General description
Furinaid (original name: Furinaid) is produced as a gel. This light-brown, transparent gel is packaged in plastic bottles. Each bottle is equipped with a special dispenser, which significantly simplifies administration. To measure the required amount of medication, simply press the dispenser once or twice. Each bottle holds 150 ml. This amount is sufficient for three full courses of treatment for one animal.

There are no special storage requirements for this medication. Simply place the gel bottle in a dry place away from sunlight. Although the medication is considered safe, it should still be stored away from food and pet food. The temperature should be between 5 and 25°C. Do not allow the gel to freeze, as this may cause it to lose its medicinal properties.
Action and features
Urological pathologies are common in cats due to hypothermia, poor nutrition, and other causes. These conditions are typically accompanied by pain, urinary problems, and other unpleasant symptoms. These conditions require long-term, comprehensive treatment, but Furinaid can significantly speed up your pet's recovery.
The medication contains N-acetylglucosamine. This substance is found in the cells that form the protective layer in the bladder. It serves as a kind of "building block" or foundation for the formation of new cells. Regular administration of this substance accelerates regeneration processes, resulting in the restoration of the bladder mucosa. Inflammation damages the organ's protective layer, making the tissue susceptible to irritants, leading to pain and other symptoms. As the mucosa is restored, the unpleasant symptoms of genitourinary disorders subside.

Because N-acetyl glycosamine is in gel form, it is quickly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. In the animal's body, it interacts with hyaluronic acid, which is present in the epithelium and other tissues. The substance is well tolerated by pets, is non-addictive, and has no negative toxic effects.
When to apply
According to the instructions for use, Furinaid is used in cats to treat the following diseases:
- cystitis;
- infectious diseases of the genitourinary tract;
- urolithiasis;
- urological syndrome;
- other urological pathologies.
Please note! This medication can be used to treat idiopathic cystitis. This condition is characterized by inflammation caused by stress and other external factors.

The medication is typically used in combination with other medications. These may include antibacterial or antiviral drugs, or medications that target symptoms. Furinaid can also be used prophylactically. Its use is especially relevant for animals with a history of genitourinary problems, as well as for older pets.
How to apply
Furinaid gel is given daily with food. It can be added to any treat your pet enjoys. If the medication is used prophylactically for multiple animals, each pet should be given separately, with the correct dosage.
The dosage of the drug is calculated simply:
- For the first two weeks, the daily dose of gel is 2.5 ml (two pumps). The dose does not depend on the animal's weight or age.
- After acute symptoms subside after 14 days, the dose is halved. To ensure a long-lasting effect, the pet is given 1.25 ml daily for another 14 days.
If a cat refuses gel-containing food, it's possible to force-feed the medication, but this creates additional difficulties for owners. A small spoon or a needle-less syringe can be used for this purpose.

Please note! When using Furinaid, your pet must have constant access to clean drinking water. The medication causes a constant feeling of thirst. Failure to replenish water intake may lead to dehydration.
Price
A 150-milliliter bottle of Furinaid costs 1,700-2,500 rubles. Prices vary widely not only across regions but also between pharmacies. One bottle is enough for three full courses of treatment.
What restrictions exist?
Furinaid is a safe medication for animals with no contraindications. It can be given to pets of all ages, including older animals that may have health issues.

The gel is well tolerated by cats of various breeds and can be used without restrictions, although it is still important to adhere to the recommended dosage. Use should only be discontinued if the animal is allergic to any of the ingredients. However, in practice, this is extremely rare.
Advantages and disadvantages
The main advantages of Furinaid include the following:
- Can be used for treatment and prevention of urological diseases.
- Compatible with various medications and foods.
- It's effective. Pet owners and veterinarians report noticeable results within just a few days.
- There are no restrictions on use and can be used for animals regardless of their age, breed and weight.
- It does not cause side effects and is well tolerated by animals.
Furinaid is not a cure-all, but it provides effective support for cats with urological diseases. The formula is tailored to the specific needs of cats, the underlying mechanisms of urological diseases, and other important factors.

