calcium, as well as other minerals, it prevents and eliminates bone loosening and porosity. Therefore, Gelabon promotes the proper formation of the forelimbs, ears, and bite. It is used for both preventative and therapeutic purposes in the following cases:
- at joint dysplasia, in particular the hip;
- for pathologies of cartilage and joints;
- in degenerative age-related changes;
- in case of fractures, dislocations and sprains, as well as other injuries;
- in case of bone demineralization;
- with a weak muscular corset.
It is especially recommended to take a vitamin and mineral complex:
- puppies during the period of skeletal formation (up to 36 months);
- pregnant and lactating females;
- for older animals to prevent age-related changes;
- dogs during periods of intense exercise and sports competitions.

When females take this supplement during pregnancy and lactation, it ensures proper skeletal development by providing the body with the necessary vitamins and minerals. It also helps the body recover more quickly from various injuries.
Please note! Gelabon Plus is a food supplement, not a medication. For serious musculoskeletal conditions, it is used in conjunction with medications to achieve effective treatment results.
Instructions for use
According to the instructions, Gelabon Polydex is given to dogs once daily. The number of tablets is calculated based on the type of product and the animal's weight. The manufacturer produces tablets for 5 and 10 kg of body weight.
If the product is combined with other vitamin complexes, the dosage is reduced.
The tablets are mixed into the pet's food, whole or crushed. Some animals eat the product directly from your hand. The course of treatment lasts from 1 to 3 months, depending on the intended use (preventive or therapeutic), the animal's health, and other factors. The course is repeated up to 3 times per year.

It is recommended to take Gelabon Plus for dogs of different breeds and ages, since the formation of collagen fibers in connective tissue occurs daily.
Contraindications and side effects
Gelabon Plus has no contraindications. It is approved for use in puppies and aging animals, as well as pregnant and lactating females. Contraindications are recommended only in cases of individual intolerance to any of the ingredients, but this is very rare.
The vitamin complex is well tolerated by pets and does not cause any side effects. During long-term use, it is important to monitor the animal's calcium levels to ensure they do not exceed the recommended levels.
Advantages
All Polidex products, including Gelabon Plus, are certified and have passed quality control. Other benefits of this vitamin and mineral complex include:
- does not cause allergic reactions;
- well tolerated by pets;
- compatible with any food and medications;
- does not contain fragrances or colorants;
- compatible with other vitamins from the company Polidex;
- can be used for dogs of different ages and breeds.

The mineral and vitamin content is balanced. Even if the recommended dosage is exceeded, the product does not cause side effects and is not capable of harming the animal's body.
Owner reviews
Vita, the owner of a shepherd dog:
"Large breed dogs are prone to hind leg dysplasia. We were also affected by this condition, although it manifested itself in adulthood (our dog was 5 years old). The doctor advised that our shepherd needed constant support with special products and prescribed Gelabon. The results were noticeable within two weeks. Our dog became more active, allowed petting, and allowed me to examine his joints. I have only positive experiences with the product."
Victor, the pug's owner:
"When the dog started making clicking sounds when he walked, we went to the vet. He prescribed Gelabon Polydex for six months. We bought a large bottle of 500 tablets. After two months, there was no improvement, so we stopped the medication and went to another hospital for a comprehensive examination."
Marina, the owner of a Rottweiler:
"Our dog first developed problems with her front paws when she was a puppy. After a course of this complex, she improved significantly, and the hip dysplasia remained undetected until she was three years old. When she turned eight, her joint problems became more frequent, but we still rely on Gelabon. As soon as we take a break, she gets worse again."
Veterinarian Reviews
Valentina Mikhailovna, a veterinarian with 15 years of experience:
"Gelabon is a good product for supporting animal joints and ensuring proper skeletal development. I consider its reasonable price compared to other foreign alternatives an advantage. It contains half as much collagen hydrosylate as Gelakan, so I prefer the latter in my practice."
Gennady, a veterinarian with 8 years of experience:
"A well-balanced, high-quality vitamin complex. I usually recommend it for the prevention of joint and skeletal problems. Owners of large-breed puppies should pay particular attention to this complex. I've seen from my own experience that timely prevention reduces the risk of serious pathologies in adulthood."

Good afternoon.
Please tell me, should I use Gelabon if my dog's ears (German Shepherd) have become weak after teething, the ear is weak and has started to dangle.

Hello! It's best to review your pet's diet. This means it's not getting enough calcium and vitamins. Add more fermented milk products and vitamin D (fish oil) to the same portion of fermented milk (otherwise, the calcium won't be absorbed). In fact, if your pet's calcium deficiency is so severe that their ears are drooping, supplements alone won't be enough. They'll be a supplement to the diet, not the primary source of vitamins and calcium.

Hello. My Amstaff puppy is 5 months old. Can he be given Gelabon Plus if he eats Wolsblat dry food with horse meat? If so, what is the dosage and how much? Thank you.

Hello! You've chosen excellent food for your pet. It's a high-quality European food containing a large amount of vitamins, micro- and macroelements, and amino acids. If you compare the ingredients in the Gelabon Plus vitamin and mineral complex with your puppy's food, you'll notice that the latter contains significantly more essential elements. Adding Gelabon is generally pointless (hypervitaminosis—an excess of vitamins—is just as bad as a deficiency). If you feed according to the recommended portions, there shouldn't be any problems (choose the puppy line; it will contain exactly what a growing body needs).

Hello. My puppy is 2 months old (medium breed). What is the recommended course of Gelabon Plus for preventative purposes? He's being fed natural food.

Hello! For preventative purposes, it is recommended to take Gelabon Plus in a 1-3 month course (depending on how balanced the puppy's diet is and how much vegetables, dairy, and meat it eats daily). If you choose a 1-month course, you can repeat the treatment every 3 months (take one month, take a 3-month break, then take another month), for a total of 3 times a year. However, this is not necessary; twice a year is also possible. If you choose to give it for 2-3 months, then every six months (preferably in spring and fall, when vitamin deficiencies are most common).

Please tell me how long the interval should be between doses of GELABON. I have a 3-month-old Labrador puppy.

Hello! Are you using this for preventative or therapeutic purposes? How long have you chosen for the course? Did you prescribe it yourself or was it recommended by a veterinarian? While the medication is good, a course that's too long won't do any good. Much also depends on the animal's diet (natural food or commercial food, super-premium or budget). Some people use it for 10 days, then a 5-day break, and then another 10 days of vitamins. Others use it continuously for 2-3 weeks, followed by a few months of "rest." Each treatment is chosen individually, based on your goals and the animal's medical history.
