Range of rations

The Farmina ND range includes the following lines of dry food:

  1. Grain-free foods are formulated with a combination of animal-based ingredients (70%), potatoes (as a source of carbohydrates), and other vegetables, fruits, and minerals. These options include: "Chicken & Pomegranate" (separate diets for kittens and adult cats), "Wild Boar & Apple," "Lamb & Blueberry," and "Fish & Orange."
  2. Low-grain products are designed for adult pets with the addition of non-traditional grains: spelt and oats (10% each). In addition to grains, various products include "Chicken & Pomegranate," "Cod & Orange," and "Lamb & Blueberry."
  3. Pumpkin – We offer adult diets with dehydrated pumpkin (5%): "Herring, Orange," "Duck, Muskmelon," and "Quail, Pomegranate." The latter option is also available as a separate product for spayed and neutered animals.
  4. Quinoa – created with the addition of a rare ingredient – quinoa seed extract (8% of the composition), which is distinguished by a high concentration of amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and saponins. Other ingredients in this line are also reflected in the names of the meals: "Duck, Cranberry, and Chamomile," "Lamb, Fennel, and Mint," "Quail, Coconut, and Turmeric," and "Lamb, Broccoli, and Asparagus."

Note! Although the names of additives like blueberry, pomegranate, orange, and others are included in the product name, their content in the food is quite small, so their potential beneficial effect on cats is questionable.

Each of the presented lines is characterized by the following features:

  • Manufacturing using twin-screw extrusion technology allows for a more uniform dough structure for future food, and the finished granules will be better absorbed by the cat's body;
  • The "vacuum shell" of the granules ensures the penetration of beneficial substances (vitamins, minerals, fats) into the granules, which ensures their preservation throughout the specified shelf life and the pleasant taste characteristics of the product.
  • Adding vitamin components after extrusion ensures the preservation of their beneficial properties throughout the production process and until the end of the finished feed's shelf life.

Compound

Let's look at the composition of Farmina ND using the complete food for adult cats, "Fish, Orange," as an example. Full information on the ingredients and nutrient percentages is provided on the packaging.

Main components

The first five components of a feed's composition are generally considered indicators of quality, so they should be the first to be considered. The example diet includes:

  • Fresh and dehydrated herring (30 and 28% respectively) – it is important that the exact source of fish is indicated, which is the main source of protein in the product, and due to its sufficient fat content, also a certain amount of fat.
  • Potatoes (no percentage specified) – provide complex carbohydrates and fiber and are healthier for cats than grains. However, the manufacturer does not specify the quality or composition of this ingredient.
  • Fish oil is another source of animal fat. In the English-language formula, this component is listed as herring oil, preserved with mixed tocopherols.
  • Dehydrated whole eggs are a source of animal protein. They are added whole, along with the yolk, which is a rich source of lecithin.

Supplements

To enhance the nutritional value, the manufacturer enriches the diet with a variety of additional components, including:

  • animal protein hydrolysate is more of an additive to improve the taste and aroma of granules than a high-quality source of protein;
  • Inulin, fructo- and mannan-oligosaccharides are beneficial prebiotics that stimulate the functioning and formation of beneficial microflora in the gastrointestinal tract and help strengthen the immune system in general.
  • Plant additives (powders of pomegranate, blueberry, black currant, spinach, dehydrated apples and oranges, dried carrots and alfalfa) serve as additional sources of fiber and antioxidants.
  • Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are chondroprotectors for maintaining joint health in pets (especially if they are overweight).

Therefore, the nutritional composition stated on the packaging does not raise any serious concerns. The product is a good option for daily feeding for your pet. It does not contain any ingredients rich in plant proteins. You can confidently assume that the 44% crude protein stated on the packaging is of animal origin, which is preferable for a cat's diet.

Reviews

Ekaterina, owner of a Siberian cat

"I like the Farmina ND line of grain-free food. My cat feels great on this diet, has no stool problems, and her appearance has improved. However, the food isn't sold in stores in the city, so I have to buy it online and, for the best value, order a large quantity at once to avoid overpaying for delivery."

Sergey, owner of the oriental:

"I've been buying Farmina ND for my cat for a long time. An added bonus for me is the presence of chelated minerals, which are easily absorbed by cats and are considered a sign of high-quality food. The price is a bit high compared to other holistic products, but the food meets all my cat's needs, so I don't plan to change it for now."

Margarita, the owner of the Siamese cat:

"I recently bought my cat a small package of Farmina grain-free food with chicken and pomegranate to try. I really liked the balanced formula, the absence of grains and chemicals. At first glance, it seemed ideal for daily feeding, but she didn't seem to have much of an appetite, and the small package was gone in almost a month. It might be suitable for other pets, and there are plenty of positive reviews to back this up, but for me, it was a complete waste of money."