The disadvantages include the length of the treatment course. If the animal eats the gel independently along with food, this isn't a problem, but it's a different matter entirely if the medication needs to be forced down. Purchasing can also be difficult. While Furinaid for cats is available in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other large cities, it's often unavailable in smaller towns.
Owner reviews
Marina, owner of a Russian Blue cat:
"We were prescribed Furinaid for cystitis along with other medications. Finding the gel in pharmacies was a challenge. We had to call every pharmacy. The price is very high, and its effectiveness is difficult to judge. The problem is, our cat flatly refused to eat food with the gel. We had to force-feed him the medication. This wasn't always successful. We successfully treated the cystitis, but Furinaid wasn't responsible for that."
Ekaterina, owner of a Persian cat:
"We were prescribed this food supplement to treat our beautiful cat's cystitis. The manufacturer claims that cats eat the gel themselves, but that's not true. Our Pushinka immediately detected a smell that she didn't like. Even attempts to hide the gel deep in her food were unsuccessful. We forced it down her throat for a couple of weeks, and then asked the vet to adjust the treatment."
Galina, owner of a 10-year-old cat:
"Treating idiopathic cystitis was a real ordeal for us. The treatments would provide temporary results, but after the course was completed, the disease would return. One day, a friend, an avid cat lover, told us about Furinaid and recommended we try it on our cat. Since the medication has no contraindications, we started looking for it at the pharmacy. It wasn't an easy task; most pharmacies hadn't even heard of it, but we finally found it. The cat ate the medication without any problems (we mixed it with her canned food), and within a week her condition had improved. We now take it periodically as a preventative measure."
Veterinarian Reviews
Vladimir, a veterinarian with 8 years of experience:
"Furinaid is a good food supplement. It's excellent support for urological conditions, which cats often experience. It won't cure the disease, but it can speed up the process. The main drawback is that it's very difficult to find in pharmacies."
Tamara, a veterinarian with 12 years of experience:
"I consider Furinaid a waste of money. The claims about its effectiveness are exaggerated, in my opinion. Moreover, I've heard from owners more than once that their pets refuse to eat the gel voluntarily. Whether or not to buy it is entirely up to you. It certainly won't cause any harm, but its effectiveness is questionable."

To our surprise, our vet recommended Furinaid for our German Shepherd. We gave him four doses twice a day for two weeks, but by the fifth day, our pet was running around happily. He was suffering from urolithiasis, severe inflammation, and stones, and couldn't pee. Furinaid, Cornam, and three days of antibiotics were all we needed.

I treated several animals with Furinaid, and there was immediate relief, and my cat, who used to pee every three days, started going daily. I fed them soup at Felix. This is the only sauce they eat, and there were no problems introducing the supplement. Just add a couple of spoons of Furinaid to the sauce of their favorite food, then squeeze it once, and the mixture is ready.

Good afternoon! Could you please tell me? I've been taking Furinaid for a month. How long should I wait before repeating it?

Hello! Typically, preventative treatment with such medications, if there are no exacerbations during the period, is administered twice a year. However, it's important that your pet always has a bowl of clean water freely available. And that they're fed high-quality food with a genitourinary preventative. This shouldn't cause any problems. This medication is not cheap, so please follow the storage instructions to prevent spoilage.

A wonderful supplement. It really works. I highly recommend it. My cat had cystitis, and our vet recommended Furinaid right away. He said if you can find it, we'll give it to him. It turned out to be quite difficult to find, but we did, and it helped. The product is very effective and high-quality. The cat licked it up himself.

My 12-year-old cat developed cystitis as a side effect of Neoral. She suffered from it every month. As soon as the cystitis appeared, we'd go to the vet. We'd complete the course of treatment, but a month later it would start again. The vet prescribed Furinaid. It was difficult to find, so I ordered it online. I've been adding it to her wet meat food every morning since August. She didn't start eating right away; I added it little by little. Now she eats the food very well with the medication. She sometimes sits on the potty for long periods of time, but this happens much less often than before. I'm sure Furinaid is helping.
