Composition and release form

The main component and active ingredient of Bonharen is hyaluronic acid in the form of sodium hyaluronate. Its concentration is 10 mg per 1 ml of medicinal liquid. The composition also includes sodium chloride and purified water for injection.

The medication appears as a colorless, transparent solution. It is intended for injection or eye drops. The sterile liquid is packaged in glass vials of 2 and 6 ml capacity. They are sealed with rubber stoppers and sealed with aluminum caps to maintain sterility. A package typically contains 6 vials, but it's easy to purchase the required quantity at a pharmacy, as they are sold individually.

Pharmacological properties

Dogs are active animals. They spend a lot of time moving, which affects their health as they age. Owners often encounter joint problems in their pets. Older animals are particularly susceptible.

Over time, synovial fluid production is disrupted and loses its lubricating properties, leading to increased friction. This is accompanied by severe pain, lameness, and other unpleasant symptoms. Painkillers prescribed in such cases only help temporarily alleviate the symptoms of the problem but do not address the underlying cause.

Bonharen is used for the effective treatment of joint diseases. It has a comprehensive effect on the body and halts the process of cartilage destruction in animals. Hyaluronic acid is found in both animals and humans. It is involved in many physiological processes and is the main component of synovial fluid, a deficiency of which leads to serious problems with motor function.

Bonharen has the following effects on the body:

  • restores joint mobility;
  • reduces pain;
  • relieves inflammation;
  • improves the lubricating properties of synovial fluid;
  • initiates the regeneration of damaged cartilage tissue;
  • strengthens joints and stops their destruction.

The production of synovial fluid allows the animal to move without restrictions.

Price

The cost of one bottle of Bonharen for dogs ranges from 2,400 to 2,600 rubles. When purchasing a pack (6 bottles), the price per bottle is lower – 2,100 to 2,300 rubles.

Advantages of the drug

Bonharen has the following advantages:

  • Safety. It has no contraindications or side effects, as the main component, hyaluronic acid, is naturally found in animals.
  • Fast action. The medication reaches even the most distant sites of inflammation in just 3-4 hours.
  • Long-lasting effect. The therapeutic effect of the injection lasts for several days.
  • Rarely causes allergic reactions, as it does not contain genetically modified organisms or aggressive chemicals.
  • It is non-addictive. There is no need for continuous administration. For older animals, it may be necessary to repeat the course after a period of time.
  • Comprehensive action. Not only does it relieve unpleasant symptoms and improve the animal's condition, but it also eliminates the underlying cause, providing a chance for a full recovery in the early stages of cartilage destruction.

For eye diseases caused by infections, Bonharen is used in combination with other medications.

Important! Never use this medication to treat eye conditions without first consulting a doctor!

Instructions for use

Bonharen is easy to administer. Dogs are injected intravenously or subcutaneously. The dose is calculated based on the animal's weight:

  • for dogs weighing up to 5 kg, 0.1 ml of medicine will be required for each kilogram of weight;
  • For pets weighing from 5 to 80 kg, 0.05 ml of the drug is needed per kilogram.

The drug can be used for pregnant and lactating bitches, as it does not cause mutations in the fetus and does not have a negative effect on the bodies of the mother and offspring.

When administering injections, it is important to follow aseptic rules and simple recommendations:

  1. Carry out the procedure wearing sterile gloves.
  2. Use a new sterile syringe each time.
  3. Carefully draw the medication from the vial into the syringe. There's no need to open the vial; you can puncture it with a needle.
  4. Wipe the injection site with alcohol before administering the solution.

Depending on the stage of the disease and the animal's condition, the course consists of 3-7 injections. Injections are administered at intervals of 5-7 days.

For eye diseases

If the product is used to treat conjunctivitis and other eye conditions, 1-2 drops should be administered. Repeat every 2-12 hours. The course of treatment is 5-7 days and is determined by a veterinarian.

If the medication is used with other ophthalmic medications, wait 30 minutes or more between drops. Eye ointments are used after Bonharen.

Contraindications and side effects

The only contraindication is individual intolerance to the components, which is quite rare. If allergic reactions occur, discontinue the medication. Typically, all unpleasant symptoms resolve spontaneously after discontinuing the injections; symptomatic treatment is rarely required.

Some animals experience swelling at the injection site. This does not require special treatment and resolves within a couple of days.

Bonharen should not be taken with certain antibiotics (erythromycin, cefquine, amoxicillin). They promote coagulation of hyaluronic acid.

Storage rules and special instructions

To ensure that the injection solution does not lose its pharmacological properties, it is necessary to ensure proper storage conditions:

  • air temperature from +5 to +25˚C;
  • place inaccessible to ultraviolet radiation;
  • absence of high humidity.

Owner reviews

Olga, the collie's owner:

"We injected the drug for joint problems. It worked. The dog became more active and stopped whining in pain. However, we later found a cheaper domestic alternative, and the results remained the same."

Vita, owner of a German Shepherd:

"I gave Bonharen to an elderly shepherd. I'm not sure how effective it is, as I didn't notice any visible improvements, although there was no progression of the arthritis. If it hadn't been prescribed by a doctor I trust, I doubt I would have bought it."

Mikhail, the owner of the staff:

"When my dog was 1.5 years old, he suffered an injury—a dislocated knee. Kron limped for a long time, and the medications he was taking weren't helping or were only temporarily effective until we saw an experienced veterinarian. He prescribed a course (6 injections) of Bonharen. Now the dog is over 3 years old, and we haven't had any more problems with his lameness or pain."

Veterinarian Reviews

Ilya, a veterinarian with 5 years of experience:

"Bonharen is an effective and safe medication. Previously, joint conditions were simply treated with pain relief, but the introduction of this medication has completely changed the situation. Arthritis and arthrosis are now successfully treated, especially if owners address the problem early."

Irina, a veterinarian with 10 years of experience:

"Although expensive, this medication is effective. I usually prescribe it in combination with painkillers and chondroprotectors. The treatment is lengthy, but it yields results and allows you to avoid surgery. It doesn't cause any side effects and can be used on adult pets and puppies. The medication has helped my patients return to their normal lives."

  • My Pekingese was misdiagnosed and underwent kidney treatment for a long time. Unfortunately, we were taken to another clinic in critical condition, where they diagnosed a slipped disc and something else I can't remember. Jackie's hind legs were paralyzed, and he completely lost feeling in his hind legs. The doctors said it was too late; they would relieve the pain and inflammation, but the dog would only be able to walk on his front legs. Then I came across Banharen online and asked the doctor, and he said try it; it's a good medication. At that point, the dog had been paralyzed for about a month, and he only walked on his front legs. I gave him five injections of Banharen, and he regained feeling, but he couldn't stand on his hind legs. Five or six days after the last injection, he started walking, hesitantly, but he got better every day. I also massaged his hind legs several times a day. Now he's 11 years old and has no problems with his legs. I give him a course of treatment every year as a preventative measure.
