Fungin Forte is a medication for cats.

Fungin Forte is an effective, broad-spectrum, complex drug used to treat fungal diseases in cats, including ringwormDeveloped by the Russian company Api-San.

Composition and release form

The medication is a liquid, usually light or dark yellow. It is packaged in glass or polymer bottles. Their capacity varies from 10 to 50 ml. Polymer bottles may be equipped with a spray head. A spray is considered more convenient to use, especially for large areas of skin lesions, but the composition of the medicinal solution remains the same.

Fungin Forte solution

A complex of active ingredients ensures high effectiveness. Fungin Forte contains:

  • terbinafine;
  • dexamethasone;
  • metronidazole;
  • lidocaine.

The auxiliary components are:

  • polyethylene glycol;
  • benzyl alcohol;
  • dimethyl sulfoxide;
  • orange terpene.

Pharmacological properties

The main advantage of this medication is its broad spectrum of action, which is determined by its active ingredients. It is effective in killing various types of fungi and promotes the restoration of skin and hair, which typically falls out in areas affected by the disease.

Fungin Forte solution and spray

Each of the active components has its own effect:

  1. Terbinafine has antifungal properties. It works by blocking an enzyme essential for the survival and development of fungi. The absence of this enzyme leads to their rapid death. The substance barely penetrates the bloodstream but can accumulate in the sebaceous glands and hair follicles.
  2. Thiabendozole has pronounced fungicidal (antifungal) properties. It not only disrupts the metabolic processes of fungi, leading to their death, but also destroys their reproductive capacity, preventing them from reproducing.
  3. Metronidazole has an antibacterial effect. It is effective even against protozoa that can pose a serious threat to animals and humans.
  4. Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticosteroid with a broad spectrum of activity. It suppresses inflammation and has immunosuppressive, antiallergic, and antitoxic effects.
  5. Lidocaine reduces pain by suppressing the sensitivity of nerve endings.

The medicine promotes wound healing and restoration of the coat, as it initiates regenerative processes.

Owner reviews

Olesya, the owner of a Persian cat:

"Our handsome guy caught ringworm somewhere. The vet prescribed Fungin for treatment. I bought the spray at the pharmacy. After just five days of use, hair started growing back in the affected areas. The medication was effective, although there was a relapse after a while. On the recommendation of a friend, I used Clotrimazole ointment. It's just as effective as the spray, but significantly cheaper."

Oksana, owner of a 2-year-old cat:

"On the doctor's recommendation, I used this medication to treat my cat's ringworm. The animal became restless, so I had to discontinue the treatment. Afterward, I used sulfur ointment. I didn't notice any difference in effectiveness, but Miki tolerated the treatment well."

Elena, owner of a 2-month-old kitten:

"A good product. We used it to treat ringworm in a kitten. We used it for 10 days. The fur began to regrow on the seventh day. No side effects were observed. The kitten was indifferent to the treatments."

Veterinarian Reviews

Marina, a veterinarian with 14 years of experience:

"I believe Fungin Forte is quite toxic. I don't recommend using it, especially for kittens. I've heard of cases of poisoning from this medication. There are now many safer and more effective treatments for fungal infections, and some of them are cheaper."

Sergey, veterinarian:

"I once had to save a small kitten from Fungin poisoning. The little one licked the medication. Fortunately, the owners sought medical attention in time, and the animal was saved. For fungal infections, I usually prescribe Itraconazole. I recommend special shampoos for kittens. They are safe and effective."

  • Somehow, ringworm got into my wife's cattery. A veterinarian I know recommended two options: mass bathing (22 cats) or Fungin Forte spray. Common sense decided against Fungin, and after two applications, everyone's bald spots started to heal. No one was poisoned, and there were absolutely no side effects. It's a wonderful product! And good veterinarians always prescribe it (some, it turns out, are paid to prescribe supertoxins like keto/intraconazole).

  • A highly toxic and poisonous product! It certainly treats ringworm – positive changes in the ringworm spots were immediately noticeable. Prevent your pet from licking the product! Use a lick-prevention collar! Fungin Forte is deadly poisonous! My 2-month-old kitten died from poisoning from it. Even the vet couldn't save her!
