General description

Fospazym is a transparent, colorless liquid that is available in one of the following dosage forms:

  • drops for oral use (supplied in 20 ml bottles with a dropper-shaped stopper).

The shelf life is 3 years from the date of manufacture. Store in a dry place at a temperature of 0-30°C, away from sunlight. Opened bottles should be used within 21 days. Improper storage conditions, damaged packaging, cloudiness or discoloration of the liquid, or the presence of impurities make Fospasim unsuitable for use.

The formula is based on plant extracts and mineral tinctures:

  • yellow phosphorus;
  • black henbane;
  • aconite pharmaceutical;
  • passionflower (passion flower) red and white;
  • dried musk deer;
  • Ignatia abstemium;
  • platinum.

The drops and injection solution contain the same components. The differences lie in their dilution rates and the excipients used: glycerin and purified water (in the drops), sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid, ethyl alcohol, sodium acetate trihydrate, and water for injection (in the injection solution).

Operating principle

Fospasim components provide:

  • stabilization of the emotional and psychological state;
  • antipsychotic effect;
  • reduction of manifestations of aggression and fearfulness;
  • increasing the body's adaptive capabilities;
  • suppression of emotional reactivity and hyperkinesis (involuntary pathological movements);
  • regulation of the work of the brain regions involved in the formation of emotional-behavioral reactions, sensorimotor integration and learning processes.

Note! A key advantage of Fospasim is its exceptionally calming effect, without slowing reactions, drowsiness, or lethargy.

Fospasim is classified as a low-hazard substance with no local irritant or sensitizing effects. Even long-term use does not pose a risk to the animal's health, does not lead to a buildup of active ingredients, or disruption of the normal functioning of any organs or systems after the course is completed. The key is to select the correct dosage.

Price

Fospasim isn't one of the most affordable medications, which can be considered one of its drawbacks. The price of a 20 ml bottle of drops ranges from 370 to 460 rubles, while the injection solution costs 780 to 880 rubles per 100 ml bottle.

Indications for use

It is advisable to use Fospasim for cats to stabilize their emotional and psychological state in the following cases:

  • destructive, nervous, overly obsessive behavior, hyperactivity, aggression, associated with, among other things, the fear of loneliness, separation from the owner, finding oneself in a new environment and other sources of stress;
  • timidity without apparent reason;
  • fear of loud noises (fireworks, gunshots, thunderstorms, etc.);
  • the need for transportation;
  • anxiety disorders;
  • substitution activity, when the pet is ready to repeat the same actions for a long time (for example, digging in the litter box);
  • the need to develop new forms of behavior for participation in exhibitions;
  • premedication to enhance the effect of sedatives and narcotics and reduce the likelihood of developing side effects after surgery.

Important! Behavioral problems can sometimes be a sign of underlying medical conditions, so it's recommended to have your pet examined by a veterinarian first to rule out or identify any potential underlying conditions.

Owner reviews

Evgeniya, owner of the nursery:

"I've been buying Fospasim for my pets for over five years: before participating in shows, for female cats before they go into heat, for male cats during the "heat" period when mating is impossible, and even for kittens before they are handed over to new owners. I also recommend using this sedative at first to help the kittens adjust to their new home. It helps animals cope with stressful situations, and I haven't observed any side effects."

Kirill, owner of the cat Mars:

"An effective medication. Our cat is very anxious and occasionally shows aggression. Last year, we gave him Fospasim drops when another cat arrived in the house (his parents left their pet for three weeks while they went on vacation). We recently completed another course of sedatives due to the upcoming addition to the family, as we were worried about a negative reaction to a small child in the house."

Veterinarian Reviews

Nikolai Petrovich, a veterinarian with 10 years of experience:

"For me, Fospasim is a modern drug that is my number one choice for treating behavioral disorders in cats. Its advantages include the absence of contraindications and side effects, its universality for all ages, and its compatibility with other medications. Initially, I was skeptical about the claimed properties, but through personal experience I am convinced of its effectiveness."

Anatoly, veterinarian:

"Fospasim helps with mild behavioral issues. But, like any homeopathy, it doesn't work in every case. I don't see the point in prescribing it for more serious problems. In my practice, I sometimes use it as a premedication when planning surgery for hyperactive animals."
