Gamavit for dogs

The veterinary drug Gamavit is well known to all veterinarians in our country. Due to its effectiveness and significant immunomodulatory effect, this medication is prescribed as an adjunct to primary therapy, as well as an adjuvant in the treatment of injuries, poisonings, infectious diseases, and various vitamin deficiencies. Let's take a closer look at Gamavit for dogs.

Manufacturer

The company ZAO Mikro-Plus has been operating in the veterinary market for over 20 years, and during this time, three products of its own development have appeared in its product list – Gamavit, Maxidin and FosprenilAll of these drugs were created and then gradually improved by the company's employees, who have extensive experience in scientific research.

Thanks to its own research laboratory and partnerships with farms and veterinary clinics, Micro-Plus is constantly working to refine and improve existing products, as well as synthesize new ones.

It is particularly emphasized that both the development and production of these veterinary drugs take place in Russia and do not involve any foreign companies. This allows for a significant reduction in the price of the drug and other medications, while maintaining a very high level of quality.

Composition of Gamavit

According to the package insert, Gamavit's main active ingredients are sodium nucleinate and emulsified denatured placenta hydrolysate. Water for injection and Medium-199 (10x concentrated)—substances for cell culture propagation and maintenance—are used as auxiliary additives.

  • Sodium nucleinate – a highly active biological agent that promotes rapid healing of wounds and injuries, stimulates active production of leukocytes, and also enhances all protective processes (stimulation of the immune mechanism).
  • Placenta hydrolysate – a substance obtained by aqueous breakdown of placental tissue. It has a pronounced effect on accelerating tissue regeneration, as well as an immunomodulatory effect, thereby promoting maximum concentration of the body's resources to combat illness.

Also, the instructions for the drug Gamavit for dogs indicate the content of water and medium-199, but they are of no interest for the description, and are only the habitat of the necessary cells (solvents).

Available in 6, 10, and 100 ml glass bottles containing a reddish, transparent liquid. The medication has a shelf life of 2 years at temperatures between +2°C and +25°C. However, after opening, the medication cannot be stored for long periods of time and must be used entirely.

The effectiveness of the drug

The manufacturer claims the drug's proven effectiveness. Studies were conducted on two groups of animals (cats and dogs), one of which received Gamavit as part of a comprehensive treatment for various conditions, while the other received conservative treatment.

The result demonstrates a significant increase in the percentage of cured animals and a decrease in the number of deaths in the groups treated with Gamavit.

Instructions for use

The instructions for using Gamavit for dogs state that the drug is a natural stimulant and can be used to speed up recovery after surgery and injuries, as well as for other health issues in pets.

Another important aspect is stimulating resistance to stress and strain. This means the medication has a pronounced calming effect and also increases endurance. This is important for dogs preparing for shows, veterinary visits, or sporting competitions.

As for administration, it's simple: it's an injection solution that can be administered subcutaneously, intravenously, or intramuscularly. If the dog drinks on its own, you can give it water with the medication.

Preventive appointment

For preventative purposes, the dosage is 0.1 ml/1 kg of animal weight. This dose applies to:

  • recovery periods after injuries and surgeries.
  • after vaccinations (in order to support the body).
  • for old and weakened animals.

The frequency of use for preventive purposes is 1-3 times a week for 2-4 weeks (at the discretion of the doctor).

To increase endurance and stress resistance, this dosage is administered 8, 6, 4 days before the required date, as well as immediately before stress or exercise.

Treatment of diseases

For therapeutic purposes, the dosage of Gamavit for dogs is different:

  • In cases of acute poisoning – 2 times a day at a rate of 0.5-1.5 ml/1 kg of animal weight. The most effective administration is intravenous;
  • For infectious diseases Gamavit is used in a dosage of 0.5 ml/1 kg 2-3 times a day for 3-5 days in combination with other medications;
  • When deworming a dog – 0.3 ml/1 kg on the day of deworming, and the same dose the next day;
  • For Babesiosis (Piroplasmosis) the drug is prescribed 2 or 3 times a day at 0.5 ml/1 kg for 3-5 days;
  • If there is a risk of developing anemiadogs are prescribed a dosage of 0.2 ml / 1 kg for 5-10 days;
  • During recovery from serious illnesses and in the postoperative period a prophylactic dose of 0.1 ml/1 kg will be sufficient.

