Carnilove – cat foodManufacturer's information

Carnilove dry cat food is manufactured by the Czech company Vafo Praha, which has established itself in the pet food market as a producer of holistic, high-quality, super-premium pet food. The company also owns the Brit brand, which produces cat and dog food.

The company has been working in pet nutrition for 20 years. Its food is produced in modern factories located in the Czech Republic. The ingredients used are meticulously selected and meet stringent safety standards. Quality control meets strict European standards, making this food very popular in Europe and Russia.

Vafo Praha has extensive experience in formulating highly nutritious pet food and is constantly improving its production. Leading experts and professional dog and cat breeders collaborate on the development of future products.

When formulating a diet, we consider the animals' natural nutritional needs. Cats and dogs are primarily carnivores, and their diet should be rich in animal protein. Therefore, Carnilove uses high-quality meat, with a preference for game meats such as wild boar, duck, pheasant, and others.

Compound

To maintain good health, cats of all ages require food with sufficient protein and balanced amino acid levels. Carnilove diets are formulated with ingredients found in cats' natural diets. The food is easily digestible, rich in essential nutrients, supports metabolism, and supports the immune system. Dietary fiber improves digestion and promotes the passage of hairballs.

The cat is eating

The main ingredients are meat, fruits, and vegetables. They ensure the animal's daily physical health. The food includes:

  • Protein. The crude protein content of the feed is over 38%. Depending on the diet, wild boar, lamb, duck, pheasant, wild salmon, turkey, and combinations thereof are used. Protein meal accounts for approximately 60% of all other ingredients. Chicken liver is also included (approximately 3%).
  • Fats. To ensure sufficient fat for the animal's body, chicken fat (6%) preserved with natural preservatives (tocopherols) and salmon oil (approximately 2%) are used. Sea fish oil is also a source of highly beneficial polyunsaturated omega-3 and -6 fatty acids.
  • Carbohydrates. Grains and potatoes are not included in this food, as they don't meet the pet's natural nutritional needs. Cats are carnivores, and in the wild, these foods make up a small portion of their diet, if at all. Manufacturers often add carbohydrate-rich foods to create a false sense of fullness. Cats get enough carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables. Yellow peas, in particular, provide optimal carbohydrate intake.
  • Fruits and vegetables. In addition to providing carbohydrates, they are a source of amino acids, vitamins, and fiber. Carnilove includes apples, tapioca starch, carrots, chickpeas, yellow peas, cranberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Together, they make up about 27% of the body's nutritional needs.
  • Plants. Beneficial ingredients include: flaxseed, brewer's yeast, chicory root, yucca schidigera, plantain, seaweed, thyme, rosemary, and oregano.
  • Vitamins and microelements. The food is enriched with vitamins A, E, C, D, sodium, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, zinc, L-carnitine, and other beneficial substances.
  • The source of glucosamine and chondroitin are specially processed crustacean shells and cartilage extract.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantage of Brit Carnilove for cats is its high protein content. Protein makes up more than half of all ingredients in the food. Other benefits include:

  • absence of grains, which often cause food allergies in cats;
  • use of natural preservatives, antioxidants and vitamins;
  • sufficient amount of minerals and other useful substances;
  • optimal level of fiber for digestion (4%);
  • sufficient caloric content (approximately 3600 kcal/kg, depending on the type of diet).

Among the disadvantages, the following points can be highlighted:

  1. The ingredients list "salmon, turkey, etc. meal" as being used, but it doesn't specify that it's actually meat. Therefore, the manufacturer may be adding by-products to the diet in addition to meat. However, the analytical composition shows a fairly high protein level—39%. Therefore, even if by-products are used, they are rich in protein.
  2. The price is high. However, for this holistic product, it's entirely justified.

Reviews

Alexandra:

I bought Carnilove turkey and salmon cat food to try. The packaging caught my eye: it was very bright, with a beautiful wild cat. A quick look at the ingredients seemed good: about 60% meat, no grains. It's made in Europe, so I'm confident the product is high-quality. I started with a small 400g package. The kibble is a normal size, with a pleasant, subtle scent. My cat eats well and isn't fussy. I monitor her daily intake. She uses about 80g of dry kibble per day. She could eat more, but I don't give her more. She's active, her fur is beautiful and shiny, and her bowel movements are regular. Overall, I'm happy. We currently have a medium 2kg package. Next time, I want to try a different flavor so she doesn't get bored with this one.

Ruslana V.:

"I'll say right away that my review of Carnilove for cats is a good one. We've been using it for a while now. I'm happy, and so is my pet. I have a big, beautiful, fluffy, and lazy cat, neutered at a young age. I usually buy food with lamb and wild boar (for spayed pets). I periodically change flavors, choosing salmon, duck, turkey, and so on. The food has a high protein content—39%, which is very good even for other super-premium foods. I used to have allergic reactions to cheaper foods, so the vet recommended grain-free food. The allergic reactions have subsided, and his bowel movements have improved. So, we don't plan to switch to another food for now."

Egor Mikhailovich, veterinarian:

"Carnilove is rightfully considered a holistic food. It has a high protein content, and the percentages of its ingredients are accurately stated. The nutrition is well-balanced, providing all the ingredients necessary for normal bodily function. However, animal meal, not full-fledged meat, is used in production. Typically, when using meal, it may also contain bones, skins, and other by-products. However, if these were used in large quantities, the resulting protein content would not reach 39%. Therefore, it can be assumed that the nutritional ingredients are of high quality. Carnilove can be used for various breeds. In my experience, I have not observed any allergies to it."

Anzhelika Gudymenko, veterinarian:

"I highly recommend Carnilove to pet owners. I haven't heard any negative reviews from my clients. The food is rich in protein, contains healthy fats (chicken and fish oil), fiber, vitamins, and minerals. A big plus is the absence of grains, which can cause allergies and digestive issues. The price is optimal for a super-premium food."

  • Thank you for the useful article!

  • Carnilove for spayed and neutered cats is excellent for preventing urolithiasis. High protein (39%) helps maintain a slightly acidic pH. Low magnesium (0.04%) helps prevent urinary stones. I recommend Carnilove for neutered cats.
