Content
Composition and release form
The drug, designed to combat helminths and other parasites, is available in several forms:
- in tablets;
- in suspension;
- in drops.

Tablets and suspension are intended for internal use, while drops are used for external treatment. They differ in composition and are used not only for deworming but also for the control and prevention of ectoparasites. They have a broader spectrum of action. Oral medications have a meaty flavor, making them readily consumed by animals.
The tablets are packaged in 6-tablet blisters. The suspension is sold in 10 ml polymer bottles. The package includes instructions and a syringe, making it easy to measure the required amount. The drops are packaged in polymer pipettes of varying sizes. They are simple and easy to use.
The composition of "Dironet", intended for internal use, includes the following active ingredients:
- Pyrantel pamoate blocks nerve impulse transmission, disrupting the nervous system of parasites. It also promotes cell membrane destruction, leading to the death of adult parasites.
- Ivermectin affects the nervous system and muscle membrane of parasites. When maximum concentrations are reached in the body, it causes paralysis and death.
- Praziquantel affects cestodes by disrupting their metabolic processes. Increased cell membrane permeability and impaired muscle function lead to the death of the parasites.
The drops for external use do not contain pyrantel pamoate, but the active ingredients are otherwise identical.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Dironet tablets and suspension are used for dogs to combat tapeworms, worms, and other types of parasites that affect the gastrointestinal tract.

It is prescribed in the following cases:
- For preventive deworming, which is carried out once every few months.
- For the treatment of nematodoses and cestoses at any stage of development.
- For the prevention of dirofilariasis (active substances have a negative effect on microfilariae).
The drug in drops has more indications:
- Prevention and treatment worms (worm and tape).
- Prevention of dirofilariasis.
- Prevention of infestation and destruction of fleas, lice and biting lice.
- Prevention and destruction of demodectic and sarcoptic mites.
After entering the gastrointestinal tract or applying to the skin (depending on the dosage form), the active ingredients of the medication are absorbed into the bloodstream and distributed throughout all organs and systems. The drug's effectiveness is enhanced by reaching peak concentrations within 4-9 hours.
Instructions for use
The use of the drug directly depends on the form of release.
Pills
One of the medication's advantages is that it doesn't require gastric lavage or an enema before use. If the tablet form is chosen, Dironet should be administered once in the morning. There are two possible tablet administration options:
- Crush the tablets and mix them with a small amount of food. Make sure your dog eats the entire mixture.
- Use an introducer (a special device for administering medication) or simply place the tablet on the back of the tongue and make sure the animal swallows it.

The dosage should be calculated as follows: 1 tablet per 10 kg of animal weight. Large pets weighing over 60 kg should be treated with a veterinarian before treatment. Preventive deworming is performed every three months.
Suspension
If a suspension is chosen, 1 ml of medication is required per 1 kg of dog. The drug should be administered as a single dose or as directed by a doctor. It is typically used for small breed dogs or those that refuse to take tablets. Follow these steps:
- Measure out the required amount of suspension based on your pet's weight and squeeze it onto the back of their tongue. For animals that are particularly resistant to this procedure, the medication can be mixed with their food.
- The procedure should be carried out in the morning, but rinsing the gastrointestinal tract is not required.
- For small dogs weighing less than 0.5 kg, the liquid is diluted in cold, pre-boiled water and fed using a syringe without a needle.
For preventive purposes, the product should be used every three months.
Drops
According to the instructions, Dironet spot-on for dogs is intended for external use. Apply the medication drop by drop to areas inaccessible to the animal (to prevent licking). The area between the shoulder blades, the base of the skull, and the spine are ideal. Apply the drops directly to the skin in several places, parting the fur. The skin should be clean and unbroken. Avoid bathing for 3-4 days after the treatment, as water can reduce the effectiveness of the active ingredients.

When using drops for puppies (only from 2 months of age), the following doses should be followed:
- weight up to 2 kg – 0.2 ml (5 drops);
- weight 2-5 kg – 0.5 ml;
- weight over 5 kg – 1 ml.
For adult dogs, the dosage should be as follows:
- weight 2-5 kg – 1 ml;
- weight 5-10 kg – 2 ml;
- weight 10-20 kg – 4 ml;
- weight 20-30 kg – 6 ml.
For animals weighing over 30 kg, the dose must be calculated individually - 0.2 ml of medicine per 1 kg of weight.
When using medication to get rid of ear mites, you need to drip it into the ear canal.
To prevent fleas and other ectoparasites, treatment is performed once a month during their active period. It is also necessary to change the bedding and treat household items for parasites. For deworming, the product is applied quarterly.

Owner reviews
Ksenia, owner of a shepherd dog:
"We have a seven-year-old German Shepherd. She's always active and loves to play. After she became lethargic, we took her to the vet, who prescribed Dironet, saying the reason for her behavior was the leaflets. We bought the tablets and gave them to her in the morning, as directed. She ate them without issue, apparently attracted by the meaty smell. By evening, our beloved dog was active again. I think the drug is very effective, so I recommend it to others."
Anna, an experienced dog owner:
"I have three dogs at home. I deworm them regularly. I used Dronatal before, but friends recommended Dironet. Even though it's cheaper, I haven't noticed any punctures. We've already done the deworming twice. Two dogs eat the pills right out of my hand, and I hide the third one in a piece of cheese. There are no side effects or unpleasant consequences. I'm happy with the results."
Veterinarian Reviews
Oksana, a veterinarian with 10 years of experience:
“I don’t really like Dironet. I usually prescribe it for parasites.” Drontal or Cestal"Although I will dispel the doubts of some dog owners and confidently state that the drug does not affect the liver even at a double dose, an overdose should not be allowed."
Victoria, veterinarian:
"Dironet is very toxic for treating parasites in puppies, even though it's approved for use. I usually choose gentler options, such as Drontal or Pyrantel. But it's an excellent product for preventing heartworm disease, especially for large adult dogs."