During childbirth

In addition to preventing various diseases and boosting immunity, the solution can be used to stimulate natural labor, both in a clinical setting and when giving birth at home.

Unlike many synthetic oxytocin hormone substitutes, the placenta hydrolysate present in Gamavit provides gentle, natural stimulation without the risk of uterine spasms or the threat of muscle fiber rupture.

In order to prepare for childbirth, it is recommended to use the product from the 59th day of pregnancy.

Method No. 1 (injections)

The solution can be administered at home by injection once daily for three days. The optimal dosage is 0.1 ml per kg of body weight.

Method No. 2 (soldering)

If the animal accepts the medication diluted in water, oral administration can be substituted for injections. The medication is administered twice daily for three days, but the oral dosage is 0.2 ml per kg.

At the first signs of labor, Gamavit is also administered at a dose of 0.2 ml per kilogram. It is recommended to repeat the injection after the birth of the first puppy, and then every hour until the last puppy is born.

Another indication for the drug's use is the resuscitation of weakened puppies and prophylaxis if cloudy water is detected. Newborns are given the substance by injection, a single dose of 0.1-0.3 ml, depending on their size. Later, when the puppies have become somewhat stronger and begin to show activity, they can be given water. A dose of 0.1-0.3 ml per puppy per day will provide the required vitamin dose.

Before general anesthesia

If a dog or cat is undergoing preoperative preparation and is to undergo general anesthesia, the use of a drug to support the pet's body is also recommended.

The ingredients in Gamavit not only help the body overcome various illnesses, but also have a beneficial effect on metabolism, alleviating symptoms during surgery, accelerating recovery from general anesthesia, and initiating tissue regeneration processes.

After scrolling through the pages of online stores, we saw the following average prices:

  • 6 ml – from 140 rubles;
  • 10 ml – from 195 rubles;
  • 100 ml – from 1220 rubles.

We also found several stores with significantly lower prices (20-40%). Reviews of Gamavit for dogs

In addition to reviews from veterinarians, who generally agree that Gamavit is an excellent preventative treatment, there are numerous opinions online from ordinary people who have used the medication as prescribed by doctors or on the advice of friends. We'll share just a few of them so you can see what breeders think about this product:

Elena, Chihuahua breeder:

"Before we learned about Gamavit, my dogs would arrive at shows terrified, with shaking paws and square eyes. Competitions were, of course, out of the question. But then I bought a few bottles and started giving them water and water according to the instructions. The fear has disappeared without a trace—the dogs are calm, confident, and take prizes! Thank you, Gamavit!"

Anton, owner of an English bulldog:

"The surgery was necessary, and I was very worried about my dog, but the doctor assured me everything would be fine. He recommended Gamavit supplements for post-operative support, and I followed his advice. Within 10 days, my Bulldog was back on his feet, and within a month, everything had healed perfectly. I'm glad I listened to the doctor."

Valeria, Maltese breeder:

"We used this medication during our little one's labor, using the recommended dosage (at 59-61 days, and then during labor). We live in a large city like Moscow, so we were very worried that the vet wouldn't be able to get there in time for the birth, so we learned how to administer the injections and were generally prepared to handle the situation ourselves if necessary. Everything went perfectly. The mother gave birth without any problems, she's recovering quickly, and the babies are strong and gaining weight well."

As we can see, reviews from satisfied owners only reinforce the opinion that Gamavit is a very good stimulating and healing drug, which can also serve as a stress reliever in various situations.
