When used
All Dana formulations are designed to combat ectoparasites. The drug is used for infestations with the following types of arthropods and insects:
- fleas;
- lice;
- lice eaters;
- scabies mites, including otodectosis;
- ixodid ticks;
- demodectic mites.

The medicine is well suited for the prevention of entomoses and acaroses. It is especially recommended for use during periods of activity. external parasites, that is, in the warm season.
Please note! In cases of high risk of infection, such as a high tick infestation, frequent walks in the woods, etc., it is recommended to combine the use of different dosage forms. When using drops, a collar, shampoo, or spray will provide additional protection.
The specifics of use depend on the form of release of the antiparasitic drug.
Drops for external use
Dana drops for dogs are available in two versions:
- Spot-on;
- Ultra.

They differ in their composition. The main active ingredient in standard Spot-On drops is fipronil. When the oily solution is applied to the animal's skin, fipronil does not enter the bloodstream but accumulates in the fur, sebaceous glands, and epidermis. Therefore, it provides reliable protection. This substance is effective due to its effect on the nervous system, specifically blocking the nervous system. The solution is packaged in 1 or 1.5 ml polymer pipettes, as well as 15 ml bottles. The latter option is well suited for owners with multiple animals. One bottle is sufficient for several treatments.
Ultra drops combine the action of fipronil with two additional active ingredients: thiamethoxam and pyriproxyfen. Because it contains several active ingredients, the medication has a broad spectrum of action. It effectively kills adult parasites, as well as their larvae and eggs. The solution is packaged in disposable polymer pipettes of various sizes: 0.4, 0.8, 1.6, and 3.2 ml. The medication is easy to dose, as each pipette is designed for a specific weight.

Nuances of use
According to the instructions, Dana Spot-On and Ultra drops should be applied to dogs in the withers area. For larger dogs, drops can also be applied along the spine, but be careful not to let the animal lick it. The drops should only be applied to dry, unbroken skin.
The dosage depends on the type of product and the animal's weight. If Dana Ultra is used, the dosage for one treatment is calculated as follows:
- up to 5 kg – 0.4 ml;
- 5-10 kg – 0.8 ml;
- 10-20 kg – 1.6 ml;
- 20-40 kg – 3.2 ml.
Select pipettes of the appropriate volume. For animals weighing over 40 kg, several pipettes should be used in combination.

Important! The pipette's recommended weight is usually indicated on the packaging. Please pay attention to this information when purchasing medication.
When using Dana Spot-on drops, the dosage is calculated as follows:
- 2-10 kg – 1.5 ml;
- 10-20 kg – 3 ml;
- 20-40 – 4.5 ml;
- more than 40 kg – 6 ml.
The medication is applied when parasites are detected. To prevent infection, prophylactic treatment should be performed on average once every month. For otodectosis, 3-6 drops are instilled into the ear. If necessary, repeat the treatment after 5-7 days.
Spray
Dana Ultra spray contains fipronil and cyfluthrin. Therefore, it is successfully used not only for the treatment and prevention of entomosis in dogs, but also to protect animals from ticks and flying insects (mosquitoes, flies, etc.). The product is packaged in bottles equipped with spray heads, making it easy to use.

How to apply
If Dana spray is used for prevention or treatment, the actions are performed in the following sequence:
- Shake the bottle.
- Spray the product evenly over the animal's entire body. Hold the spray head 20-25 cm away from the pet.
- If the hair is long, it should be lifted by hand so that the medicinal solution penetrates the skin.
For every 1 kg of body weight, 2-4 ml of spray is required. Calculating the dosage is easy – one spray equals 0.5 ml. Treatment should be carried out outdoors. If this is not possible, be sure to open vents or windows, and thoroughly inspect the area after treatment.
Please note! Until the solution dries, do not allow your pet to lick it. Use a collar, muzzle, or tape to prevent this.
Collars
The collars are made from a polymer tape. It features a convenient closure strap. The polymer tape contains the following active ingredients:
- fipronil;
- ivermectin;
- pyriproxyfen.

The manufacturer produces three types of collars:
- 40 cm – for cats, puppies and small breeds;
- 65 cm – for medium-sized dogs;
- 80 cm – for large pets.
The main feature of the collars is that they provide protection against external parasites and prevent roundworm infestations. For greater effectiveness, it is recommended to combine Dana collars with a spray or drops.
Features of application
After unpacking, place the polymer band on your pet. Do not tighten the collar too tightly; leave 1-1.5 cm of space. Trim off any excess band to prevent overuse. On average, the product lasts for 3 months, after which the collar should be replaced.
If your pet's fur is dirty or matted, it's recommended to give it a thorough bath and grooming first. For severe flea or lice infestations, use a medicated shampoo. The collar should be removed during bathing.
Shampoo
The shampoo's main active ingredient is permethrin. Dana Shampoo has the following effects:
- destroys fleas, ticks and other insects;

Owner reviews
Svetlana, owner of a German Shepherd and a cat:
"I've been using Dana on my animals for two years now. I use drops for my dog, and I buy collars for my cat. All last summer, the animals were free of fleas and ticks. This year, too, everything is fine. I'm happy with the results."
Maria, owner of a Rhodesian Ridgeback:
"I usually didn't notice any insects on my dog, so I didn't use any special treatments. But when we counted 19 ticks after a walk, we went straight to the veterinarian. They recommended Dana spray. We were able to get rid of the parasites after just one treatment. We now use the spray as a preventative measure."
Olga, owner of a Japanese Chin:
"Our dog is moving to our dacha with us this summer. We didn't want to expose him to toxic medications, so we decided to use Dana shampoo. We didn't notice any fleas, but ticks still showed up, so we had to buy an expensive collar. His fur becomes soft and smells pleasant after bathing."
Veterinarian Reviews
Andrey, a veterinarian with 14 years of experience:
"I don't trust domestically produced products, including Dana. Experience shows that they often cause side effects, and their effectiveness is questionable. If you want to save money, then buy Dana, but if you want to protect your pet from insects, choose an imported product."
Zhanna, a veterinarian with 7 years of experience:
"The main advantage of Dana is its variety of forms and options. You can find the optimal option for animals of different ages, weights, and breeds. Its advantages include its reasonable price. Its disadvantages include a high risk of side effects and low effectiveness."

We brought our puppy to the dacha, and a couple of weeks later, fleas appeared—so many that they were practically jumping all over the house! We went to the vet, and they recommended puppy drops and a house spray—both Dana Ultra. They said they were the perfect combination. We treated the puppy, the house, and the fleas disappeared. Now we treat our little fluffy friend with the drops every month to prevent any more "surprises."

I haven't heard about the spray, thanks.
