Composition and features

The composition of these dosage forms is virtually identical, but they differ in their specific use and indications (they are used for the treatment and prevention of various diseases).

The drug's core component is the Panavir complex. This is a pre-purified potato sprout extract. It contains various polysaccharides. A full list of these can be found in the instructions for use. Sodium chloride and purified water are additional components that serve only a supporting role. The eye drops also contain nipagin.

The injection solution is packaged in glass ampoules or vials. They come in various volumes (starting from 1 ml), making it easy to select the appropriate size package depending on the animal's weight and duration of use.

Important! There are no special storage requirements for this medication, but once opened, it can only be used within 2 weeks.

The eye drops are packaged in polymer bottles equipped with a dropper, making them easy and convenient to use. Bottles are available in 5 and 10 ml sizes. For puppies and small animals, choose the smaller bottle, while for medium and large dogs, it's best to choose the larger bottle.

What is the price?

The price of Forvet in pharmacies is approximately as follows:

  • solution 5 ml (one bottle) – 380 rub.;

  • has a pronounced cytoprotective effect, which ensures the protection of healthy cells from harmful influences;
  • increases the production of interferon (a protein that is produced in response to infection);
  • inhibits the process of viral infection reproduction by disrupting DNA bonds;
  • increases the viability of infected cells.

The drug also has the following effects:

  • increases the body's resistance to various adverse factors;
  • increases cellular immunity;
  • improves metabolic processes;
  • destroys viruses of various types.

Forvet is classified as a low-hazard substance. It does not cause local irritation, does not adversely affect fetal development, and does not induce mutations.

Indications for use

According to the instructions for use, Forvet for dogs can be used to combat dangerous infectious diseases:

The drug is used for skin conditions and wounds that don't heal for a long time. It is also prescribed to animals in the following cases:

  • for the prevention of pathologies caused by viral infections;
  • to prevent complications after vaccination;
  • for the treatment or prevention of complications after surgery and serious injuries;
  • to prevent behavioral disorders during stress (a trip to the veterinarian, visiting an exhibition, the arrival of guests, etc.).

Interdigital dermatitis

Forvet drops are prescribed to dogs for infectious eye diseases:

Eye drops are usually used in combination with other medications to enhance the animal's defenses and resistance to infections, as well as to accelerate the regeneration of eye tissue.

How is it applied?

The use of an immunostimulant depends on the form of release and whether it is used for prevention or treatment.

Injection solution

The instructions state that Forvet injections are given to dogs intravenously, intramuscularly, or subcutaneously. When using the medication prophylactically, the following dosages are followed:

  • for puppies – 0.5 ml;
  • for animals weighing 1-10 kg – 1 ml;
  • for dogs weighing from 10 to 30 kg – 2.5 ml;
  • for pets weighing over 30 kg – 5 ml.

Injections are administered twice, 1-2 days apart. The same regimen is used for vaccinations or to prevent the effects of stressful situations.

Subcutaneous injection for a puppy

If Forvet is used for medicinal purposes, the regimen and dosage depend on the disease:

  1. For plague, infectious hepatitis, and viral diseases, the medication is administered once daily, following the same dosage as for prophylaxis. Treatment lasts 5 to 10 days. In some cases, the course may be extended by a veterinarian.
  2. If the medication is used to treat atopic dermatitis or inflammatory skin conditions, it is administered daily for 7-10 days to accelerate wound healing. The dosage is calculated as follows: 1 ml of solution per 10 kg of body weight.

To prevent complications after surgery and speed up the recovery period, two injections are administered: one the day before surgery and the second the day after. The dosage is calculated according to the standard schedule (as for prophylaxis).

Eye drops

Eye drops One drop is instilled into the conjunctival sac. The procedure is repeated 4-5 times a day, and the treatment duration is 7 to 30 days. For advanced or severe conditions, the eye drops are used in conjunction with Forvet injections.

Important! During treatment, the immunostimulant serves only a supportive function—it increases the body's resistance to infections. Therefore, it is used only in combination with other medications. The primary treatment is determined by a doctor, taking into account the pathology, symptoms, and clinical features.

Owner reviews

Antonina, owner of a Chihuahua:

"Because I have to travel frequently on business, my dog travels with me, and she doesn't handle it well. After being transported by car or bus, her behavior completely changes, to the point of eating plastic and becoming aggressive. Eczema breaks out on her stomach. On the veterinarian's advice, we started using Forvet. The first time we used it to treat the effects of stress, and then later on, for prevention, and the results are always amazing."

Nina, owner of a smooth-haired French shepherd:

"We used this drug for adenovirus. I was amazed at its effectiveness. The weakness and fever didn't go away even after the initial treatment, but after the first injection of Forvet, the dog improved. I used to be wary of Russian medications, but this drug changed my mind. Our manufacturers can do good work, too, if they want to."

Veterinarian Reviews

Lyubov, a veterinarian with 7 years of experience:

"I first learned about Forvet back in 2010, when I was working as an assistant at a city clinic. Back then, a sales representative gave the clinic a few bottles of the medication for free to try. The results showed it was highly effective. It was primarily used to treat viral infections, and within 3-4 days, all the main symptoms had resolved. Now I often prescribe it to my patients not only for infections but also for stress and atopic dermatitis."

Vadim, a veterinarian with 10 years of experience:

"Forvet is a new-generation herbal immunomodulator. It has long been successfully used in our clinic to treat infectious diseases. The drug is effective (I've personally verified this), but I consider its rather high price a drawback. You can find a cheaper medication with similar effects."
